Pride

I just have to say that I feel just a big surge of pride when I see progressives getting behind justice, one more time. This is what integrity looks like in action. Yes there are many blemishes in the action on the left historically, and currently, but there is something about attempting to be the best we can bring ourselves to be that gives me hope for our species. And specifically, Glenn, you are simply one of the best.

Thank you so much.

You

and Amy and Sy Hersh and Marjorie Cohen; my particular pantheon, you will be the heroes who historically stand up to incredible odds against you and the people who are voiceless and you will be recognized as journalists at this time of relative abdication of the role by the rest of the media.

yur my hero, already...

I'm convinced

that Cheney promulgated torture BECAUSE HE WANTED TO. He wanted to pass that line, he wanted to shove his super huge prowess down the throats of absolutely anyone, BECAUSE HE COULD. (OK, probably up. And probably that other orifice.) And because he plans to be dead before any justice will ever come about. It was never about getting the truth out of anyone, it was never about efficacy and it certainly wasn't about 'protecting the United States'. This man did more to endanger the US than anyone, ever. It was about Dick and his monster DICK (read ego).

Engaging in debate with this war criminal is all he's got to relive the limitlessness he once had.

Poor Dick. Not very smart, instincts of a hungry neanderthal and is anyone still listening at the CIA? I mean anyone who isn't already blackmailed?

Thank-you Salon!

You have ongoingly been one of the better things happening to this nation's conscience over the last 9 years.

Salut!

This is of course,

One of the many reasons hatred for the US is ever growing. Americans at home may be tricked into believing the nightmare's over, but the rest of the world can just read the news to find out what's happening to the 'rule of law' in America.

Sad just doesn't express it.

Sorry for the profusion of trolls, Marcy

The people who are breaking this down to Repub vrs Demo, most of them trolls, are completely missing the boat. Thanks for your tireless work, and what a treat to see you here on Salon.

I very much appreciate a breakdown of who was responsible for what. It's illuminating if disgusting. What a hermetically sealed sickness these people participated in.

We objectify what we should respect, we lust after what we should worship, we abuse what we should protect.

Thanks for that.

Thanks for that refreshing take on 'menstruation'. this is much more the style of how I'm raising my daughter. Celebrate what it really is....part of who we are on this earth-bound plain. Self reflecting animals. We're handling it.

Greenwald

is simply the best thing that's happened to American politics in DECADES. He's utterly relentless and clearly brilliant. There are many bright insightful writers on the left, but Greenwald is a force of nature. I cannot imagine how I would have survived the Bush years without his trenchant intellect.

Reid

is a complete and utter waste of a bag of skin. He is a propagandist of the lowliest form who plays to win electorially. That's his entire function; to lick at the balls af his corporate overlords and to cringe at their feet.

Russ

Great points; the thing for me is I can see a value in this because it describes what sucessful neo-nazi hate propaganda sounds like. This has to be the ugliest American I can think of. He's a living caricature of what America's insanity looks like up close, a cross between Limbaugh and Cheney. And more and more the world sees America as these two attempting to hide behind the prettiness of Obama.

America is sick. If Rush and Cheney become the face of fascism it seems that actually might help those who are still able to think to see how ugly that reality is. That's something. Isn't it?

and that's not even mentioning

his commitments to restoring human rights in America, and righting the wrongs of the Bush/Cheney administration.

That should be good for a little light hearted chuckle, too.

Don't worry bout us Obama, we're just the little people. Aren't we cute?

Better than Bush, McCain and Palin

clearly. That's an unfortunately easy comparison.

Pretence? Imagine a system where this was not the default position....

"But at least Congressional Republicans had the decency to pretend that they were exercising their own independent judgment -- not subordinating their judgment to the President's will out of "loyalty."

I don't think there's anything remotely like decency at work here.

"Pretending that this funding is merely for the purpose of "wrapping up the wars" is too transparently false to be anything other than insulting -- even judging by the lowly standards of Washington discourse."
