Thats my average bowling score. I tutor too.
The Media sure is a mess but, Otbs (on the bright side), the meet tim russert hour this am. only devoted approx. 40min. to Rev. Wright and Barack's patriotism. The other 15 min. were devoted to foreign policy issues.
[Obama, tactfully, never mentioned the 'white elephants' (h/t Frank Rich) in the room - ie. Hagee/Robertson/Falwell/Grahams or, about 75% of white Christian theology in America - during the Russert religious service. Personally, If Any Reporter ever asked [me] about Rev. Wrights' ju ju again, [i] would point directly to the great White Elephant sitting on their heads, yet so oddly out of view.]
The Reagan update. I just don't understand this Reagan thing, Glenn. The main things (the only things) I remember about Reagan is a) Iran/Contra (w/, if i recall correctly, some kind of connection to 'iran hostage' situation right after his election?) b) Ollie North and c) the fall of the Berlin Wall. Now, the only I would call 'good' out of that is the fall of the Berlin Wall - but I distinctly recall Gorbachav(sp)* had *something* to do with that. (*& his lovely wife, Riassa, for whom I named a daughter.) Albeit, my memory was a bit foggy back then, Glenn.
Where was I ... Oh, ju ju religion and voo doo media. I say a Media without facts is superstition.
call it a political calculation but...
abra kadabra,
bah.
ps~ the Real horse race. The Kentucky Derby: "Mr. Brown", pd. $6.80 followed by "Eight Belles" ( a filly) paying $10.60 to place. I made a small fortune thanks to otbs (off track betting service).
*bop, I looked for "derbi moose" to come in, but he never even showed.
Barack is the Republicans worst nightmare. I'll give you 2-1 odds, right now.
I would certainly agree, however, the Democratic primaries do seem to have presented a somewhat different dynamic... and Obama better mind his peas and Q's.
I'm doing the dishes,
bah.
"I did not have sex with those terrorists to whom I gave the missiles in violation of the Trading with the Enemies Act."
All well and good, shizzle, but I have the stained blue dress that the terrorists wore. wingnut.
I've had 33 mint julips, but if I could find my gun I'd shoot hell off hinges, and then impeach you.
bah.
btw mark twain also said '...so full of artless jealousy is guilt,
it spills itself in fearing to be spilt.'
Well bop, after a few mint tulips all the horse @ the Derby seemed to have six hooves and three toes... but I thought I was mostly sober by now!
I could be wrong.
burp,
bah.
I really don't have anything to add about Mr. Gordon's re-porting - Glenn's a neat-freak - other than my usual rant: Dang, they actually pay these people. I can do that (ie. repeat what someone tells me.).
As usual, I thought your suggestion, DCLaw1, was excellent. I can only add that, as I mentioned above, tapping that great well of 'energy and frustration' with the [news] Media is, imo, a vast, yet-untapped, gem of load-bearing, golden ore. Pure gold.
There's no telling what NYT pays Mr. Gordon to transcribe that dribble. They (nyt, etc.) could do a lot better - and I've got the data to prove it. And thusly, once it gets going, economies of scale would kick in and the world will be as one.
bah.
ps. I think Mika slapped morning joe this morning. Now were getting somewhere!
...
catching up, totally o/t: it pays to go back and read threads when you
're sober.
~JNagarya asked "bah. where did mark twain say..." and 'what is it's relevance'?
Reply: I will make you a deal JNagarya, if you can show me where Reagan said "I did not have sex with those terrorists, who I sold weapons to..." etc., I will show you how it's (ie. artless jealously and guilt) all relevant. Or not, either way.
~Dear *COCKTAILHAG*. interesting. I should say so. (in fact, I think I'm in love with be bop o.) Nevertheless, I'm flexible;
* single (i'm so single e-harmony.com should pay me.)
* boy (actually, and I hope this is not a problem, I'm so old I was drinking mint julips when W.T. was still a gleam in Ben Franklins eye.)
* politics (no)
* my space (of course it is)
* your space (see above)
* education (In a manner of speaking)
On the down side, I'm trouble. Trouble with a capital T. It's like trouble just follows me around, cocktailhag. But, in my own defense, it's not so bad once you get used to it (me, that is) and I'm no longer afraid of heights. :)
come, call or write,
bah.
c/o penthouse,
rocky top usa.
As you are relatively new to the front pages of Salon.com, and perhaps MSM in general, you are no doubt unaware of Sen. McCains most recent extrapolations on these weighty matters. He expained it very clearly: he is anti anti-everything.
I will say this; McCain most certainly did Not write what he read in your expose'. Yes, I will give you that small credit. What will prove still more shocking to you, Im sure Mr. Greenwald, is that Sen. McCain is anti-that too.
Otherwise, well done.
bah.
asides~ so, bop, do you really think cocktailhag would date a semi-archaic, trashy, mostly immature guy!!! tell the truth.
ps. Mr. Greenwald. I, too, know a lot people who have ~25 years experience in front of the bench ... just not necessarily in an attorneys role, if you know what I mean.
The hearts physician.
wise words my fine friend.
bah.
