and all will be right with the world...
Camille Paglia's Salon column isn't worth the paper it's printed on.
It's all about the page clicks from pissed off readers; too bad I use free ad-blocking software to read Salon.com (and the rest of the internet).
Her writing has all the substance of helium.
he's one child left behind... remember the sign by the bridge in Three Billy Goats Gruff: "don't feed the trolls..."
but wait - he's not dead...
Vuze and other software is like Tivo for P2P - track and download your favorite TV shows for free, commercial free.
Not only free, but DRM free so that you don't have to worry about the source you downloaded from going out of business or failing to support your encryption method (MS "Plays For Sure"-not)
If there was a way to filter out specific commenters based on my Salon.com user ID, I would pay the premium subscription fee.
Of course, there would need to be an "unblock" command for when I want to read the Camille Paglia comments...
this column was good, so just ignore the nattering naybloggers of negativism....
change is usually hard, but usually good. nice job to your designers.
can't this guy ever catch a break?
thrower
Virginia may be a similar situation, but I wonder if we are just seeing punditry gone awry as the beltway media tries to spin an election close to home.
"Someone" spreads a rumor that the Deeds campaign is unhappy with Obama, and then "someone" say Obama's folks are annoyed.
I smell a "FOX" in the henhouse...
posting twice is for dumbasses, too...
But, what a bunch of schizos in the comments. What is this, some kind of blogocracy bizzaro world where everyone gets to spray their graffiti on Garrison's commentary wall?
There are prescription and street drugs for obesssive compulsive political disorder...
I would love it if Google News Would give me the ability to selectively ignore any and all information originating from Fox News. Maybe Salon will develop similar technology for this website.
News Corp headlines are migraine-inducing - the content is drivel.
Polanski is a scumbag.
Also, I like the new format, but there seem to be some bugs - Tom Tomorrow's comic on Monday zooms ok, but this one does not...
Firefox on a Mac...

maybe they want their journalistic license back...
I just saw the remastered version, and this is a great film. I never went to see it when it was released, but I am glad I've seen it now. Another great 80's flick.
Another good American horror movie is Peter Jackson's (and Robert Zemeckis') The Frighteners...
They abandoned Deeds in Virginia and blew it in New Jersey. Get ready for a GOP renaissance if Obama cannot rally the troops and get out the vote for his party in 2010.
One thing that may affect that 2010 election cycle is how well the economy is doing by then - but it needs to be helping more than just investment bankers and insurance companies, or the Democrats are going to get their heads handed to them on a plate.
We're all still pissed off that bankers got billions and the common man got fucked. I notice all of the nice new Chase and Wells Fargo signs going up on defunct WaMu and Wachovia bank branches here - nice new signs that TARP money paid for - meaning "we the people" paid for it.
They're still not lending to useven as they raise credit card interest rates.
That's not change I believe in.
Next, everyone will be forced to buy health insurance whether or not they can afford it. No real public option, just forced compliance with no benefit to real society.
Great for insurance companies, though...
God-Man works in mysterious ways!
I'm hopeful someone is listening... {besides the insurance and pharma lobbies)
and I'd trust a pilot in Congress before I'd trust a Congressman in a cockpit...
This tragedy is already being exploited by anyone and everyone who sees a way to benefit from it, which is disgusting but not surprising. (Exhibit A: Sen. Joe Lieberman, Idiot-Connecticut)
The first casualty of war is truth. I am amazed that one guy with one pistol (the other had supposedly not been fired at all) managed to take out 30 people on an Army base. An Army base! Initial reports mentioned the possibility of "friendly fire" casualties, but nobody has since followed up.
I also wonder about the veracity of the gunman's alleged "Allah Akbar" battle-cry.
The whole incident is probably going to fire up the "if you question the military or the war, you're helping teh trrorists" sentiment that was evident during the first four years of the last Bush Administration.
There is no question that anyone who advances towards a gunman firing upon innocent people is brave and deserving of accolades.
It's just a shame that the entire tragic incident, caused by an obviously sick individual bent on killing innocent people, will be used again and again to further the agendas of fear mongers.
"another huge, inefficient ... bureaucracy would slow and disrupt the delivery of basic healthcare and subject us all to a labyrinthine mass of incompetent, unaccountable petty dictators?"
Obviously Camille has not been subjected to the labyrinthine mass of incompetent, unaccountable petty dictators of the status quo, aka: the for profit insurance industry.
Eithr that, or she has one of those "gold plated" health plans, and doesn't want to pay taxes on it...
Celebrities are different: they're clueless about the realities of "real life"...
