Nice, but I count them as AWOL

As W drives us over the precipice, it was (and is) the duty of every patriotic American to speak out-- particularly if they have a measure of power or respect from others in high places.

This is why I consider the former president and his advisors-- like Colin Powell, who disgorged lies on cue to a skeptical U. N.-- in dereliction of duty, or AWOL. And now, because fearful men failed to speak out, we are careening into endless, pointless war, with a growing spectre of nuclear.

We can only hope these people recognize their duty now, and speak out before it is really too late.

Just as well...

Feingold would have made a great president, but he's right... the Senate needs him more, and he's a skilled and principled legislator.

Thanks for your service, Russ, from a grateful nation.

Ah, classic 90s Newt

Newt is better than a Zippy cartoon for pure craziness. Anyone remember his remarks about men being suited for hunting giraffes, his "diagnostic chair" of the future, and the list of adjectives for your enemies? This guy not only dumped his cancer-afflicted wife, he's been smoking a ton of dope. Looks like he still is.

Original article: Who's the Bush now?

Fallout from the "President son"?

I could be way off base, but this sounds a lot like Poppy is crumbling after weeks of dealing with his petulant, angry, and incompetent son W as he and the family consiglieri (Baker) attempt to salvage the country from his ruinous reign.

Hey Poppy-- we have felt this devastated for the past 6 years. Welcome to our nightmare.

Original article: The bunny vs. the blue box

Meow and ouch, Meg, eh?

Whoa, sorry you didn't like the article. Sure it was a tad snarky, but assholic? Maybe it feels that way because it exposes how shamelessly people with good intentions can be manipulated into buying junk by implying with the feel-good targetted box. Yes, Virginia, people do get rich by exploiting our weaknesses.

The red that may be creeping into your cheeks probably isn't anger... maybe it's embarrassment? But it's OK-- it's just an article, and maybe it'll get people to read labels instead of buying the oh-so-granola packaging and window dressing at inflated prices.

Buyers' remorse, already?

Open-ended question for the voters of Connecticut-- how do you like the mealy mouthed toad now?

- He champions a misbegotten war where escalation is not the answer, angering liberals and moderates.

- He champions a TAX to pay for this clusterfrack, alienating the only people who like him anymore-- the looney nutjob right.

Hmmmm. We had a recall in California, wonder if Connecticut is now game for same?

Why is this not being featured in every news outlet?

There is something very wrong when this big a story isn't published everywhere.

Sunday, April 8, 2007 09:29 PM

Why is this not being aired in the mainstream press?

Time magazine currently has a huge cover article about how the Army has been sucked dry by this benighted, endless war. Why, then, did I read not a word about this outrage?

The horror that is the Walter Reed scandal has shocked the nation. But-- however bad it is to fail to treat soldiers who have laid their life and limbs on the line for this country, it is a specially fetid brand of evil that takes those soldiers and not only fails to treat them, but throws them, broken and in pain, back into the maw of battle.

The people responsible are overdue for a long, dark, painful trip to the deepest pits of Hell. Ultimate shame on them, and shame as well on the mainstream press for failing to report on this.

Original article: Can Gonzales help himself?

Give the man credit

I've give Gonzales this-- apparently it's not easy for him to lie. That alone distinguishes him from the rest of that corrupt crowd.

A little late, buddy

I love how these ex-Bushies get integrity years after it does us any good, in a passive-aggressive, for-profit book. Where were you when the country desperately needed you to speak up, you craven lapdog?

Original article: More questions for Gonzales

Call him up anyway!

This isn't some amorphous thing like some emails. This is a guy who stormed into a hospital room to harangue a sick man into agreeing to violate the law.

Get him up on the stand! Even if the answers are "I don't know" the questions themselves will be devastating.

I wasn't duped

We had a potluck at the house for everybody the day before our wedding, with a dear friend coordinating the potluck platters in the kitchen, and several kegs, good wine, and good company.

We then rented a European motor coach with seats ripped out and couches put in, with a waitress, to open and serve the case of champagne we got from the local winery. The coach was for the 25 close family and friends to be taken the day after the potluck, to the beach. We got married among the surf and dunes and clear fresh sun. We all kicked off our shoes and danced in the sand. And after a brief, teary wedding in God's own outdoor glory, we drank champagne on the bus, as we drove to the Highlands Inn overlooking the ocean. We had a lovely catered dinner with a beautiful cake (though not crazy expensive). The coach then took everyone back, while my new hub and I stayed in a Highlands Inn suite. Mmmmmm.

My wedding dress cost, off the rack and on sale, $200 (in 1991). It was gorgeous and sweet.

Every time I hear of these dupes spending tens of thousands of dollars on worthless trappings, I think, "Those women who need this fairytale have no sense of magic in their real life (or love)." I feel sorry for them, but I feel nothing but contempt for the vultures that prey on their insecure souls.

This rivals Wolfowitz's comb licking

Even though there are no visuals, the evocative scenario really makes me feel queasy. Why are Republican politicos so dang disgusting?

I feel really sorry for the hookers in Washington DC. I hope the madam exposes (ahem) all these dirtbags.

Once again... I have to make the point...

It's not just that they're evil. Evil could make the trains run on time, at least. They're evil AND incompetent.
