  • Bravo, Mr. Kamiya !

[Read the article: Biracial, but not like me]

You have done a good job of putting us on the same team, the team of humans. Your read of Obama and the struggle of his book, "Dreams from My Father", may be as much as he hoped to achieve in writing it.

My mother and father were white, one of Irish descent and the other of English parentage. Still, I often felt a certain unexplained sorrow and disconnectedness. Only later in life did one of my mother's sisters tell me that I hadn't come home from the hospital with my mother. I had something called "thrush". After leaving the hospital I was sent to live with a surrogate mother for some months until both my mother and myself recovered.

When I was one year old my grandmother wrote in her diary that little Ronnie (me) has a large bruise on his chest and Dr. Wells is angry about it. I was the youngest of 4 brothers.

These early experiences would not become an excuse for bad behavior. But learning of them late in life did provide a piece to the puzzle of "who" I was. Like Mr. Kamiya I find myself drawn to the ideas of Barack Obama and the ideas' ability to restore a sense of connectedness.

This social aspect is prominent in the teaching of Alfred Adler, the acclaimed psychiatrist.

    Adler writes,

"All mistaken answers to the tasks of life are degrees of an infinite series of failures ... or of the attempts of more or less discouraged people to solve their life problems without the use of cooperation or social interest."

Barack Obama is showing us that cooperation and principle are paths to solution of some of our most difficult problems. I applaud him and will vote for him.

    Wow!

Both Clinton and Obama are lawyers. But the Editor of the Harvard Law Review (Obama) those 15 or so years ago is a heavyweight legislator. By contrast we see a lightweight legislator in Hillary Rodham Clinton.

    My God, what a contrast!

I read the Dick Morris baloney after Humanus' post. Hell, if Dick Morris said it, I would throw it in the trash.

My ears are drooping and my tail is between my legs for I have sinned.

  • Bravo Kate, a 98 year old Woman in Florida Agrees!

[Read the article: What I really wanted to say to Chris Matthews]

Enid, my 98 year old friend in Florida, agrees with Kate on this one. Like a number of the posters here, Enid had it tough raising two sons alone and serving in outstanding fashion as our minister (Methodist). She was our congregation's counselor par excellance. She gave sermons so well written and researched that after her 21 years of service, the congregation rarely found them matched.

My father, often sick the last years of his life, once told me from his bed in the hospital, "I know when she comes in the door (hospital entrance)." This spoke to Enid's spiritual presence that few questioned. At age 18 I went to her for counseling. When she left our church for a large Pittsburgh church, she was the primary counselor there.

Naturally I wanted to know her opinion of Barack and Hillary. Enid expressed a sense of "instability" in Hillary. She would vote for Barack Obama.

My friend Enid, the 98 year old retired minister, was considered a "liberal" among her fellow ministers for the various causes that she supported.

"Deeply Christian" would be a misnomer applied to her. She believes in a Jesus that works to help ALL people where they are. She is more in the ecumenical line of thinking.

    She liked Gandhi and Spinoza.

  • Hillary's 1040 Is Germane, So Show Me the Money!

[Read the article: Obama spokesman goes after Clinton on tax returns]

Now writing a $5. Million dollar check may be easy for many of you, but to most of us Democrats that is a lot of money. She can show her appreciation for our legitimate concern by opening her recent 1040's to inspection.

She already receives more lobbyist money than the top two Republican candidates combined. We know that 'when money talks few are deaf '. So money is germane to the whole primary process. 'Ready on day 1' means 'Honest, open, good-faith behavior' on those days LEADING UP to a day 1.

Her 35 year career already is not open to us for our inspection. The emails from the White House years of husband Bill are locked up. Hillary wants credit without showing us how she performed during that period. OK, but show us your 1040's for the last 8 years. You will be required by law to do this anyway after the Convention if you are the nominee.

My guess is that she is hiding something that would affect the public's choice for nominee.

[Read the article: Hillary Clinton, the first Latina in chief?]

Hillary Clinton receives more money from lobbyists than either of the top two Republican candidates combined. Barack Obama receives no lobbyist money.

Hillary has refused to open her tax returns for the last several years until the nominating process is completed. Barack has opened his tax returns to public inspection. She has recently written a check for $5 million dollars as a loan to her campaign. These facts give rise to a question.

Now that this is a two person race, why not open your tax returns to inspection? As it is relevant in the general election, so it is relevant now.
