Dude, Your particular angst is shared by thousands of us stuck in the burbs. I suggest you read James Kunstler's weekly rant at the above address. He wrote The Long Emergency, other books about the burbs, and his predictions are not far off. At the very least, you'll soon realize you're not alone in your loneliness. Best, Rod
What's the worst that can happen if Hillary loses the nomination? She returns to New York and continues her duties as a U.S. Senator, which, by all accounts, she's quite good at. Sure, her ego is crushed slightly, but she's talented, smart, and will dust herself off and assist our new president, Barrick Obama, turn this country around.
Dudette, Sometimes you simply have to say yes. Doesn't really matter what you're answering, save drugs or all night stands with fifty partners. There is no dream job, there is no perfect situation. Say yes and things will happen. Unexpected things, not necessarily what you planned, but interesting nonetheless. An expression from a 12 step program actually works wonders. It goes like this. You can't think your way into right acting, but you can act your way into right thinking. Just take the action.
Huh? Why is the phenomenon of peak oil such a surprise? Many of us have followed writers like James Kunstler for years who have outlined the dire consequences of this inevitable event. Why have the primary news sources like Fox ignored this fact? Answer: because right wing journalists see this as a left wing conspiracy, and they just don't want to face the reality that our "way of life" is in jeopardy. Or, to use Cheney's words, our "way of life is not negotiable." Dude, our way of life and the market capitalist system are under siege because we failed to take reponsible action years ago. Why have average citizens like myself seen this event developing while politicos and their hangers-on refused to look?
