If pits were illegal then just say your dog isn't a pit but a "mixed breed" or a mutt. Disagree about the breed of the dog? Prove it. It isn't like the dog will be registered, it can be whatever breed you want to call it. Get a "pit" from the local papers, just call it a "powerbreed mix" or some other buzzword that the public will translate into "pit". What is the state going to do? Kill all mixed breed dogs that might have some pitbull in them? Regulate how people can advertise unregistered puppies they are trying to sell in the newspaper? I'm sure the state would have no problems doing that though, since it kills thousands of dogs regularly.

I can see these proposals translating into money well spent... All so we can protect some lady who might be the victim of a freak dog attack that probably has a probability of occurring somewhere around 0.000002

Anyone who thinks that behavior regulation via the State can make everyone peaceful and happy and provide you with 100% safety then you are living in a fantasy world, or at least a world I wouldn't want any part of. The slight probability of a dog breaking into my house or the house of some random lady who doesn't secure her property, or a prowler shooting me, is not worth giving up freedoms and choices to the Government. And here I always thought that the Liberal Left were the ones against limiting "choice", or does having choices outside of coercive limitations imposed by the state only matter when it involves some woman's snizz?

I hear that fists are good motivational tools. One black eye should do the trick, after all, two would put out the perception that you don't listen to your spouse.

There are such things as liberal hawks, they are running the Democratic Party while everyone else is either asleep at the wheel or swallowing blue pills to keep the left/right dicotomy, aka fantasy, going. I'm sure all the Dems out there that are confused by their liberal champion doves and are blaming the warmongering neocons for all of their ills, while ignoring their own group of Warmongering Zionist Chickenhawks like Nancy Pelosi, the new "up and coming" triangulated image of War-Goddess Hillary Clinton, and the "independent" neocon-come-lately Lieberman who I guess just couldn't effectively keep up the lie any longer. If you want to blame a Jew blame Lieberman and not the Israeli's or a majority of the Jews because it should be noted that AIPAC represents Israeli public opinion about as well as American Foreign Policy represents American public opinion.

Yes, Bush sucks, Cheney sucks, and the whole neocon cabal sucks. They need to continue following each other like lemmings falling off of a cliff, which they deserve. Good riddance. But if you think that the War Party and the neocons haven't already infiltrated the Democratic leadership and are make nice nice with Hillary and the gang to keep the war profits rolling then go ahead and keep thinking that. Enjoy drinking your Kool Aid and being confused while doing so because you purposely fashioned yourself a pair of political blinders. The neocons weren't always righties.

pitbulls are considered "cool" because they are perceived as violent and tough. Ever think that making them illegal will just increase this perception and make them even more attractive to the personalities who seek such traits in their dogs?

It isn't like the people using pits to fight are going to be walking them out in public or getting them registered. Is the dogs that is fighting a full-blooded Pomeranian with papers? No. Dog fights are already illegal, and it seems a little naive to think that the legality of the breed will make people change their minds regarding the illegal activities that said dog will be used for. If the entire operation is illegal, what would it matter if the dogs participating in them are illegal too? It seems like it would probably make the whole thing more intriguing and the use of illegal dogs perceived as the "baddest of the bad" more marketable, providing a new niche to dog fighting. "Illegal Pits in Illegal Dog Fights", man, if I were a scumbag who liked betting on dog fights then that would be right up my alley, a stroll down memory lane to a time when real dogs fought illegally.

To me it is like making pickup trucks illegal because people use them to transport drugs. Making the trucks illegal won't stop people from transporting drugs, they will just use the trucks in private or get a different kind of car.
