Original article: I hate my cat!

My other cat is a mountain lion

Thank the sweet Birkenstock moon goddess she only eats babies. Human babies. Sweet tender juicy human babies.

I can live with it

I've always said the sweetest revenge you can ever have on an insane control freak is to give them everything they've ever desired. If Mary Cheney wants to volunteer to be a little cog in her parents death machine and the poster child for doormats the world over, then fine. But I can't for the life of me understand or appreciate Kapos like that. Do they really hate themselves so much that not only are they eager to get kicked in the face by their own parents, they want to do it on a public stage? Holy moly, even I'd support taking her kids away at that point. No the whole side show stinks of something more sinister and corrupted than even the worst day on Jerry Springer. It's evil. It's like something out of Paradise Lost, demonic. It's Norman Bates.

Original article: Real bodies of research

Nigeria sues Pfizer for $2 billion

related to some Constant Gardiner studies having to do with antibiotics research where Pfizers control groups were intentionally under medicated and the test group was given a wild card of a drug that no one had really a clue about what it would do.

Of course in Nigeria, of which the central government has effectively abandoned the northern Muslim provinces to Sharia, local Imams have declared an end to all polio vaccines as they believe the vaccines make Muslim men impotent. Net result, after each year's Hajj you can plot the growth of polio cases world wide in predominantly Muslim countries.

Signal to noise ratio?

Someone grab down their binox and peer down from Mt. Soapbox and gather me some hard data on how many times this has actually occurred. I'm sure it's happened I just don't and no one here, apparently either, knows how much or how often. For my money I'd hate to waste a lot effort pissing and moaning over flukes and outliers. Nor would I bother with a titanic problem I couldn't change, either. I'd like to see or hear a real number. 100 times? 1000 times? 32 times? A million times? Otherwise you really don't know. Think of how you would respond to Correctional Officers mistreating convicts. Doesn't how a big problem it is reflect on the best way you think to address it?

The functional radius is....?

In the US at least my part of it the functional radius break even point in time between plane and car is roughly 300 miles, possibly 400 depending. That means that any trip less than that radius it's faster (and certainly cheaper) to drive. Over that distance it's faster to fly. Generally. Unless-unless-unless etc.

Maybe that number if different in Western Europe. I do know that the drive from Paris to Rouen is about 2 hrs. I do not know if the train is faster or cheaper. Certainly though just like anywhere else Rouen doesn't have a sophisticated mass transit system of its own. You'd have to wait for a cab or a bus to get to your final stop. And Rouen is a big enough place. Not a small town at all. And if you live in the surrounding areas, some of the small farm or suburban villages then transport among them is even harder if you don't own your own car. Try going to Neufchatel. If you don't own a car rent one. Or rent a motorcycle. That's about it.

So a lot of this has to do with isolation, proximity, radius and all those other unique local variables. In the US a town or a suburb can be effectively remote just by being 5 miles away. If you don't have a car.

Well the UK's poet laureate on loan to Columbia

Once openly called for the murder of all Brooklyn Jews in the West Bank. Then defended it. Then screamed racism when he was criticized for it.

Good Job Columbia. Good Job.

Another promise flushed

When regional air carriers switched from turboprops to regional jets we were all told that it would be faster, cheaper, more comfortable, blah blah blah. But that hasn't happened. Of course. They traded your Dash-8 for a CRJ and it more or less takes the same time, doesn't it? Except now it's pressurized and your ears hurt more.

The left will follow anyone who promises to end Iraq

Regardless of anything else they have to say. Tossing in umilimited free Bong hits is just icing on the cake. But if you break it down he's essentially advocating the nearly complete elimination of all aspects of government and governance. Ron Paul's government has been reduced to single function, that of the coast guard and border patrol. No SSI, no EPA, no FDA, no State Dept., no Federal Reserve, no IRS. and with that 28% Federal tax rate he saved you you have rebuild and entire Federal system from scratch, or, push all those functions down to the state. In fact Ron Paul's magical Grover Norquist happy theme park starts to look a lot like the dissolution of the USA into a loose confederacy of states which are more or less independent countries on their own.

If you pay retail you're a fool

Phone carriers discount everything. My Moto-Q cost $80, list price $449. What's the big deal? At that price it's not even worth replacing the battery.

Bottomline

Airlines understand that Americans have no lower bound in crappy service for they're eager to pay. They simply can never make it shitty enough for people not to fly.

Why not? Infinite weed and porn. No laws or government, total anarchy and you can kill people. Sounds like a plan to me.

Don't ever get arrested in socialist France

No habeus corpus

No requirement for trial by jury

Napoleanic code = guily until proven innocent

And their definition of protected civil rights while in police custody is radically different than yours. In fact maybe you don't actually want to peel back the cover of why and how France hasn't been subjected to the same kinds of terrorist bombings as elsewhere.
