Wonderful news... but...

I still just sent the Obama campaign $100 just to make @#$@% sure.

I won't rest easy until after the election, and maybe not even then.

Will you pundits PLEASE stop jinxing this??

Do NOT say "it is over". It is not, until the last slimy trick is played and the last ballot is crunched on Diebold.

I am barely daring myself to hope for a bright future for our nation.

Please, God, this time... let good prevail.

Can someone explain to me the toy wooden arrow proviso?

This has got to be the STUPIDEST bill element.

"Sec. 503 Exemption from excise tax for certain wooden arrows designed for use by children."

I mean, WTF? Why? Who in the world thought this was a good idea?

Maybe for geography advice...

...McCain needs to turn to Miss Teen South Carolina, because some US Americans don't HAVE maps. Like, such as.

For the sake of the country and its future

...I really hope you are right about McCain being done.

Original article: Paul Newman dead

A great man, a great life, an inspiration to me and many

Newman: "I'd like to be remembered as a guy who tried - tried to be part of his times, tried to help people communicate with one another, tried to find some decency in his own life, tried to extend himself as a human being. Someone who isn't complacent, who doesn't cop out."

Well done sir. We are all better off for your having been on this planet.

If you'll excuse me, there seems to be something caught in my eye.

Which way will it go?

Either McCain cuts his losses by turning the campaign manager loose in a "maverick" move, or,

he plays deny, deny, obfuscate, deny.

He'll probably do the latter. Which means WE need to keep up the pressure. Keep it on the front page.

Brilliant.

Just sent Obama more money. This is a damn intelligent campaign. It has to be. Too much at stake.

Friday, September 19, 2008 07:30 AM

Nader. How can we miss you if you won't go away?

And why won't you put your energy into pursuits that matter, like exposing voter fraud, so 3rd parties can run without being manipulated to serve the ruling party that hates a working democracy?

@jfriesne - Rush needs an addiction... to truth

>I say, good. It's about time Rush had a taste of his own medicine. (hope he doesn't get addicted!)

I hope he does get addicted to the medicine. I hope he can't live without waking up to the taste of the bitter medicine of knowing how poisonous and evil his daily radio uber-rallies really are. In that medicine lies his cure: to wake up, tell the truth, instead of driving the public discourse deep into the fetid swamp of Rovian lies.

He'll feel better, the country will feel better and who knows? Rush may actually start liking himself again, maybe hang onto a long-term relationship for once.

BAM! PWNED!

Yes, yes, YES!

Finally a Democratic candidate who really fights.

"elitist" is the new "uppity"

It's the new code word... pass it on fellow white people. And for God's sake don't spill the code to... those OTHER people, you know what I mean. Wink.

Sopranos ending?

Did anyone flash back to the snap-to-black Sopranos ending, right on the heels of the Journey song?

@sgsanjose: Troll B Gone

It is absolutely rich of you to claim that Obama has made unforgivable compromises while you assume the facade of "Hillary supporter". Hillary made plenty of compromises that were unfortunate from a Democratic perspective, and made some chilling pronouncements including hawkishly threatening to "obliterate" Iran.

But like any patriotic Democrat who cares about the country, I would still have voted for her over McCain, even though she is not perfect and not my first choice. Because the alternative is evil. The country, and the world, simply cannot afford four more years of lawless Bush-like rule.

Say hello for me to your Operation Chaos buddies in DittoLand. Don't worry -- we'll save America, despite you and your friends who love to rob and eviscerate her and leave her for dead.

It's **NOT OK** to be a Democrat and not vote for Obama

Any true-blooded Democrat who cares about this country knows what 4 more years of Bush-type raping of the country will mean.

It's NOT OK to enable the bankrupting of the economy to make the rich even richer and complete America's transition to a serfdom.

It's NOT OK to rush into misbegotten wars, hundred-year occupations, pour out our treasure and blood to fatten the war profiteer buddies of the GOP, diminish our ability to defend ourselves at home and abroad, and further cheapen our world presence.

It's NOT OK to toss the environment to the tender mercies of the captains of industry who will ravage and despoil without any thought other than their profit margin.

It's NOT OK to eviscerate the Constitution and rule of law at home and abroad, to degrade our nation to that of a banana republic headed by an unchecked strongman and his henchmen and which commits the worst crimes that the civilized world has sworn to stop.

It's NOT OK... and those who don't vote for Obama are signing up for the final plunge of the knife into America's heart.

@AsperGirl... 3 AM... come on.

> Wow, Obama did it with a 3 a.m. cell phone call

Yes. it was 3 am all over the country, because he really is magic! And it was all about insulting Hillary! OMG, you guys are SO desperate.

Where's my can of "Republican-Concern-Troll-B-Gone"?

@ jbklyn - buh bye perfect world...

In a perfect world, the campaign would be about the issues.

That all went out the window when McCain started using images of Paris Hilton and Moses and actually started to get traction.

Yes. It's sad. But I don't want our country to suffer another four years of Bush-surrogate because the best candidate was "above" the rough and gut-punch politics. I'm glad Obama has decided to throw down, but sad for how politics can't be about the things that really matter.
