simply the best

at sheer, dogged determination and inspired insight. Holy, you two are The Best. I don't know what America would do without you. Thanks is just too small a word sometimes.

scomo

I won't put Oregon in your name because it's a beautiful state with many fine individuals in it; clearly you're confused. Or at least isolated. You're also abusive in that hyper-defensive way which you think allows you to have something to say.

Unfortunately you can only say, 'I hate you guys!!!' so many times and ways before you simply become the rabidity your foam indicates.

Mark, your last three articles have been important reports on what's actually going on in DC, or as the case may be, not going on. Thanks

I would

just like to say that I feel very sorry for Bristol and her peculiar circumstances. But also, I think that in her own way, she has the grace of an innocent deer caught in the headlights at night. The fact that telling her parents - at seventeen - was more terrifying than labour says it all....her mother is a psychopath, I really believe this to be so. There's a reason I associate Palin and Cheney with guns; they both really know how to pull that trigger, they get off on it. They are ruthless to the bone.

Eventually

you would think all, or at least, many, of those poor suckers who were at the mercy of Cheney in so many likely ways might come out to do him the dirtiest they can do.

Come out, come out, wherever you are....

Do go into the light! Do go into the light!

Maybe the lack of your hetero male friends appreciation for Tina Fey's sexiness says more about the caliber of your friends than about Tina Fey.

It's that Orwell thing;

call a thing it's opposite - 'peacemaker' for one of Ronnie Reagan's new missiles, for instance - in this case 'shrill', means substantive, serious, accessible examination in a consistantly brilliant manner. The republicans and their Rove-like PR have successfully used this method to befuddle their audience. The problem is that's all they've got. And, holy, are they shrill.

The immature boy mentality

that created the 'hurts' form is the same thing that afflicted the Bush/Cheney crowd; fearful of their own humanity, they inflict violence on other people to reassure themselves that they are not the emotionally stunted people they are. Any soldier clearly has to battle a whole different set of odds when they come back from this illegal war; the least the American people can do is take responsibility for our grotesque stupidity and step up to the plate to help returning soldiers. We neglect doing this at our peril. The nation as a whole needs to examine it's crimes and deal with the Albatross around our neck; the army in itself needs to do the very same thing with it's own.

Pleazzzzzzzzzzzz

change that stupid looking picture. If I didn't know better, and the page was a major media corporation's, I'd say you were setting out to undermine Obama's credibility as a competent leader. How on earth did you come to choose such a picture? Proper propagandists you'll never make!

Oh. Wait.

Is this one of those irony things.....

Glenn Greenwald has done some brilliant work

examining how the Military industrial complex is driving the nation to ruin. Congress and the Senate and yes, even the presidency are compelled - through lobbying efforts and media propaganda - to allow huge chunks of borrowed money (that the average american taxpayer will have to pay back) to pour into the armament's coffers. This is a truly stinky, and complex issue that, I believe, may lead to the destruction of America as a democracy. We came frighteninly close to fascism under the Bush-Cheney regime; more and more, wealth inequities are crippling the strength of the nation. Think about this, why are the Republicans demanding tax cuts? Bush slashed, and in some cases virtually eliminated taxes on the extremely wealthy already. The working person cannot afford the corporate welfare these interests - again the armament and media interests - demand.

These are researchable facts. Note how the media is already influencing - through misdirection, and sometimes outright lies - the essential nature of the need for the stimulus money to go to working people.

Washington DC is one big, stinky cesspool; the armanent and media interests completely dominate any political action. Our forefathers would be shocked at how far down the road we have gone to oligarcy. Whether it is too late to reverse course is hard to call. I believe Obama genuinely cares about us, the little people, but he has surrounded himself with proto-fascists and is already being isolated.

If you, as a citizen, care about these issues, start reading Greenwald and then start spreading the word.

I get a kick out of Cheney saying

“The United States needs to be not so much loved as it needs to be respected.”

I think respect is not what you generate when you're too stupid to grasp what blowback's about. I still seriously wonder if Cheney's mandate was simply about increasing blowback, deliberately, and fatally wounding the American nation. Among others. It's just win/win for him and his MIC cronies.

What a grotesque.

don't we call this extortion?

well, don't we? I wonder what would happen if we, in a fit of citizenship, said, 'no more'.....

Hate-ons

I don't know where some of the most virulent commentors who post in your comments come from but, Wow! they really are NASTY! I'm shocked at the personalized hate your posts attract.

I do question whether appearing with Matthews is such a great idea....it does lend a type of credence to him that's debatable. But. Holy! No one deserves the hate from people like farragut.

Please don't let this type of person - Dick too - ever dissuade you from speaking your mind. You've got brains and class. Carry on!
