Once more into the breach dear friends.

>"Whether you think he is engaging in them out of justifiable political calculation or some barren quest for power doesn't much matter." ~Glenn

I disagree. I think there is quite a difference between acting out of a sense of "justifiable political calculation" and some "barren quest for power." Especially when operating in such an insidious and vapid political culture as our own evidently is Glenn. What a congress we got.

I would agree that the best, perhaps only, way to tell what someone's true motives are is by their actions... and qualities. In this regard, I think it's a bit premature to lay the blame for this ...thing (FISA compromise) at the feet of Obama. As if he were in on the act.

Also, it ain't over, til it's over.

parting is such sweet sorrow,

bah.

Well, if it's not unconstitutional, it should be.

The 'retroactive immunity' part Glenn.

The IV Ad. transgressions too. Of course. But the scope of these transgressions are limited by one's understanding of complex technical jargon and how that relates to the letter, if not the spirit, of the law - both in the old fisa and the New & Improved version. I read pow wow's link to david kris(?) Lesson (part of a series.) on fisa intricies and, quite frankly, it hurt my head. ...But, mind you, I understood every word of it.

I don't know the scope of our 'legitimate' [external] threats, but I am quite sure there are some dang Internal ones. I think (hope & pray) Obama is 'positioning' himself to fight this 'compromise bill' on the basis of retroactive immunity. As Jonathon Turley put it; its like a bank robber robbing the bank and then getting congress to write a law to say it's legal.' ~rough paraphrase

foh! 'About, my brain! I have heard. That guilty creatures sitting at a play. Have by the very cunning of the scene. Been struck so to the soul that presently. They have proclaim'd their malefactions;'

@William.

A chicken bone is a terrible thing to waste...

and if they're hurling rotten fruit. Well.

Alas, The King has no conscience so it will be hard to catch the spirit of it. (:- did you see that 'smirk' he gave, thanking everybody, before the House passed this thing.) Which proves not all kings are created equal.

It's the sweet Prince I'm worried about! I read Obama's statement on the fisa compromise (which Glenn posted, WSJ?) several times now. ... I'm still chewing my cud artfully and persistently.

I was hoping for nothing Glenn. It was the least they could not do.

You got to watch them Big Time Operators. Nothing but a bunch of heathens.

Hope (a girl i once knew) told me to watch-out for them soul suckers too '...did you believe them when they told you. They discovered you. everything was free as long as you do what they tell you to. think it's true. [but nothing could be further from the truth my love.] did you listen when they told you to change your name. nobody wants honesty when looking at a perfect frame. play the game. [but nothing could be further from the truth my love.] nothings more powerful than beauty in a wicked world.'

Now then, having purged myself of 48 hours of pent-up bile I shall smooth my ruffled feathers down and talk about something else.

@feathered bugs.

It was just a wild hare William. (click sig.)

>"Quetzalcoatl? (No, no, you're right -- that was a serpent.

Well, dang slippery quetzalcoatls.

>And who said dinosaurs and humans didn't co-exist?)"

Not me. They banned me from the Creation Museum for playing with the baby dinosaurs.

The flops are flipping fast now.

ethics/lwm. It's hard to keep up.

~FISA. This whole hullabaloo is all about I.m.m.u.n.i.t.y. imo. If not for RI (retroactive immunity), I doubt we would be talking about this.

~(you/we/our personal communications. Well, if our communications are on the compooter - trust me, it's not private. I've had all kinds of ...people (i assume) put all kinds of things on my pc - ta da, like magic. Every bit of it has been very nice and well done stuff - friends no doubt - still it's a bit disconcerting. *I turn-off my computer when not in use nowadays.)

Personally. I don't understand the poll data showing:

a. On Iraq. McCain and Obama are polling *even*. r u f kidding me?

b. On Terrorism. McCain is polling *19 points* ahead of Obama. Faints dead out.

Lastly, I don't pretend to understand what Sen. Obama is up to - but I hope (til the fisa 'thing' is passed) he does not vote for a bill w/ immunity. That's bad politics.

bah.

ps. William. '...I'll observe his looks. I'll tent him to the quick. If he but blench, I know my course. More relative than this...the plays the thing. Wherein I'll catch the conscience of the king.'

We fain would hope William.

>"Vole-are, woh, oh"

I shall rumage around my homeopathic medicine bag and see if I have anything for that.

bah.

...bop tells me blueberries have some homeopathic properties.

Take 25 uber Glenns add 26 Olbermanns and divide by one John Dean = ?

Johnny Dean says it's (fisa revisions) a monster, legally speaking. Uber Glenn can't figure it out. And, Keith is for Barack Obama come hell or high water... dag nab it.

HR 6304 is a monster alright. The important thing to remember is retroactive immunity. The only thing to remember is retroactive immunity. Say it three times and spin around. (The rest of it is mostly legalized mumbo jumbo afaik.)

***

I recently asked (19/18 yr.old new voters) Koty bugs and Jazzy Razz (nick names) if they were still for Obama for President. They said, "YES" "absolutely" "arn't YOU" "!".

So I asked them if they would still support Obama considering his recent seeming flip-flops on FISA and, perhaps, granting Retroactive Immunity for telecoms!

They said, "what do you think Daddy".

daddy o,

bah.
