Original article: Al-Qaida's next generation

No the facts simply don't bear that out.

Terrorism or whatever you like to call low impact warefare nowadays strikes targets of opportunity balanced against the political or psychological effect of that target. For every '911' there have been a hundred attacks in instances of Arab on Arab violence. They may love to hate us but they love to kill each other more. Even a cursory glance at the recent history of the middle east and north Africa finds bombings, purges, disappearances, murder, mayhem, civil war and worse a nearly daily occurence going back since the end of WW2. In fact all this nonsense talk about WMD is just that. The Arab and North African countries ALREADY have a documented track record of having used chemical and biological weapons on each other as far back as 1963.

Egypt Army in Yemen - 1963

Libya in Chad - mid 1970's

Algeria on Fundamentalist Algerians, early 1990's

Syrian army on Syrian uprisings, 1984-5

Iran-Iraq 1980-9

Iraq - Kurds 1990's

Iraq - Shiites 1990's

It's simply not in their strategic interests to attack us this way. They can ratchet up the fear since the intention to use WMD is actually a valid strategic posture. It's one that Iran uses today. But to imagine that some faceless state sponsored group of Persians, Africans or Arabs are going to go to effort of attacking us with increasing frequency is sheer wishful thinking. We won't see another 911 attack for a decade or more, and what's important is that we can't and won't do anything useful to stop it because we, like everyone else are fighting the last war. The next attack will be in a completely new way that only the experts we've already discredited and ignored would predict.

And why? Because look at it from their point of view. The so called Islamic people's uprising did not happen. Afghanistan fell, Iraq fell, Yemen is a US ally, Jordan is a US ally, there is near civil war in Lebanon, Elections of a sort, even if they are sham elections, in Egypt, Libya wants to join the EU Good Neighbor policy, Algeria is quiet, recent bombings in Tunisia and Morocco are the exception, civil war in Gaza and the Saudis are no closer to being a fundamentalist state than they were 10 years ago.

Some victory, guys! Viva La Revolucion.

Now this is not an endorsement of Bush, since most of you attention span starved dimwits will see it that way. No this is simply an explanation of why terrorist cells do not see a strategic advantage in another 911 type attack on us. It's simply a bad gamble. If one were constrained to a small number of high profile attacks then one would not waste resources on trying to bring down some huge symbolic American target or worse, attack a large critical real physical infrastructure such as a port, power stations, dams and the like. It's much more effective from their point of view to kill 50 Arabs a day, over there; turn their own countries into a lunar landscape and grab power a little at a time.

I advocate the extermination of all Republicans everywhere

On an industrial scale. And that my friends is political speech. If there was, hypothetically speaking, a death squad that went out and assassinated notable conservatives in the media and politics the country could be saved from their clutches. And that too is political speech. I am fine with living by their rules.

Iraq and a hard place

When I, here suggest just throwing the keys to the flaming shithouse over our shoulder and leaving, the Progressive Guilt-Farmers call me a bloodthirsty maniac for not 'helping'. Ok but when anyone suggests anything else, you balk at that too. I really want to hear one concrete suggestion then. My vote is fold up the tents tomorrow and leave.

Well don't go to VA Tech in either case.

48 casualties including 21 dead and counting. And this is the second shooting incident this school calendar year alone.

I had to flip through the channels today

And heard Rush talking about how he is the nation's foremost authority on weight loss and nutrition science. And I thought, wow that is some balls out Conservatism right there. What a pathetic loser to run and hide every time someone not on his show mentions his name. What a pussy. And Boortz, that assclown from losertown, all he had to say today was how sad it is to be Rush as long as the Evil Menopausal Menance his him in their sights.
