Thanks, Celia,

You said what I'm trying to say, only much more eloquently.

As far as identifying who is and is not a baby boomer, there's a world of difference between those born in the late 40's who came of age in the 60's and early 70's, and those born in the 60's, no matter what your favorite deomographer wants to call them.

After 7 Years of Republican Rule

... my wallet has been bruised enough. The wealthy and the corportations got their blessed tax cuts and instead of reinvestng in the American that made them wealthy in the first place, those traitors shit all over us and moved thier money to the fucking Cayman Islands and their manufacturing to China.

Anybody who worked for a living and voted Republican and is now trying to put his life back together because his job has been outsourced has gotten exactly what he deserves.

Maybe the fact that America doesn't manufacture anything other than debt anymore has more to do with plummeting stock values than the specter of a Democrat in the White House.

Bush...

...will be remembered???

@ bignose

"We can’t talk to people who don’t believe in freedom. That’s called appeasement."

No, appeasement is when a party gives in to an opponent's demands at the expense of the party's own interests or in spite of the party's own principles. Diplomacy and appeasement are two very different things. Please familiarize yourself with the English language before you post again.

Or, Not...

"10.) Because I Lived In Indonesia, I Have More Foreign Experience - NOT EXACTLY, you were there from the ages of 6 to 10, and couldn’t even speak the language. What did you learn, …… how to study the Koran and watch cartoons."

"11.) I Am Stronger On Foreign Affairs - NOT EXACTLY, except for Africa (surprise) and the Middle East (bigger surprise), you have never been anywhere else on the planet and thus have NO experience with our closest allies."

In 10 you talk about Obama living in Indonesia.

In 11 you say that he has never been abroad except for Africa and the Middle East.

If you're going to challenge someone's facutal accuracy, it really help if you are factual yourself. Or you could just make shit up.

So, should I take anything you say seriously? NOT EXACTLY.

What do you do when Bush makes some limited criticism of himself?

Well, you could blame the "liberal" media for having the gall to report it.

@ Kilroy

"Michelle Obama is disgusting and what she said should never be forgotten. She wasn't proud of this country..."

Could that be because this country doesn't have a history of being proud of its black citizens, much less a history of treating them like humans?

Oh, and to all you white folx who whine about having to compete against affirmitive action - if you're white and you can't get a job in America today, it's probably not the fault of affirmitive action, you're probably just a shitty candidate for the job.

I almost forgot...

I STILL haven't gotten my check! It will probably go right to paying off my credit card when I do get it.

Louisiana...

...has schools? Wow, they really have come a long way.

You know, part of me thinks that this is an absolute atrocity. Another part of me thinks that if these people are this ass-backward that they make these kinds of choices, then for all I care they can replace the entire school curriculum with bible-study. Keep them stupid and servile. They can do things like fight wars and go down mineshafts. Their children certainly won't be able to compete with the rest of the world.

There are Alphas. There are Betas.

Oh, and to call this a promotion of "critical thinking" is the cruelest of ironies. What is religion if not the willful suspension of critical thought replaced by make-believe?

@ guygardner

Surely, you realize that my quip about Louisiana's schools was in jest. The bungo pony definitely has an attitude, though.

I commend you and your wife for fighting these clowns. I'm well aware that smart individuals and small bastions of intelligence reside south of Interstate 80. But, man, what was that vote - 94 to 3? That's not even a contest. That tells me that something is VERY wrong with the vast majority of the people down there and, thus, they are quite worthy candidates for my ridicule.

I hereby advise you to relocate to a community that values intelligence, not one that fears it. Now, get started:

Wow, moxley

That's some really solid reasoning there. The Republicans would be happy to have you. They'll take what they can get these days.

He should bring a shopping bag -

It will be just like going to a farmer's market in Indiana...

Wednesday, June 18, 2008 08:12 AM

But... But... I'm SPECIAL!!!

I NEED a 4x4 SUV because I chose to live in the goddamned mountains surrounded by snow 11 months out of the year and I have to constantly dodge grizzly bears when I drive.

I NEED the largest pickup truck in the world because I chose to have a goddamned 25-foot boat that I absolutely have to haul around on a trailer.

I NEED a giant vehicle because I chose to have 150 goddamned dogs that slobber and shit all over the place so I need to take them to the park on week-ends.

None of you jackasses NEED any of this shit.

@ folger

Whether anybody feels superior to anybody else has nothing to do with anything. This is about choices that we make and the consequences of those choices. Large families and the infirm don't NEED to take travel vacations, nor does anybody else for that matter.

At $10 a gallon, not many people are going to go anywhere at all.
