Disgusting

How ironic that it is the American Military that steps up to the plate to repudiate the utterly unjust and criminal cabal of I-need-to-compensate-for-some-short-falling-Dick and Planted Bush. Indeed, in these dark times, I sometimes imagine that it is the Military that might ultimately stand up for the American citizenry, and basic Ameican interests against the huge private army Dick and George have amassed. None of this stuff is by accident; this admin has always done the most damage against American interests that they have been capable of the soonest they could get away with it. I genuinely believe that unless there is a sea change in this country, that elections will be suspended at the last moment of transition to the new Democrat president. Ten years ago, if anyone had suggested that the things that have happened would happen they'd have been scorned as stupid/nuts. Now Stupid is our Administration's most essential moniker. Disgusting.

As Bebop would advise, in lighter moments, a little laugh to help you cry

Who-eeee Glenn! You're Lava right now, and your're coming through loud and clearly. Keep shaking, look after yourself. Don't forget to laugh, however occaisionally....and for those who have to take this sexually, go ahead. Life is short. And absurd.

Wow.

This is lovely. I felt like a cello on a long extended minor chord. No doubt you have a complicated relationship with beauty. So far beauty is what sustains me, ironically, my own loss just forces the exploration of other ways of seeing. It really is just another kind, more of exactly what you describe. Humour. Not bluffing yourself, truly.

I hope this is not so very much about your uncomfortable view of your insides?

Laugh, the depth of it I believe is way more than we can make our little brains go, And that really is outrageous. Isn't it?

Thanks, Glenn

'Keep up the good work, Glenn. You're one of the best!'

No, no, no, no, no....you ARE the best. The sheer intelligence and surgical precision with which you do your work are truly inspiring in a world that's definitely on the scary side. Thank-you more than I can ever say. I really believe that history will hold you up as an American hero of the first order, and we are the ones to most immediately benifit(sp?) from your work on the ground, right now.

man-crush?

I haven't read all the previous comments (woof) but isn't it interesting how Nazism had that same 'man as sexual ideal' thing, dare I say 'gay' thing - in an 'I can't be out, even to myself, but I sure can admire that out there on the edge, leather....' thing. A kind of Ayn Rand Superhero/Uberguy but with that hot and throbbing ideal.

too much fun? you betcha

You know, you-all, especially Glenn, really are my heroes. seriously. and in a Serious way, of course. Sometimes, love is all you need. Bebop-o's got it ineffably right, again? We are a strange and wondrous species, at times. And now I'm going to use that bad word, love, to say, we didn't get it all wrong, back then. A little bit of heart will indeed take us a long way.

Which isn't to say you shouldn't keep a close inventory on your pockets when you're in the company of scoundrels and that you shouldn't always have witnesses and a recording device for when you engage them, and it isn't to say it's easy to imagine any other scenario than a war crimes trial - life - for those key operatives of Bushco. I'm stuck between wanting to leap into hope at what's happening and registering fear that we have not found the bottom of these people yet. I love you guys. Stay safe. We need you.

Now, really, I should go take the piss out of myself to communmicate some sense of irony. Irony as it's manifested in our culture has had such strange effect on us. Isn't it ironic that revolution is a word Ledeen claims for Fascism? The revolt of the little Elite? against all.....worminess? all being told 'No.'? or what? all throwing off our chains to become Feudal...tenants? I really think it's the don't say no to me thing, to the power of way-too-much. Funny how that goes with the Authoritarian thing. I wonder when people might realize - as a culture - that much of this seems to be about basic immaturity. And how to go about doing that, grow-up, while getting away from Big Daddy with out establishing Big Mommy. (Bey?)

Cheers, Here's to us, whether we just read or also write.

Oasis

I just want to register how profoundly grateful I and so many others are for the efforts and accomplishments of both Charlie Savage and Glenn Grenwald. The world would be a much, much bleaker place for those of us who need to know like we need water for survival.

Greed and Pride, the most obvious sins

Isn't the 'Mayberry' reference to the banality of evil, the cover of simple American values in a simpler time being used to commit domestic and war crimes? I also wish to see these people locked down for the rest of their lives. Let no one forget - every Iraqi, like every Amerian soldier had a mother, father, brother, sister, children etc. who have been destroyed by the machinations of little Karl Rove and Dead-eye Dick and all of the rest of Bushco.

Thanks

Glenn, I just want to say thank-you so much for what you do....you are living evidence that a person CAN act from a place of integrity and compassion and a singular piercing insight into what is driving the institutional and aberant human behavior we are now up against. I honestly cannot overstate how grateful I am to find you. You are like water in a boundless desert.
