  • The MSM as accessory

[Read the article: Our broken political discourse]

If I were a child or a teenager and I saw an adult behave towards others the way our government has behaved towards the world and its own citizens, I would expect them to be punished for it. If they were not punished and I began to believe that certain individual criminals or types of criminals had no accountability under the law, I would wonder why anyone would bother to be "good" when they could do anything they wanted by becoming one of those types of criminals. In any case, I doubt that I would have any respect for anyone in authority from that point on.

This is where I differ from some of the more circumspect readers with regard to much of the MSM's behavior. As far as I am concerned, many in the MSM have taken on the role of active and willing participants in the crimes of this administration and and are no less guilty because of it. It is not as if they do not know they facts. It is more that they use the facts if the facts fit their story and change or ignore the facts if they do not fit their story.

I do not think that all of the MSM's behavior is part of a deliberate attempt to cover-up the crimes of this administration. But I do believe that a significant portion of it is a deliberate attempt to obfuscate and cover-up the crimes of this administration. I believe a number of the pundits are full and willing participants in the crimes of this administration.

Yellow journalism has been around as long as opponents in an argument have screamed in each others faces, "Did too!", "Did not!", "Did too!", Did not!" In a time of war, the media often changes from news to propaganda in the service of its nation. That has been the case here. In the beginning, the majority of US citizens supported the administration, its war and the media's support of its war.

But this administration started this war illegally. We know that now. This administration knowingly attacked another nation who had not attacked us and who was not planning to attack us. It is a war of aggression we are fighting. An illegal war. And we are the criminals. To make matters worse, this administration has used this war as a means to gain control over the freedoms of its citizens. This administration is guilty of war crimes against humanity and of constitutional crimes against its own citizens.

If I am a witness to a crime and I falsify information in order to cover up the crime, and it is proven that I lied to cover up the crime, am I accountable under the law? Of course I am. We teach our children these rules soon as they are able to understand them.

At what point are pundits who lie in the face of the facts held accountable for their roles as accessories to the lies and the crimes of this administration?

Are they to be given a "pardon" in the same way and for the same reasons Libby was given a pardon: to cover-up and obstruct justice?

Is that what these pundits think? That they are in no way accountable for their actions?

  • al-Qaida is rebuilding alright

The government has concluded that al-Qaida has rebuilt its operating capability to a level not seen since the summer of 2001, The Associated Press has learned.

    IN PAKISTAN!

All the more reason to bomb Iran. They're as guilty of harboring al-Qaida as Iraq was.

  • @Shooter re: Pensacola, I was ground zero Hugo '89

I'm sorry for your family's troubles.

Having said that, I looked it up and here's what I found:

Subject: E24) How long has it been since a hurricane or a major hurricane hit a given community in the United States?

    Pensacola: 2004 Cat3 Ivan; 2005 Cat3 Dennis; 2005 Cat3 Katrina

    http://www.aoml.noaa.gov/hrd/tcfaq/E24.html

It doesn't say anything about Hugo and Pensacola. It does say this about Hugo:

    Charleston: 1989 Cat4 Hugo

    Myrtle Beach: 1989 Cat4 Hugo

But those cities are in South Carolina. So, . . . "Is that your final answer?"

I just love the Internet, don't you? You can fact check nearly anything in a matter of minutes.
