Lucky you
[Read the article: It has been 10 months and he still won't say "I love you"]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]I've never had a girlfriend, never been kissed and, of course, never had sex--what in God's name are you complaining about? What is more, I want to end my life because of this. Quit bitching and be happy someone at the VERY, VERY least someone likes you. I wish someone would do that for me. I'm 23.

Camille Paglia - Iraq isn't cheap: a Q&A session
[Read the article: If we leave Iraq, do we lose for good?]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]Q&A
How long should we stay in Iraq and how many billions should we spend to "win" the war? Do you think we haven't been attacked since 9/11 because of the War in Iraq, or because homeland security has been strengthened. If the war is so important to our security, why isn't there a draft? If terrorism is a concern to the American people, why are we allies with Pakistan and Saudi Arabia, two countries that are undoubtedly state sponsors of terrorism? If the war in Iraq is making us safe, why are terrorists proliferating in Algeria, Spain, Iraq, and the UK? How are we supposed to secure peace in Afghanistan if the British and Russian Empires failed to do so? Will you encourage your son or daughters to fight in Iraq? What's wrong with you?

Tampa Joe is unhinged
[Read the article: If we leave Iraq, do we lose for good?]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]The United States has not unimpeachably protected the world since 1918. Since you clearly haven't passed 6th grade history, I will not deign to explain how egregiously stupid you sound by touting the US as a beacon of freedom, democracy, hope, and virtue in the 20th century.
I'll leave you with one simple question that I would love for you to answer. If a theocracy is inherently evil, why does the United States politically, militarily and economically support the wealthiest theocratic government in the world - The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia?

Embee5861 is mentally unbalanced as well
[Read the article: If we leave Iraq, do we lose for good?]

Freedom is important to us.
It's the contradictory policies, not the freedom that irks the Islamic world. Hasn't it occurred to you that for every action there is a reaction? Read about Iran and the Democracy project there. Also the histories of the entire Yucatan Peninsula and South America will help you understand how much democracy means to the United States. Read an unbiased book please.
Saudi Arabia, Pakistan.

Where would we be, had the French taken the same attitude during the American Revolution?
[Read the article: If we leave Iraq, do we lose for good?]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]This is the most fatuous talking point among conservatives with hidden, terrorist-loving tendencies.
The American Revolution was not unique, we were not the first country to rebel against an imperial power, nor will we be the last (Iraq). Even then, are Canada and Australia worse off today because they achieved their independence later than us? No. Since I'm black, I actually would've supported the British after independence, considering they outlawed slavery a half-century before the United States.

I support the terrorist point of view
[Read the article: If we leave Iraq, do we lose for good?]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]Conservatives have no problems with theocratic governments as long as they have no problem with Saudi Arabia. Until then, I don't want hear a word about terrorism - especially considering 15/19 hijackers were Saudi.

Fellow Liberals
[Read the article: If we leave Iraq, do we lose for good?]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]Just say Saudi Arabia and the conservatives scurry back to their trailers. Pointing out that the Bush Administration, and almost all US administrations since time immemorial, supports Saudi Arabia, even going as far as arming them to the teeth, causes the conservative brain to evaporate, for it is already liquefied.

Newleft
[Read the article: If we leave Iraq, do we lose for good?]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]I think you aren't giving enough credit to the Islamic Nazis - they are anything but stupid.
When Bush announced the "surge" strategy, I perspicaciously predicted that the terrorists would rejoice upon hearing this development because they would have more targets with which to practice disembodying.
The same genius logic applies to withdrawal: as soon as the terrorists sense the U.S. will withdraw forces from Iraq, whether it be a steady or precipitous, they will seize the opportunity and ratchet up their disembodying. Same applies to militias, civilians, and just about any Iraqi. Basically I wouldn't want to be the last American to leave in Iraq.

Lynching negroes is hardly better than stoning
[Read the article: Iranian man stoned to death for adultery]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]Give me a break - Iran is a developing country, just like we were (and still are in some ways), so enough of the histrionics. Honestly I think there is nothing wrong with punishing people for committing adultery (as if every law in the US is grounded in logic: puff..puff - cough) though the punishment ought to fit the crime.
Look back at our history (and trust me, you don't have to look far) and you will find that certain parts of our society that are utterly shameful; but we've moved past that. Give Iran a chance and they'll find their way too.

Victoria L
[Read the article: Iranian man stoned to death for adultery]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]Have you been to Iran? Didn't think so. Oh boy when the sun gently sets behind the majestic Zagros Mountains the freaks come bursting out at night. Iran is the heroin capital of the world, in terms of addicts per capita, and the night life - literally at night - when people are tucked away in their ramshackle apartments, prostrate and piously praying to their divine leader, the Islamic garb is thrown off and the debauchery begins: this is the real Iran.
If it weren't for our greed for oil in 1953, Iran would be a thriving democracy - do you know what I'm alluding to? Didn't think so. Give them time. There are playstations, X-boxs, western cigarettes, clothes, candy, and shoes in Iranian shopping malls - do you want to blow those up.
Their religiosity is specious!

Iraq analogy
[Read the article: If we leave Iraq, do we lose for good?]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]If some Mexican guy decks you in the middle of the street, do you wage a war against Mexicans?
Allllrighty then. Invading Iraq was an inappropriate response to 9/11. BECAUSE 9/11 WAS A HOMELAND SECURITY ISSUE NOT A TERRORIST ONE. Even then, go after Saudi Arabia, a tried and true theocracy, if you REALLY, REALLY care about freedom and democracy. Otherwise conservatives are hypocrites!!!!!!!

[Read the article: If we leave Iraq, do we lose for good?]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]So when are you going to Iraq Greg? Recruitment levels are low, they need whatever they can get - truck drivers, translators, security personnel you name it. When will you enlist?
