All the RNC litter are weak candidates

One wonders why the RNC doesn't simply find another kneejerk psychochristian retard to parrot back the the agenda of hate their base loves? Mitt, Rudy, etc. are all going to fail because they are trying to be Republicans w/o being Republicans. There's a set of core beliefs they have to claim and none of these guys have it. So what will happen is that in order to get the nomination at the national convention, they will all fall over themselves to move further and further psychotically right than the next guy. The national RNC candidate will make Bush look like tame. Whether that person is actually that person or whether he believes a single word coming out of his mouth is unimportant. The American electorate is a gaggle of stupid children who will vote for whomever will persecute the people they hate the most.

And trust me the only reason you don't hear more Sturm und Drang from the RNC now is they're waiting to see what the public response to the Democratic candidates is first. They're going to conserve their funds in order to shape an attack plan against the front runner. And what a target rich environment to work with in terms of the Republican base: A woman, a black man, a pretty boy....All they left out was a lesbian, a wheelchair and an Arab.

Well then you have to tease out 2 problems from one another

One is the use of oil. But the other one is where the oil (or energy) is sourced from. For instance if the US invoked a national program to wean ourselves off of the DEPENDENCY, not the actual use of, OPEC oil. That is slowly turn off our need to rely on that oil so when the OPEC fiddles with the supply we can back away from it as required. Today about 11% of all US oil comes from Saudi Arabia for example. What if, we started down a national plan like the Eisenhower highway program of the '50's to reduce our dependence on that by 1.3%/year. In 8 years would could leave our dependence on that oil. That's not to say we would stop using it, only that we would have supply and pricing flexibility so that we're not held hostage. Today we're held hostage which means we actually underwrite OPEC's refusal to explore new options and make new investments in order to artifically inflate the price we allow them to charge us.

If the solution to that entails by default, a solution to the absolute use of oil vis a vis other alternatives then that's a bonus. But they still remain two distinct problems to solve.

This would allow us to divorce the 'cultural' part of it from the practical aspects of it.

Jebbie

No.

I suppose if you could initiate a kind of impeachment-lite and gum up the gears for the next 16 months or so without actually progressing toward anything that might help. Bush's administration is beyond lame duck it's utterly rudderless, it's a rubber raft in the horse latitudes. If you try to topple them, it's not as if they have anything better to do but fight back. No the key would be to swarm over them like an angry hive of killer bees. A million little cuts a million distractions, a million hearings up on the The Hill. Kill them with process. Because at this stage, where most Presidencies would be concerned with establishing their place in history, Bush is not. He'll leave that up to the Chris Matthews of the world to propose carving his face on Mt. Rushmore. But Bush himself I doubt could care less. He doesn't really understand what history is. Figure at this point he's just getting ready to steal whatever he can.

Edmund Burke was smarter than Marx

Who was of course a dilettante. No, all successful revolutions arise out of the middle class not the poor. This was validated in 1848 when all the 'people's revolutions' in Europe. So if Bush, or the Saloniks for that matter want to rip a page from a philosopher who makes sense, read Burke. And save the Marx, Goldman and Bakunin for your bong. Plato? 999 out of 1000 people find Plato utterly unreadable. Plato is a guidepost of nothing.

I don't think the film was aimed at this audience

Of far left wing unmedicated assholes who want to make a political statement about everything. Maybe when Finding Nemo II comes out you can scream about the colors of the respective fish.

I feel kind of sad for most you. I must be hard to think of so many retarded things to be furious at.

Tragic tragic little college freshman Cid

There were lots of whites opposed to apartheid who defended their homes farms and ranches from attack. I guess if someone bursts into your house, with a machine gun you can read international law to them. And blog about it. But on the frontier you're kind of left to your own devices.

Ok then you don't like that one

Rich people are above the politics of policy. But you're free to hammer out policies that make oil regressively expensive if you like.
