Ooooh, I think this guy is about to get his own column on Salon

"Whore-o-witz is just telling you what you want to hear. Jews do that."

@Rrheard

"Again for the cheap seats--I do not "hate" Mr. Keillor nor am I bitter. I'm profoundly disappointed in Mr. Keillor's current topic selection and prior defense of the indefensible."

Again, what was there about Keillor's description of a quiet little Midwestern garden party that was "defense of the indefensible"? In Keillor's America, a young girl can play Chopin to the delight of the assembled; when the hapless Africans in my news account gathered to hear music, they were set upon by those bloodthirsty savages you radicals have chosen to ennoble as heroes. If we want to go on being able to hear Chopin played in a garden without fear, we must defeat this enemy as we once defeated the Nazis. And for the world as a whole as for us, the consequences of losing this war would be just as serious.

@Rrheard

While Garrison Keillor was at his Minnesota garden party, a British tourist and some friends went to a small local concert in North Africa. According to the UK online papers, al Qaeda operatives ambushed the party, grabbed the aforementioned tourist, and beheaded him, apparently in an attempt to get Britain to release one of their jailed compatriots.

Please count me as someone who gives not a flying fuck whether Cheney, Obama, et. al. turn captured terrorists into pig feed. Whatever you and TomReedToon may think, the rest of us have a civilization to defend.

"Makes it easier to not bother talking to lefties. They won't listen anyway so why bother trying to change their minds."

That this thread would be filled with the same old third-grade rants about Reagan was a foregone conclusion. But now that we're six months into the Obama administration and the capitalists still haven't all been herded into Maoist corrective labor camps, they are turning on the current president as well.

Once again, the left flies up its own asshole into oblivion.

There's crap, and there's crap

If this particular load of junk science bunk it what it takes to scare liberals into going nuclear, I'm for it.

Now that the Democrats have been safely elected, let it be WW II

"Take away the Saudi sugar tit, and the Taliban collapses."

You got it. Time to go into Saudi, declare Wahhabism to be an illegal cult, hang every one of its promoters, and strip their assets as reparations for all the terrorist acts they have caused. Suddenly, mysteriously, the Taliban will wither away for lack of funds.

I'm also grateful that Obama is president

Now when we blow the DPRK to pieces, the president will be hailed by the Hollymedia as a 'forceful statesman', rather than being termed an 'imperialist cowboy'. His polls will shoot up in Beijing and Paris, not just in the US.

@DurianJoe: I concur

"Regarding fish populations, people like me have a good solution: stop eating fish unless you absolutely have to. Cuckoo, I know."

You got it! If liberals stopped eating fish, and everything else (humanity is a disease upon Gaia's sacred Earth, remember), there wouldn't be a fish depletion problem because those of us left would just farm what we eat, ignoring your crackpot scenarios. There wouldn't be an ugly windmill problem either, because we left-behinds would also be free to get our energy from nuclear without having to shoot our way through your lawyers first.

Okay, @Nat Nabob, here's an example that really gets under my scales

"If I'm wrong great. I'll go stand in the public square in a hemp sackcloth and y'all can throw rotten organic tomatoes at me. "

Years ago the first wave of Greens, having just invented the ethic of Sustainability, got us all concerned about fish depletion. And they made a good case: we farm on land for a sustained yield of food, but we had been mining the ocean. Why weren't we sustainably farming the fish we eat?

So we began farming fish. Within a few years, the salmon and shrimp shortages turned into surpluses. The depleted natural stocks grew back. This made liberals happy, right? Uh...no. The scary articles about vanishing fish were soon replaced by a school of even scarier articles about the putative dangers of farm-grown fish, just as those sacred windmills became evil the moment large corporations actually began building them.

May Mike Judge call bunk on your scare tactics, Miracle Grohe! I for one will be laughing my head off.

@Laurel962: about your argument for moral socialism

" I do believe it wrong, and that it will not benefit society. I also believe it will lead, directly and quickly, to the legalization of polygamy, and of incestuous marriage; once you get rid of "one man, one woman", you are pretty much saying "anybody, anywhere, under any circumstances"."

So why should governments, of all institutions, have any say in who gets married? Marital customs are ancestrally bound to cultures and religions. Your church has its set of moral standards; let the gays have theirs and the polygamists have their own. The capitalist way is to let all these moral systems compete freely. Civilization is what emerges from this competition in the long run.

"If you want to see a truly viscous satire..."

Yes, sometimes I have seen humor that is difficult to pour out of its container.

@Geezer2: Pat Buchanan is to the right what Ted Kennedy is to the left

"Christ, he's been around since Nixon.1, writing for Agnew, I believe. When can we see the last of Pat? Why does MSNBC keep him around? He makes ridiculously stupid statements, quotes specious articles like the Rosen piece, and does it all over the cable TV universe. There must be someone on the right that makes a little sense. Buchanan is so tired. I don't see why Matthews still likes him. A foil, I guess."

My mixed metaphor-dar just buzzed

Should be be using 'gay' and 'Mecca' in the same expression? Wouldn't gays tend to get beheaded if they go there?
