I mostly only go there (nyt) to see Frank Rich - i like Frank - and Paul Krugmon, nowadays.
Basically, i'm leary of any News Source with a circulation over >3, present company excluded, of course.
At least President Bush has not revised his vision on Iraq >10/26/2008 "...it was the right decision then -- and it's the right decision today. (applause.)" Forever and that's a long time.
Meanwhile, " We, the States Members of the United Nations, resolve:
To consistently, unequivocally and strongly condemn terrorism in all its forms and manifestations, committed by whomever, wherever and for whatever purposes, as it constitutes one of the most serious threats to international peace and security.
To take urgent action to prevent and combat terrorism in all its forms and manifestations and, in particular:
To consider becoming parties without delay to the existing international conventions and protocols against terrorism, and implementing them, and to make every effort to reach an agreement on and conclude a comprehensive convention on international terrorism;
To implement all General Assembly resolutions on measures to eliminate international terrorism, and relevant General Assembly resolutions on the protection of human rights and fundamental freedoms while countering terrorism;
To implement all Security Council resolutions related to international terrorism and to cooperate fully with the counter-terrorism subsidiary bodies of the Security Council in the fulfillment of their tasks, recognizing that many States continue to require assistance in implementing these resolutions.
To recognize that international cooperation and any measures that we undertake to prevent and combat terrorism must comply with our obligations under international law, including the Charter of the United Nations and relevant international conventions and protocols, in particular human rights law, refugee law and international humanitarian law."

AUDIENCE MEMBER: Right here!
THE PRESIDENT: Right here at Fort Campbell. (Applause.) For those of you who weren't here, I can only say that watching a bunch of Screaming Eagles tear into turkey is quite a sight. (Laughter.)
That Thanksgiving came shortly after the worst terrorist attack in our nation's history. The war in Afghanistan had just begun -- the "Rakkasans" were the first conventional brigade to join the battle. (Applause.) That November day, I said, "Once again, you have a Rendezvous With Destiny." And today, there is no doubt that you have upheld this motto -- you have done your duty, and you have defended the United States of America. (Applause.)
...(snip)
The war on terror, the war against people who would do us harm again, is being waged on two main fronts -- Afghanistan and Iraq. In Afghanistan, we removed an oppressive regime that harbored the terrorists who planned the attacks that killed 3,000 folks on September the 11th, 2001. Because of our men and women in uniform, more than 25 million Afghans are free. Afghanistan is a democracy, an ally in the war on terror. And as a result of your courage, the American people are safer.
...(snip)
The other main front in the war on terror is Iraq. In that country, we removed a dictator who murdered his own people, paid the families of suicide bombers, who threatened America's security. As the regime crumbled, the dictator's sons tried to run and hide. They could not hide from the United States military. They met their fate in Mosul at the hands of the Screaming Eagles. (Applause.)
Because we acted, the dictator, his sons, and their regime are no more. More than 25 million Iraqis are free. And a young democracy has taken root where a tyrant once ruled. Removing Saddam Hussein was the right decision then -- and it is the right decision today. (Applause.)"

@ Che' Pasa <"Science and Philosophy? Who needs them? Truth? Bah.">
Well, as far as I know, Philosophy without Science is little more than superstition ... like Science without Philosophy is mere dogmatic materialism.
ps. bop o. I don't know why they call Glenn angry/pissed off? Dang nation, if you didn't write such calming love poetry, and, if cocktaillove hadn't taken my gun away, me and Che' would have already started a Revolution. Might still yet!
(for Ethics prof. ... and kind-hearted ondelette)
There is a saying; 'if you cut a man, he will cry out'!
All Obama has got to do is what he said he would do. I heard it with my own ears, give or take. ... honesty, 'it's the foundation of every human affair'!
Like bop o says, lets stick together (@ sig.)...
bah.
Whatever. I guess that would only leave the Ups and Downs. Don't be fooled by the tutu, I'm all for "what works" (h/t Digby) Glenn! (Otherwise, it would spoil the symmetry of the ...circle.)
Well, what about the Iraq war Glenn? >"We could begin with people who actually voted against the Iraq War."
Exactly. Lets begin with Obama, then. He was against it from the start. Thats a big plus right there - and rightly so! I call that Progress.
Now, I don't really care that much if Obama has chicken-hawk Hillary end the damm thing... just end it. Soon. In fact, I've always thought who better to go back to the United Nations and apologize for this disaster than Colin Powell? Joe the Biden has already apologized. (*note. I beleive both Hillary and Powell were/are obviously complicit in the Iraq war, but not, exactly, .knowingly. complicit... which is where I would draw the line in terms of appointments, etc.,.)
Personally, I'm still taking a wait and see approach. Dirty garments usually come clean in the wash.
delicate knits wash seperate,
bah.
~re Lieberman fiasco: Lieberman (gads) was a 'senate thing', not an Obama thing. imo.
~I am not unduly surprised by Obama's appointments thus far either. Some Progress (as oppossed to regression?) - One small step for mankind I figure.
ps. Attn: all right wings. I don't know who keeps putting that flashing American-hating Left/Liberal neon sign on my back, but I don't like it.
