I double dog dare you, whitesheeting GOP

Present your ugly fat faces at the convention. If some delegates feel the need to have a mock minstrel show, or wave grotesque signs that make it clear you are allergic to melanin (or plain decency) oh please please do. Scare and shock the nation as Pat Buchanan did in 1992. Expose the maggoty underbelly of the Reich wing for everyone to see, so we can purge the ichor of the last 8 years once and for all.

I am SO daring you. Or are you chicken?

@ silenced -- do you even know what happened with the S. C. case?

s> How can I vote for someone who considers me the moral equivalent of a homicide victim?

With all due respect to your experience, the 5 year old child in this case had so much *physical* damage as to call in a surgeon to reconstruct her after she was ripped and brutally torn.

I do think of torture/dismemberment of a child on the same moral equivalency level as murder. Heck even torture on adults I would like to see prosecuted as murder. Yes, even if it applied to those in government who made it happen.

I don't think torture victims would have a problem with that equivalency. Maybe you could interview some and prove me wrong.

A great ad using some amazingly revealing footage

Really, McCain just damns himself as you see the wheels turning in that grimacing head. You can almost hear the internal dialog:

"Crap. I mean it is unfair, but if I say so, bye-bye to those sweet right-to-lifers..."

"Dang, what am I gonna say? I can't say no, that will look AWFUL to the Hillary women I'm trying to lure away. Crap!"

"Ahhhhgggh. Guess I better punt, and I don't want a sound bite on either side. People who know my record know that I'm not going to give women's issues the time of day, anyway. Why make it obvious?"

Another variant for this ad

...following up with the footage with: "The next President will probably pick two new Supreme Court justices. Choose wisely."

Listen up, women. I sure hope you're not even thinking of voting for McCain.

If you want a really wonderful feel-good ABBA movie...

Netflix yourself some _Priscilla, Queen of the Desert_.

BTW, I *loathe* most "chick flicks", and in particular was nauseated by _Sex and the City_

At least I'm not wincing with embarrassment this election year

In 2004, at least twice a week I would bury my face in my hands at the ham-handedness of the Kerry campaign.

Whatever the outcome, Barack is in it to win it. Smart, savvy, and heads-up fighting. I'm proud he's going to be our candidate. Really proud.

And the Europeans will shake their heads again...

At their hick American cousins, who always make such a big deal when their politicians, like so many of the rank and file, have an affair.

@ human power - smug alert

Could you be a little more condescending? I didn't get enough "I'm so much better than you" in your first letter.

The impact of using renewable resources for fuel (especially stuff that would end up in landfill otherwise) is a net win over using non-renewable fuel that has costs including impact to the drilling environment, transportation costs, and more.

I know you purists are never happy unless we achieve total goodness in using nothing but bicycles and public transport. Wallow in your misery while the rest of us take positive steps to improve the world.

@ jbklyn - buh bye perfect world...

In a perfect world, the campaign would be about the issues.

That all went out the window when McCain started using images of Paris Hilton and Moses and actually started to get traction.

Yes. It's sad. But I don't want our country to suffer another four years of Bush-surrogate because the best candidate was "above" the rough and gut-punch politics. I'm glad Obama has decided to throw down, but sad for how politics can't be about the things that really matter.

@AsperGirl... 3 AM... come on.

> Wow, Obama did it with a 3 a.m. cell phone call

Yes. it was 3 am all over the country, because he really is magic! And it was all about insulting Hillary! OMG, you guys are SO desperate.

Where's my can of "Republican-Concern-Troll-B-Gone"?

It's **NOT OK** to be a Democrat and not vote for Obama

Any true-blooded Democrat who cares about this country knows what 4 more years of Bush-type raping of the country will mean.

It's NOT OK to enable the bankrupting of the economy to make the rich even richer and complete America's transition to a serfdom.

It's NOT OK to rush into misbegotten wars, hundred-year occupations, pour out our treasure and blood to fatten the war profiteer buddies of the GOP, diminish our ability to defend ourselves at home and abroad, and further cheapen our world presence.

It's NOT OK to toss the environment to the tender mercies of the captains of industry who will ravage and despoil without any thought other than their profit margin.

It's NOT OK to eviscerate the Constitution and rule of law at home and abroad, to degrade our nation to that of a banana republic headed by an unchecked strongman and his henchmen and which commits the worst crimes that the civilized world has sworn to stop.

It's NOT OK... and those who don't vote for Obama are signing up for the final plunge of the knife into America's heart.

@sgsanjose: Troll B Gone

It is absolutely rich of you to claim that Obama has made unforgivable compromises while you assume the facade of "Hillary supporter". Hillary made plenty of compromises that were unfortunate from a Democratic perspective, and made some chilling pronouncements including hawkishly threatening to "obliterate" Iran.

But like any patriotic Democrat who cares about the country, I would still have voted for her over McCain, even though she is not perfect and not my first choice. Because the alternative is evil. The country, and the world, simply cannot afford four more years of lawless Bush-like rule.

Say hello for me to your Operation Chaos buddies in DittoLand. Don't worry -- we'll save America, despite you and your friends who love to rob and eviscerate her and leave her for dead.
