Yes, everyone hates mommies, Christmas is being attacked and Christians are being persecuted.
I hate hyperbole.
Face it, she did a good job from her party's point of view. She was effective in rallying her base and the crowd in the room which was her primary goal. While the negativity may have been offensive, the concern I have is that this is the approach that has worked before for the Republicans. Despite her lack of relative experience on the national stage, she didn't look like a neophyte last night.
The real question is will fear work again? The worry is that it might.
And, frankly, we need to stop the comments about her looks, her past beauty queen status, etc. Focus on her position on the policies.
I think I've finally decided that Barak has the best chance of defeating McCain. The Republican party currently seems fractured and much of the base of the party do not like him, but, Limbaugh declarations aside, I still see the base holding their nose to vote for McCain because of the overwhelming hatred for the Clintons.
With Barak as the candidate, I don't see the Republican base as motivated to go vote, which ultimately helps the Democrats. As does the increased youth vote that seems to favor Barak...if they turn out in as large of numbers in the general election.
As to who would make the best President...Barak inspires me but I don't know if he has the ability to "strong arm" Congress and others to actually get things done the way I feel Clinton could. Inspiration might work but you have to, at times, have the moxy to barter your way to compromise. The country is in a mess, and yes, our fractured state is not helpful. But holding hands and singing kumbaya won't cut it.
However, in the end, you have to win to play, and I think Barak can win. If Barak is the nominee, I have the burning hope he can fulfill all of the promise he is now able to inspires in me and in others.
