Not surprised to see the "mainstream" media totally miscontrue the interview. Did surprise me that former Salon writer and now ABC news correspondent Jake Tapper commenting on this. I guess I expected more from Jake. Seriously working for any big news media must lower people's IQ's by a third.

  • Killer Timeout?

Great idea about the MLB suspensions but considering that MLB pays no heed to the wished of the fans or to common sense I wouldn't hold my breath. But I totally disagree with your assessment of Davidson's timeout.

I know the TV timeout was looming, but at the point in the game Davidson, particularly Curry, looked very tired and they had taken bad shots on consecutive possessions. The timeout gave them some much needed rest, they still had possession and more importantly got their influential PG Richardson back into the game. Good coaching.

On the other hand, their timeout with 16 seconds to go was a waste. Allowed Kansas to set up their defense and the play choice was terrible. Running pick and roll with Curry, who isn't particularly good off the dribble, and Sander, a non-shooter, gave Kansas the perfect opportunity to double Curry forcing a terrible shot in the end. Don't understand why they didn't keep the ball in Richardson's hands while running Barr and Curry through their screens.

But your overall point about college coaches over-coaching is entirely correct. The plethora of timeouts called with 20 seconds left in the 1st half speaks volumes to this. Hey, look I'm coaching.
