>".8 Consistency With Other Laws.
Nothing in this Order shall be construed to authorize any activity in violation of the Constitution or statutes of the United States."
Moreover, and quite appropriately, all the intelligence activities outlined/described by Ex. Order 12333' (and I reviewed most of them) are, and in most cases specifically, subjected to what's called The 'Foreign Surveillance Intelligence Act of 1978', with all due diligence, etc., etc.
Which only begs the question, Glenn, what does this 'order' the DoJ references have to do with the price of beans in China? i.e. Mukasey's remarks about FISA?
(*Nothing, you say, but i say it's got to mean something.)
pondering,
bah.
ps. About my brain. bop, im with the Timberman and with all due respect etc., etc., people who have to struggle and 'work' to understand you ... are working way to hard imo. :)
im off to the track,
to relax.
mint julips all around.
Thanks for the clarification.
In this case, I would humbly reply to DoJ/Mukasey the following; 'the point of a compass makes no retrograde motion when describing the circumfrence of a circle.' Or, something to that effect.
Congrats on your book, btw.
bah.
ps. >:"(4) Even the DOJ's own response makes clear how deceitful Mukasey's speech was. The DOJ references a passage in the Mukasey/McConnell letter where they blame restrictions imposed not by FISA, but supposedly by Executive Order 12333, which is an order issued in 1981 by Ronald Reagan. That Executive Order has nothing to do with FISA, and could have been amended or rescinded at any time by George Bush (and indeed, subsequent to 9/11, it was twice amended by Bush)."
bop! ...it's 7:39 am. in the Morning. Night owl. Even-steven, I hope this wasn't your last thought of the day! Cut the cake.
ot[I been meaning to tell you, bop, I missed the ...conflict overseas. I never had to fight in any war - other than the Hatfields & McCoys - honest. So, I joined the Navy to ride the waves. All we did was play tag with the Russies a couple weeks per month and, then, it was off for R&R (Liberty Call) 3or4 weeks in some exotic port of call (mostly Med./N.Africa). And believe you me, with access (albeit, unauthorized.) to the Admirals Barge And the Captains Gig (Actually, both boats were 54ft., twin diesels with a lot of brass - plus, the Adm.s barge had a wet-bar.), I made every effort to improve foreign relations where-ever I was at the time.]
Or, as we say in the hills; 'the dog howleth while the moon sheddeth fleas.'
bah.
upon him be mercy, saith: "the moon sheddeth light while the dog howleth."
I would say this, bop o; The kind and gentle teacher promoteth the children to lofty altitudes, as the bestowal of the trainer placeth the little child upon the throne of ether.

"Bush foes see quick OK for AG pick" ~By Laurie Kellman, AP Oct. 17, 2007
Attorney General-designate Michael Mukasey is headed for swift approval with scant objections, the powerful Democrat who will chair his confirmation hearings said yesterday.
"I would expect him to be confirmed," Senate Judiciary Committee Chariman Patrick Leahy, D-Vt., told reporters after meeting with the former federal judge.
"I like Judge Mukasey," Leahy added. "I want him to succeed."
That's high praise from one of the Bush administration's most ardent Senate critics. But it's not an accident that President Buish nominated someone admired by majority Democrats on Capitol Hill.
Another White House foe, Sen. Charles Schumer, D-NY., suggested Mukasey to replace Alberto Gonzales the embattled attorney general who resigned in August after eight months of accusations of mismanagement. Even Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid, D-Nev., has said that Mukasey faces few, if any, obstacles to confimation.

...Hearings begin today.

ps. Agnostic news reporters!
~"Agnosticism (from the Greek α-γνωστικισμός, meaning "without", and gnosticism or gnosis, meaning "knowledge") is the philosophical view that the truth value of certain claims — particularly metaphysical claims regarding theology, afterlife or the existence of God, gods, deities, or even ultimate reality — is unknown or, depending on the form of agnosticism, inherently unknowable due to the nature of subjective experience perceived by that individual."
Sounds about right.
voodoo economics or the merdes touch. I haven't decided which yet, mooser.
cheerio,
bah.
If vanity is a form of education, Cokie would be Prof. of the class ...and George Will would have to be the dean. (*Professional Media School of Vanity.)
I like Katrina. She is passionate and actually seems to have a heart. I think the media big heads treat her like a step-child, though. That's why Cokie was "chuckling" in the background. ...like "now, now, Katrina."
It wouldn't do for me to be on one of these tv news-personality shows. I would wup a half-dozen just warming up... I think I could take Jon Stewart and that tall red-headed skinny feller all by myself. (I may need some help with Colbert.)

raw hide,

I always wind-up hungry reading you.
