Hillary Has Become Very Rich in the Last Seven Years and Older
[Read the article: How 1968 changed Hillary]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]Applauding Lyndon Johnson at the expense of Martin Luther King, Jr. was a telltale act for Hillary. McClelland refers to this in his article.
Money affects the head and can dull the heart. In the old days she went with her heart. Today and in recent years she has become much more calculating.
The Iraq War vote was calculating. Not reading the 2002 NIE was an expression of her thought. Repeating a false story of resoluteness under sniper fire in Bosnia was calculating. Keeping Mark Penn as chief strategist after his dealings with Countrywide Financial and Blackwater was calculating. Saying recently that Florida and Michigan primary votes should count after saying the opposite in December 2007 was calculating.
Also, Hillary is no longer young at age 60. Recently she mentioned how long it takes her to get made up before appearances. Could aging and large sums of money affect Hillary's judgment?

Bowling for Votes in Pennsylvania
[Read the article: Spare votes?]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]Someone here predicted a win in Pennsylvania for Obama. If Barack can hold down the margin of Hillary's likely win in PA to 7% or so, I'll be happy.
I was born and raised in western Pennsylvania. The folks in PA and in most places like you if you come across as genuine, somewhat kind-hearted and with a measure of courage. Think Arnold Palmer.
In bowling, a sport he is not good at, he showed his temperament. The longer they see Barack Obama, the more they will warm to him.

Obama Wins Texas
[Read the article: Spare votes?]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]Note WES, Barack goes to the Democratic Convention with more Texas delegates than Hillary.
For a long time Texas was a 100% caucus state. It now assigns 2/3 of its convention delegates with a primary (held March 4, 2008) and 1/3 with a caucus. It takes 2025 delegates to win the nomination and in the only count that matters for the nomination, the number of delegates, Obama takes Texas.
You can't ignore Texas, WES. It is a mighty BIG STATE.

A Mid-March Poll of 2000+ Californian Voters Has Obama Over McCain 49% to 40%
[Read the article: Spare votes?]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]A survey of 2000 plus California voters was given to the press on March 27, 2008. The survey was done by the Public Policy Institute of California, an independent research group based in San Francisco. The results appeared in a March 27 U.S. News & World Report article by Justin Ewers. Poll can be googled using: Public Policy Institute of California poll
On February 4, 2008 Californians gave Clinton a 52%-43 % victory in the primary there. "Obama appears to have experienced a significant bump since then," writes Ewers.
Independents have a favorable view of Obama at 57%, compared to 47% for McCain, and only 35% for Clinton.
If the general election were held today, the poll indicates that Obama, not Clinton, would do better in California. Obama polls at 49%-40% over McCain, while Clinton edges McCain 46%-43%, where 3% is within the error of the survey, ie. a statistical tie.
Note that this survey was done BEFORE the Bosnia Sniper story was debunked, we became aware that the Clintons joined the class of very rich Americans and Mark Penn was demoted for cause.

So Katex, Just Read More Carefully What I Wrote.
[Read the article: Spare votes?]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]In order to become the Democratic Presidential nominee, you must garner 2025 delegate votes. These are acquired form 3 sources, primary assigned delegates, caucus won delegates and super-delegates.
Note that not once did I mention popular vote. While I believe popular vote is very important, the path to winning the nomination is given in the first paragraph.
Cheers.

Barack Obama Will Weather This Dust-Up Too
[Read the article: The rubes and the elites]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]Rural Pennsylvania folks like to hunt for deer, pheasant, turkey, and rabbits. Nearly all of the animals killed are eaten.
Barack's only mistake was tying "bitter" to the guns. Barack had no father in the house nor uncles to take him hunting. Family members wringed a chicken's neck in Indonesia and then cooked and ate the chicken. But this is not hunting.
Barack likes people and tries to understand them. Rural Pennsylvanians and the hunting tradition there are unfamiliar to him. He will learn from this.
I believe that a number of these folks are angry and frustrated (bitter) that their government is mired in Iraq, that our manufacturing base has been sent overseas, with high gas prices, with sky-rocketing health premiums, with a government that will bail out Bear Stearns while allowing the CEO to walk away a rich man.
Rural Pennsylvanians serve in our military and hate phonies. When Hillary Clinton told the Bosnia Sniper Story three too many times, she lost a number of them.
Born and raised in a town of 5000 in southwestern PA, I believe that Barack Obama will receive some unexpected support there.

Joan Walsh wrote, "I have no doubt that Obama would make a better President than McCain for working..."
[Read the article: Don't blame San Francisco for Obama's "Bittergate"]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]Therefore Joan, if you have no doubt that Obama would make the better President for working class Americans, then write about why you think so. Please feel free to provide many details in your essay.
Your "Bittergate" is the first time I have seen this characterization. My feeling is expressed here by others that "BITTER" is what you Hillary supporters are feeling every day. You must now know that she is not the better candidate for Democrats to run against John McCain.
Your worries as to who will win in November are ill-informed. Barack Obama will pound that same-old, same-old Republican-policies BS candidate.
This country is fed-up with an endless occupation in Iraq, an economy that serves the rich primarily, the export of our manufacturing base, the Republicanization of our U.S. Attorneys and an over dependence on oil that enriches too many of our so-called friends. We want our good name restored around the world. We need hope and we need our young people in the forefront.
A good leader focuses our attention on the truly important problems of our country and our world. Think Barack and you say "Yes". Think Hillary and you say "No". Think McCain and you say "Hell No".
