There are only 3 doctors left in the USA for 300 million people who perform third trimester abortions. So 25 % of the doctors were killed when Dr Tiller was gunned down.
The Supreme Court allows legal abortions in the third trimester only if there is threat to the health of the mother.
Does not a woman who already may be a mother to other children deserve the right to go ahead with an abortion in order to be around for her other children?
Women die during pregnancy all over the world-- there are rare times when an abortion is called for
Nobody wants an abortion but very rarely a woman chooses it rather than to die from such a pregnancy.
Who can blame such a rare decision?
This is simply fearmongering. We elected JFK who was a Catholic and pro choice and nobody raised that private issue.
Politicians: please announce that abortion remains an difficult unwelcomed private decision and politicians should be busy finding jobs, cleaning the environment and stopping wars and gun violence and proper DNA identification before sending people to death row.
I could not conceive, I was told I could have surgery- I said to myself that there were enough children in the world and I was destined not to have one- enough babies are around-
I am about to run for schoolboard-- the only candidate who does not have a child in the school. I want to represent all the children and encourage academics and deemphasize athletics for those critical formative years when the US is wasting part of the 2 million hours in junior and senior high school -- google the "2 million hours" and find out more...
For mothers day , get active in your own school they are voting May 19 here in New York State and maybe elsewhere- evaluate your school leaders and kick out those who are only in for the salary.
So for Mothers Day- look forward to voting on that school budget later this month and show up at the school and ask to see the budget-- you might be surprised: Ten times more money per student spent on the school superintendent salary ( $400 dollars per child) than on textbooks ($40 per child) in my neighborhood--- more on athletics than anything else.
Go and look....
After reading these letters I discover for the first time that women are shaving their pubic hair and that men prefer plastic boobs--- I suggest that those men just blow up a plastic baloon of a chick and go at it.
Relax women, this too shall pass-- we will look back at this whim of crazyness.
sex is stronger and more lasting than plastic.
This week I learned a new word -- a derivative of homicide and it is called femicide-- deliberate killing of females. I was watching a documentary about Guatemala where thousands of female bodies are found in the ditch, the desert, the riverbed and the vultures cruise above while the society practices impunity and defiance of justice- no real commitment to locate the killers.
We need a discussion of sexuality and how that relates to the spirit of humanity.
In the 1990s was a nurse manager of a student health center and I stood up for students rights to have an abortion if they wanted it and I stood up for men and women to use condoms and get their HIV test and avoid the virus.
Today there are forces out there that want to dehumanize women, overpower them, and make money off of women.
I grew up in the 60s when people explored nakedness and multicolored mumu dresses and long loose hair and unshaven armpits and hair on the legs--and low practical healthy shoes and joy in sexuality as the birthcontrol pill was first invented. Now the word hippy is called a slur while I recall it as a time of celebration of the positive side of sexuality certainly compared to today.
The media including Salon needs to write about something so they write about how people will not vote for a Black man-- they are guessing -- and they are giving people ideas who have only a few ideas in the first place because the media whips up anger and people just want little to do with getting informed and simply shy away from learning anything--- that suits those Republicans just fine-- they want to deal with an ignorant public as much as possible.
Back in February 2008, Iowa voted solidly for Obama but then Hillary talked about are you you ready to make history voting for a Black man or a female? This is not the issue in this election. It is a referendum on the War in Iraq. 2/3 of the people do not approve of this war. That war is the source of much internal needs in this country which go unmet too.
Michael Moore gets a town to "Bowl for obama" and he said it best-- small town USA is ready to vote for Obama-- but it needs active people like Michael Moore and YOU out there to jump start it now that we have 53 days left!!!!!!
