She's

probably representative of a solid chunk of the American population in that she's confused about what the facts really are given eight years of sucessful obfuscation by the Bush Admin. and the mainstream media. I think it's disgusting that people in her position have not bothered to inform themselves but still have the gall to opine on this and many other essential issues. There's a kind of petulance the citizens of Versailles and many Americans exhibit about 'shouldn't have to work so hard to understand' issues. Perhaps this is just common in human nature, but it smacks of American exceptionalism to me.

Digg this!

As a means, however limited, of spreading the news - Glenn is certainly one of the finest news sources I've come across - please remember to do that sharing thing. I'm committing to remembering to do this. Just a suggestion.

Yup

'Also, is it just me or has Glenn stepped his game up recently?'

You're on FIRE these days, Glenn.

Ouch!

Boots

I already sent him my daughter's muddy boots. They were supposed to represent the children of Iraq who have been slaughtered as pawns to his macho vanity and, what the heck, there were two, maybe one could represent the children of American soldiers, also slaughtered by Bush.

Think he got it? (them?)

Nah, me neither.

Contemptuous

She struck me as someone with little emotional depth whose basic outlook was - the usual one at the whitehouse - of contempt for those who were not herself or above her in the hierarchy. That she was in the position she was says it all about the Cheney/Bush disrespect for the average American citizen and their right to know what was being done in their name.

Original article: Bill Moyers on Israel/Gaza

THANK YOU SO MUCH

for shouting, Glenn! I can't help but hope that this will be the one, final outrage that Israel commits that will finally sicken the world - particularily the American people (who you increasingly represent more honestly than the politicians we have selected do so) - to the point of ending the horror of collective punishment. The Israelis nightmarishly come closer and closer to perpetrating the genocide of Palestinians in the same manner as the Nazis persued the Jews.

I am enraged by my sense of helplessness. How can this ever be forgiven?

Friday, January 9, 2009 10:46 PM

Also

I wish we would see the words 'collective punishment' used more often in the media. It nets an essential idea, and animates it's meaning.

Glenn

I know 'you shoulds' are not really your thing, but I wonder if when you refer to the neo-conservative Israelis and their criminal behavior you might use just that wording. A blindingly obvious point that I see missed again and again by the media and in general discourse is that, as you commonly point out Israel is not a single minded entity by any means, any more than the jewish people are. Why not make more of a point of using that phraseology? It surely wouldn't hurt, would it?

She

is just an object lesson in how to be an profoundly ugly human being. She's also clearly going to go through life hating and lonely. It actually made me a little sad to see the front photo one of her books; she's all twisted up positionally to show of her poor scrawny legs. I remember watching some clip of her surrounded by a crowd of unfortunate-looking, pubescent young republicans males....she was their heaven, clearly. I'm still creeped out by that memory. Also, if you listen to her voice, it's sounds to me like she's almost crying.

The good thing is I don't have to be her.

One Greenwald post?

One? He writes so insightfully on such essential issues, attracting some of the most trenchant and diverse commentary....What on earth is your criteria for this list?

Hate

I am so reluctant to let myself go down the road of hate. I think it hurts me on some essential level to do so. I have to say though, I hate Cheney, Bush (who I sent shoes to today as a Xmas present to myself), Yoo and all the other smug morally-ugly folk there in Washington living out their own arrogant glory.

They've been raping us right out there in the open and the people keep walking by, walking by.

Original article: Shoe-thrower tortured?

Send Shoes! Do it! This would be as light-hearted as I can get about Bush....and maybe as heavy.

I'm going to send my old shoes tomorrow, for Christmas. What a brilliant idea! It's going to be my Christmas present to myself.

No joy

no joy indeed. What do you call conspirecy theorists who're almost always right? Leftists.
