Sometimes somebody posts such a shit-laden string of comments that I'm left with no choice...
"If Palin wasn't a female none of this talk would even be happening."
- Bullshit. This has nothing to do with Palin being a woman; it has everything to do with her being an intellectual lightweight and a religious lunatic.
"Obama didn't even seriously consider any aspect of the financial bailout and then voted for it! (!!!) Of course, no one mentions this."
- How the hell can you make this statement? Prove it. Did Rush Limbaugh tell you to think that?
"Palin still has more experience going into the vice presidency than Obama is trying to take into the presidency. Of course, you would all be fools to ADMIT this even though you all know it."
- 1) By this logic, McCain is utterly unqualified. 2) George W. Bush has almost 8 years of Experience actually being president and he probably couldn't get elected dog-catcher now. Experience, as in having logged a few hours under a given job title, doesn't mean shit.
"Never has so inconsequential a government post so mesmerized the people as Sarah Palin's possible VP spot."
- Your assertion that the candidacy for VP is inconsequential pretty much disqualifies all of your other drivel, but let's see what other inane bullshit you're spewing...
"Palinphobes are making a mockery of both the Democratic Party AND the blogosphere."
- No, they're making a mockery of Caribou Barbie.
"Release your hate. Ask Obama what he was doing when the Senate and the House was debating the bailout. Ask him why he voted in favor of it."
- He probably reluctantly thinks it is the best of a handful of shitty options. This will always be open to debate since it is impossible to know absolutely whether this is true or not. If you're certain that you have the perfect answer to the problem, please share.
"Ask him why he sat on the fence during the most important time affecting the lives of billions of people around the world."
- A minute ago you said he voted for it. Now did he vote or did he sit on the fence? Hint: it can't be both.
"You people don't give a rat's ass about "leadership." All you want to do whine and cry. I'll have to admit that you've had so much experience you're very, very good at both whining and crying. Unfortunately, you've become irrelevant. Thinking is secondary and leadership is also irrelevant. Now all you do is promote divisiveness, hate and a severe lack of brain power." - Now I'm wondering what grade you're in. BTW, if we're irrelevant, why isn't McCain polling 100 percent and why are you gracing us with your presence?
"Palinphobia is illogical, irrational and demeaning." - Palin is illogical, irrational, and demeaning.
"It makes you all look like children. In turn, it makes the Democratic Party look like children because you people are the loudest mouths around." - I'm guessing 8th grade.
"Watch what you say." - Who the fuck are you to tell anybody to watch what they say?
...What is clear is that the taxpayer/voter is going to contribute financially one way or another to any sort of recovery. If the bailout doesn't happen with taxpayer dollars in the form of a government giveaway, then we're all gonna get hit otherwise, be it higher interest rates or difficulty in securing loans or some other such situation.
And why not? The taxpayer/voters chose the politicans who supported policies that led to a lack of effective oversight and now the taxpayer/voters have remorse? As a people, we have demanded easy credit without accountability. The American people voted for Republican laissez-faire and they got it. Now they don't like the taste so much.
Main Street taxpayers shouldn't delude themselves for one minute into thinking that if the bailout fails, they're off the hook. If Obama (or McCain, for that matter) can articulate this (without blaming the voters, like I just did, for their shitty past choices in leadership) he might come out looking okay. The trick is to sell it as the least painful of a number of bad options.
"Many of the economic problems we're facing now are the direct result of the Democrat party's vision of Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac as a bottomless cash pit to support "houses for all," no matter how unqualified."
Let's say this is true. Can you explain, then, why the Republicans under W urged lenders to participate in a program called The Great Home Ownership Challenge? Take a few minutes and Google that. This was about the time that the Ownership Society was a big buzzword bandied about by Republicans. The idea was that if more people could own their homes, then the masses would see the light of Republicanism via the Owenrship Society. Risky loans were encouraged because the goal was to make as many Americans (voters) as possible homeowners. This was designed to help create the mythical Permanent Republican Majority. Couple that with the repeal of the Glass-Steagall Act in the late '90's and you have, well, a Home Ownership Challenge...
Your biases seem to have led you to believe that this crisis is 100% the Democrats' making. The Republicans held Congress from '94 to '06 - plenty of time to make necessary adjustments. There's a lot more blame to go around.
That half of these right-wing pundits don't believe a word they write/say. But they know there is a bullshit hungry audience that will eat it up in exchange for money.
then what the hell would she do in the face of a real threat? Is she gonna answer that 3am phone call with, "I'll get back to you on that...?"
