Everybody knows that Canada is just America with the Queen on its money... HA!
But yeah, what a sorry bunch of losers the CONservatives have become. There was a time when I regarded CONs as people with certain attitudes about business and taxation, which may or may not have stood on their own merits. Now, the CONs are just a bunch of frightened, ignorant clowns. Let them wallow in their owns stupidity.
Caribou Barbie in 2012, please, please, please!!!
Frothing at the mouth? Why not ask Mr. Limbaugh, who is openly hoping for Obama to fail? Go spend some time on some right-wing sites, then get back to us.
I recall one of the networks repeatedly airing the footage of a strapping young man who proudly announced that the women and children were evacuated first. That's all well and gentlemanly and all, but I have a few issues:
1) Once the plane "landed" in the river (why do we call that a "landing" and not a "watering"?), nobody was in any IMMEDIATE danger. The plane never did sink. There was all kinds of time for the gentlemanly-inclined to step aside and allow women and children to step outside first without incurring any substantial risk. Hell, given the temperature outside that day, I might well have stayed inside the cabin for as long as possible just to stay out of the frigid wind. In this specific instance, there was plenty of time for everybody to get out in whatever order they wanted to. I unserstand that Capt. Sullenberger had time to walk the aisle twice to check for stragglers before exiting the plane (last) himself.
2) Building on #1, I humbly submit that had the plane dipped a wing and cartwheeled and broken apart and begun to sink immediately, or had it come down on land and burst into flames, many, if not all, of those self-same gentlemanly hero types would have had no choice, and maybe not even made a "decision" in the formal sense, but to partake in a frenzied self-survival animal-instinct sort of evacuation where everybody made for the nearest exit/opening as fast as humanly possible. Fire/certain death is one hell of a motivator.
3) If I'm a man in 13C, and there are two women in 13A and 13B, those women likely aren't going anywhere until I move. Given the limited space for movement inside a plane's cabin (just try to walk past the beverage cart sometime...), is it even realistic to try to attempt a gender/age-prioritized evacuation in a situation where seconds count? I think I heard someone say that the plane's crew directed the women and children out first. Is that standard procedure in an emergency (not a slow-sink situation) or is that a "luxury" that this specific situation afforded?
The reason I raise this issues is because I have never heard of a gender/age-prioritized evacuation of a plane crash before. (Perhaps that's because there are relatively few plane crash suvivors, period.) One might argue that such is a great idea, or not, but is it realistic? If precious seconds are lost lining up the survivors in the "proper" order, what good is it to do so?
For something to chew on for reference, there was no gender prioritization in the evacuations of the WTC towers on 9/11 (I don't think many children were present). It was often people with diabilites who stepped aside to let the able-bodied pass.
Let's see if I've struck any nerves with this...
Serafin said, "You Global-Warming-Religious-Nutcases ought to throw Gore under the bus...his image is so tarnished. Just another rich fat guy screaming at us. I always felt that Gore was mad because Bush beat him and took it out on us. That anger crap doesn't play right, looks weird. By the way it's f--king COLD out here!"
1) I think it is the religious nutcases who are the deniers, no? I mean, GW isn't explicitly spelled out in the Bibble, so how can it be real?
2) Bush didn't beat him. Bush was selected be a partisan Supreme Court.
3) You do understand the difference between WEATHER and CLIMATE, don't you? Feel free to prove that you understand the difference.
4) You do understand that rising average temperatures don't necessarily meant that it will be 85 and sunny everyday everywhere, don't you? If the average temperature in the middle of Antarctica rises by 3 degrees over a decade, that's still warming and it's still cold.
5) The problem with you Right-wing intellectual lightweights is that you can't think more than one step down the road. "I see snow, therefore GW is impossible." Reality: Higher global air and water temperatures mean more evaporation, which puts more moisture into the atmosphere which means that when that moisture does hit cold air, it snows. Did you follow that, or was it too complex for you?
Frankly, I can't think of anybody who better represents who and what today's Republican Party has become. It is now the proud-to-be-ignorant party of white rural dim-witted religious freaks and virtually nobody else.
Please, Republicans, run this moron in 2012. She'll carry South Carolina, Georgia, Alamabma, Mississippi, Louisiana, Texas, Idaho, Utah, and Alaska.
Good luck with that.
Don't forget the primary rule of Palonics - replace every other period at the end of your sentences with the word "also."
By "waste" did you mean put people to work (which means earning, which means spending) and get some shit done?
What's the alternative? - More tax cuts for the wealthiest 1% so they can make "investments" by moving more American manufacturing to communist China?
Aside from a very lucky few, anybody who is any good at anything sucked at it first. A failure is only such if one doesn't learn anything from it. Hence, fewer failures = less learned.
Palin is already in many ways a model of who and what Republicans are these days: Dim witted, barely educated, deeply religious/superstitious, and arrogant.
Caribou Barbie 2012!!!
why I will never vote for any Republican, living or dead.
