<"He's against same-sex marriage and hasn't ever said otherwise. Did you not take him at his word?">

I think the jist of some most of the commentors here is - there's a little problem with his word....here's a list from another thread, many thanks to SlaveRevolt,

BasPos:

Sadly, Obama is just another neo-conservative who is all about continuity instead of genuine, meaningful change. Here's something I posted in a different thread a week or so ago [now with a couple more additions] in response to somebody else, all things by the way that have appeared individually (but never put all together) in various mainstream media outlets over the course of the last two years of the campaign, transition and the time since Obama was inaugurated which demonstrate that he's just a neo-con puppet of the elite:

Obama voted for F.I.S.A. wiretapping

voted for immunity for telecom companies that were assisting the wiretapping

voted for continuation of the Patriot Act

keeps moving the goal posts on closing Gitmo (from "when I'm inaugurated" to "in the first 100 days" to "within a year")

keeps moving the goal posts on Iraq withdrawl and has said that he will "listen to the generals on the ground" in other words don't get your hopes up (and remember that Obama's Iraq plan is nothing but the Bush plan from late last year warmed over)

is ESCALATING the war in Afghanistan

spouts the same myths about 9/11 and the wars for resource dominance

spouts the same conservative b.s. about black people just needing to pull themselves up by their bootstraps

threw Reverand Wright under the bus

invited anti-gay right-wing bigot Rick Warren to give the invocation

is against gay marriage

is against drug legalization and is in fact ramping UP the failed fascist "War on Drugs" (and has as attorney general a rabid anti-marijuana crusader)

is FOR the death penalty

says rich people should be looked up to as role models

continued the tradition of sending a wreath to the Confederate war dead memorial

went to the Alfalfa Club dinner honoring Confederate general Robert E. Lee

praises Ronald Reagan

had George Shultz and Henry Kissinger (!) go as envoys to meet with the Russian government

sounds even more belligerant than Bush regarding Pakistan

leaves loopholes so the C.I.A. can still torture

is in favor of continuing indefinite detention

openly states that the C.I.A. will still be allowed to kidnap whomever it wants

like the Cheney administration continues use of the "state secrets" crutch

like the Cheney administration will continue to use "signing statements" to negate portions of laws he doesn't like

is refusing to release the rest of the Abu Ghraib photos, just like the Cheney regime did

is continuing the Cheney regime kangaroo court military tribunals of detainees after criticizing it during the campaign

is keeping the White House political office after criticizing it during the campaign

the "tax shelter crackdown" P.R. stunt

the "credit card crackdown" P.R. stunt

is refusing the F.O.I.A. requests to release the records of Rahm Emanuel's tenure at Freddie Mac, you know, when he was paid roughly $300,000 for doing practically nothing

Obama's "good friend and supporter" Warren Buffett is personally benefiting greatly from the T.A.R.P. bank bailouts

wears a flag lapel pin like the rest of the tasteless fascists do

made a right-wing speech to the Veterans of Foreign Wars

sided with the Cheney regime over the polar bear issue

had his Justice Dept. fight for continuation of a last-minute Bush rule change allowing concealed loaded firearms in national parks and wildlife refuges

is against reinstating the moratorium on offshore drilling though he criticized the "drill baby drill" mantra of (his fellow neo-conservatives on) the McCain-Palin ticket

backs the "clean coal" myth, saying just what Big Coal wants him to say

kisses A.I.P.A.C.'s ass at every opportunity, proclaiming that Jerusalem should be undivided Zionist territory, that the Palestinian right of return should not be interpreted in any literal way, opposes talks with Hamas (the guys who actually WON the election) and instead continues the Cheneyite policy of talking only to the guys that lost the election but whom the U.S. wishes won, etc.)

asked the Supreme Court to overturn the law making it necessary for cops to refrain from questioning a suspect without their lawyer present

is "limiting the rights of prisoners to test genetic evidence used to convict them."

has said he would campaign for Arlen "Magic Bullet" Specter instead of for someone who's been a Democrat more than a few weeks

urged Congress to back off of Joe Lieberman and to not strip him of his committee chairmanship

goes from claiming to support the E.F.C.A. to putting it on the back burner and saying he wants a "compromise"

goes from being against "Don't Ask, Don't Tell" to putting it on the back burner and allowing the Dept. of Defense to continue to discharge gay servicemembers

is making it quite apparent that he is not going to have the C.I.A. and military torturers themselves, the Cheney regime attorneys nor Cheney, Bush, Rumsfeld and the rest of the war criminals prosecuted, instead is "moving forward, not looking backward", content to see them live out the rest of their lives as free men in the lap of luxury

and had his vice presidential vetting/selecting process undertaken by one James A. Johnson, member of the Council on Foreign Relations and Trilateral Commission in addition to being president of the American Friends of Bilderberg

Aside from all that and more, Obama's handlers have consistently surrounded him on the campaign trail, in the transition and in office with neo-conservatives/other Republicans/New [fake] "Democrats"/Council on Foreign Relations/Bilderberg Group/Trilateral Commission/A.I.P.A.C. stooges.

So it's pretty apparent that Obama is just the elite's window dressing on more of the same Cheneyite b.s. rather than someone here to meaningfully change things.
