@mirththemooser. Well, fwiw, i don't know about the 'pussification of the american male', but i am having a hissy fit over the no "pussy" he part. n/t
~Lwm. You're in over your head. What part of rapture don't you understand?
~Jkalos. wonderful story.
i've got to high-tail it for now,
bah.
Sen. Lieberman should be stripped of his Chairmanship of Homeland Security and Governmental Affairs because he ain't qualified. From what I've gleaned the past few years, I wouldn't let him guard bop's hen house. Much less the homeland.
Furthermore, I don't really give a do-wop what Party (d,r or i)he hangs-out with but if he votes my way I will take it. I suspect Lieberman and the Blue Dogs ain't gonna make it anyway.
>"what would Obama do"? About what?
ask,
bah.
ps. Glenn. ty for hoisting morning joe on his punk petard. gads, that sanctomonious weasel grates on my nerves. Almost as much as mommy on ambien (?) and vodka. ... but o', screw it, i'd tap that too if I wasn't already promised.
o/t (heart to heart).
>"Read the Founders. The temptation to abuse power is inherent in human nature."
I sure hope you're wrong, Glenn.
I would tend to think of the temptation to abuse power as an acquired (learned) perversion of human nature, rather than a quality inherent in human nature. Natural capacity perverted, if you will. I see no inherent temptation to abuse power in human nature, per se.
Perhaps some would say, correctly, greed for example, is inherent in human nature. But I'm sure you would agree, greed, which is to ask for something more (not, necessarily, abuse of power), is a fine quality if one is greedy for knowledge of the law, justice, mercy, compassion, etc.. Greed can, be good. And so on.
Imho, Glenn, the Founders writings, the Constitution, the wise and jealous guarding of the reins of power, the heart-felt desire that we, the people, form a more perfect union (and keep it), establish justice - in no way confirms an inherent temptation to abuse power in human nature. It merely provides a framework to guard against it (and not very well at that over the past few years). Ultimately, I think the Founders, like Chief ten bears, realized 'no paper can hold the iron. It must come from mens hearts.'
bah.
It's impolite to whisper in public Mr. Litt. (*i might get the funny idea you're whispering about me!)
At least Glenn's got good manners. ...keep me posted.

As for the state of the re-union: I sure hope Sen. Lieberman is not in charge of security during the festivities.
oink,
bah.
(Brennan)>"But I think Judge Mukasey is in a very difficult position right now as the attorney general nominee, to be asked whether or not this is torture. And if torture, then, is unconstitutional or illegal, they're asking whether or not waterboarding is illegal and whether or not the individuals, which includes the president and others--if it was used, who authorized and actually used this type of procedure may be subject to some type of judicial action."
Poor, poor pitiful AG Mukasey, he's in a terrible position. It must be excruciating.
Well Glenn ... they might kill me, but they can't eat me. Can they? I don't think thats allowed.
bah.
OTB @ YKW. bop o, you can't bet $1.98 at the track. It's not allowed (no change) either.
ps. I think taoists give change?
Beats the hell out of me, Glenn. Joe Lieberman, of all people, * ... if the right jab don't get you, the left hook will.
I've had about enough of this 'left/right/L/C' nonsense. What, do I fucking look like I'm LEFT/liberal? ...No, i used a pack a gun, for goodness sakes alive!
bah.
ps. I doubt very much Obama 'was (or is) calling the shots.' ... right now.

Ondelette:
>"If there is the inevitable appeal for a stay by the Bush people, he may not be going anywhere until at least January. It's inhumane to keep him in isolation and deprivation (lights on 24 hours is a form of sensory/sleep deprivation) any longer."
My hope is this ruling will, once again, at least put mush-mouth Mukasey in a very difficult position. (*Ondelette, I, too, hope some kind lawyer(s) can stop fighting evil and social injustice, qawking at the bleeding crowd, long enough to get these people some relief).
bah.
Whatever. I guess that would only leave the Ups and Downs. Don't be fooled by the tutu, I'm all for "what works" (h/t Digby) Glenn! (Otherwise, it would spoil the symmetry of the ...circle.)
Well, what about the Iraq war Glenn? >"We could begin with people who actually voted against the Iraq War."
Exactly. Lets begin with Obama, then. He was against it from the start. Thats a big plus right there - and rightly so! I call that Progress.
Now, I don't really care that much if Obama has chicken-hawk Hillary end the damm thing... just end it. Soon. In fact, I've always thought who better to go back to the United Nations and apologize for this disaster than Colin Powell? Joe the Biden has already apologized. (*note. I beleive both Hillary and Powell were/are obviously complicit in the Iraq war, but not, exactly, .knowingly. complicit... which is where I would draw the line in terms of appointments, etc.,.)
Personally, I'm still taking a wait and see approach. Dirty garments usually come clean in the wash.
delicate knits wash seperate,
bah.
~re Lieberman fiasco: Lieberman (gads) was a 'senate thing', not an Obama thing. imo.
~I am not unduly surprised by Obama's appointments thus far either. Some Progress (as oppossed to regression?) - One small step for mankind I figure.
ps. Attn: all right wings. I don't know who keeps putting that flashing American-hating Left/Liberal neon sign on my back, but I don't like it.
