Original article: A new democratic spirit

thank george bush for the high voter turnout

because so many are looking forward to turning HIM and his party out of the white house.

in this particular case, he truly is a "uniter" - he has united the country and the world against his corrupt regime.

January 2009 can't come soon enough - as long as we don't get stuck with Rudy Giuliani . . .

airdisaster.com

What a great website. I'll make sure it's displayed on my laptop's browser before I put it into sleep mode next time I fly.

That should amuse the TSA inspector when he/she asks me to start up my computer, not to mention fellow passengers onboard . . .

clinton won't inspire anyone

if she wins the nomination, the next four years are going to suck.

let's finally put a 21st century face on the US and put Barack Obama in the White (man's) House

Monday, January 14, 2008 05:35 PM

seems rational to me

What's the fuss all about? It's politics, not kindergarten. You think anyone from the right is going to cross the isle to vote for the clintstones? Nope, but quite a few may do so to vote for Obama.

I'm a liberal, but if Hillary get the Democratic nod, I'm sitting the election out.

If Shrillary was to drop out for the good of the party and the country, Obama would be a shoo-in for president.

Then again, if Bill had resigned after being busted for lying under oath about adultery, Gore would have been President in 1999 and we'd all be driving alternative energy cars today.

MBA: not so impressive

The MBA (now, was that an accidental acronym?) has no internal CD/DVD drive, no built in Ethernet, and no FireWire target disk mode.

So, this ultraportable cannot be docked to a bigger machine, nor can a bigger machine be docked to it, except over a LAN, wireless or otherwise.

The whole 'sharing an installer DVD over the wireless LAN' is going to be slower than downloading Hi-def movies, and kludgy as hell.

You cannot remove the battery yourself, so you can't swap out the batteries on a long flight or other trip.

In short, the MBA will be a vanity product. In years gone by, this would have doomed it, but given Apple's fashion cachet, I am sure they will sell every one they can manufacture.

wretched

Or was that just a clever ploy to get this week's token "I didn't hate it so much it made me wretch" red star?

I think you meant "retch" as in throw up, not "wretch" as in

Amazing Grace, how sweet the sound, that saved a wretch like me...

Then again, this strip is wretched enough to make me retch, and nothing is going to save it.

too bad the iPod touch software upgrade wasn't free

Simple - if you "jailbreaked" your iPhone, you won't get the 'free' update, you'll get bricked.

Also, if you've jailbroken your iPhone, Apple probably isn't getting their $20/month "cut" from the "new at&t".

BUT - if you have an iPod touch, there's no recurring revenue to Apple, unless you pony up $20 for the software upgrade.

It would further add insult to injury if the $20 upgrade bricked your iPod touch...

(Pardon my English, is it "jailbroke", "jailbroken" or "jailbreaked"?)

excellent article!

It totally sucked me in. Some people wouldn't recognize satire if it bit them on the ass!

(If it did, they'd get an MRSA staph infection!)

surprised at the venom directed at this cartoon

I thought it was brilliant and succinct.

The United States has become such a surreal environment under the current regime, the only thing left for Bush to do is start a war with Iran and declare martial law so he can suspend elections and rule until the end of the war on terra...

excellent column

This is my favorite feature in Salon, and thanks to the author for bringing common sense and rational speculation to a potentially sensational subject.

@bamage, it's simple

If the entire scandal ever comes to light, people in high places are going to jail. These are indictable felonies.

Obviously, those Democrats voting for this bill are being blackmailed with surreptitious recordings of their own communications (phone, email, etc) made and sent to them anonymously by the NSA as a warning to cooperate or else.

Former Qwest Communications Chairman and CEO Joseph Nacchio faces possible prosecution for supposed insider trading.

He was the only telco CEO who refused to cooperate with the Justice Department and provide the NSA access to the call records of their customers.

Had he cooperated, he would not be facing federal charges now...

He's the man!

If the Democrats make the mistake of nominating Hillary Clinton, the rancor of the last eight years will pale in comparison to the next four.

Clinton is a divider, not a uniter, and her nomination will kill the left's best chances in a decade for retaking control of the political agenda in the United States.

I've said it before, if the Clintons ever thought about anything other than their ambition and self-serving agendas, they would pull out now and let Obama's momentum carry him all the way to the White House.

Unfortunately their self-destructive tactics may well cost the Democrats the general election in the Fall...

She should just say, "I'm not ready for marriage yet"....

and get counseling, with and without him. If she dumps all that baggage on him, he's gonna probably freak, and any chance of reconciliation will be gone.

sad thing is

CNN has gotten a lot more like Fox in their coverage, which was never shit-hot to begin with.

I'm not exactly impressed with the likes of Nancy Grace, Sanjay Gupta and Glenn Beck...

funny how the media spins

plain talk into an 'attack' - when everything he said is true

and he's right - if hillary's the candidate, the democrats will lose the election, no way will HRC be a 'uniter' - she's divisive for sure. great ideas and experience mean nothing without consensus.

once again the needs of the nation sacrificed for a clinton's ego
