@ fladad

"He throws the Obama campaign and its supporters (including much of the MSM and apparently David Letterman) for a loop once again and they're unsure how to react."

What makes you think anybody is unsure how to react? People who have decided that McCain is The One will talk themselves into thinking that this is the single greatest move in the history of American presidential campaigns. Everybody else sees it as bullshit. No doubt it will make headlines, but will they be the headlines he wants? What the hell does he have to offer in solving the crisis that he can't spare a few hours on Friday? He has a goddamned 737 at his beck and call - he can make a half-day of the debate and be back in Washington in time to announce that he has single-handedly solved the credit crunch.

Wanna know how people will react? Imagine that you are an employer. You are hiring for an important managerial position. You pored over dozens of resumes and interviewd about 20 people, 5 of which warranted second interviews. After the second interview you narrowed your choices to two individuals. Each brings different, but valuable qualities to the table. You like them both. You schedule their final interviews for a particular Friday. On the preceding Wednesday, one of the finalists calls up and says, "I'm sorry, but can we please re-schedule my interview? Something really important came up at my current job." Five minutes later, the other candidate calls and says, "Hi, I just wanted to confirm that the interview scheduled for Friday is still on. I'm really looking forward to meeting with you again." - Who do you think gets the job?

Congratualtions, irishgalartist!

You take the cake for today's stupidest post.

"McCain is right to put the country first and try to save us from this crisis." - What, exactly, is McCain doing, other than having his picture taken while looking presidential?

"Obama, like congress is more concerned with his own posturing." - Congress includes McCain.

"What I would like to know is where was congress?" - They're in Washington, DC.

"Their to busy trying to figure out how to make government bigger, and spend more taxpayer's money." - Welcome to the Bush years.

"This is a clear sign that we need partisianship out of congress." - Please, come back and let us know when you achieve that.

"They have an obligation to work together and put the people first." - Obliged to work together?

"They need to quit worrying about their own posturing." _ you said as much already.

"The media has a responsibility here too." - Fair enough.

"Quit just reporting according to your own liberal bias." - Did you mean "reality bias?"

"Try actually reporting what people need to know, instead of trying to tear down Palin." - People don't need to know about a woman who would be a heartbeat away from being president. Please expand on this concept - I'd love to hear your rationale.

"Why didn't the mainstream media send an entire cackle of reporters out to dig dirt ob Obama." - Where the hell have you been for the last 18 months??? (Rev. Wright, W. Ayers, secret muslim, inexperienced?, black radical, wife said "whitey?", most liberal senator, etc...)

"There's plenty of it." - See above.

"Yet, at this time it's time to focus on the current crisis." - You mean the one that's been brewing since Ronald McReagan sold you dumbfucks on "trickle-down" economics? Next question - where the hell has McCain been on this issue for the last 2 decades?

"If it weren't for Fox, I'd believe I was living in a communist country." - Oh, yes, FOX, that paragon of journalism. If you paid any attention at all, you would realize that FOX is the propaganda arm of the Republican Party (you know, the party that brought you the deregulation that led to the crisis you want resolved so badly). In fact, FOX's propaganda tactics very closely mirror those of the most powerful totalitarian regimes, but I wouldn't expect you to know that.

"What ever happened to journalistic intergrity?" - Don't look at FOX.

"Does anyone remeber Dan Rather?" - 4 people do.

"They have all turned into Dan Rathers." - I don't even know where to go with this...

"This is why we are not energy independant, and why we end up paying for stupid earmarks." - What the hell does Dan Rather, how ever many of them there are, have to do with energy independence or earmarks?

"America, get smart and demand more!" - Take your own advice.

Now, would you kindly ask the McCain Campaign to assign you to a different blog. Thank you.

Original article: Obama and McCain face off

This Debate was McCain's to Lose

This was the "Foreign Policy" debate. This, supposedly, is McCain's strong suit vs. Obama. Most commentary indicates that this debate was close to a tie - which essentially means that McCain lost. McCain did not come out the clear winner.

As someone upthread pointed out, people are looking for a reason to like Obama. In this case, all Obama had to do was maintain his cool and be likeable. Mission accomplished.
