@peeps1 Did you fail history or are you just a man-hater?

Because your statement makes no sense. Do you really believe men started *all the wars in history*?

I won't even bother to point out the bloody millions who have died in wars started by women even though it's less than those started by men.

The truth is that if women had the same power as men (yes, I am advocated that) then I believe they would start just as many and as bloody wars.

Are Polanski's supporters just Pedophiles and Misogynists?

One thing I've learned in my lifetime: there are far more victims of childhood sexual abuse than are counted, perhaps ten times more. That means more perpetrators who go free and more pedophiles are roaming around undetected.

Don't even get me started on misogynists. I can barely walk for stepping on their toes. Go ahead and believe that all this stuff is made up and that children are safe and then read the comments of these old men about young women, the victims of rape, and women in general. Read the comments of men in general. Look at the portrayal of women in the media. Look what people call "a strong woman" (meaning strong enough to be naked or show some flesh, for the most part). A woman "who knows what she wants" means a woman who "knows what men want".

It's 2009 and we haven't even passed the ERA. We are a nation of misogynists.

Please, don't tell me Hollywood and the entertainment media are not peopled with pedophiles and misogynists: I find that the entire world has just such demographics. I also find that the concentration of extremes is always higher in Hollywood.

A Dishonest Question

The Taleban, according to...the Taleban, are at war with the US and want to kill all non-Muslims. These are their words. In any area where the Taleban have control, they impose a death sentence on all non-Muslims. Not just words, then, but deeds reveal their intent.

al-Qaeda advocates the same policy.

Why have we not learned that when blood-thirsty madmen say they want to kill millions of people, we should at least believe they are going to try? Why do people still seek appeasement and craven cowardice in the face of people bent on mass murder?

What word is used to describe the act of murdering a specific group of people en masse? Why is this word not used to describe the intent of al-Qaeda and the Taleban (and other groups)?

We don't have the will to fight genocide when we are not its target (Rwanda, Darfur), but when a political group has control and the resources of a state and seeks to murder all who differ or whom it deems unworthy of life (all non-Muslims and many Muslims), why should we not resist, interfere and prevent? Is it not our duty to do so?

Why do we wait until it costs so much more than timely action?

If we leave Afghanistan now, we are colluding in the deaths of tens of thousands, if not millions.

Who is right?

Funny that the writer chose to refer to the Creationist worldview as "inherent idiocy" while declaiming it's adherents as "mean spirited".

The glory in preaching to the choir, as any good Creationist knows, is that they will nod their head in agreement and congratulate one another on their obvious wit and intelligence.

This article could have delved further into the fear that drives such reactions, or perhaps the fear-mongering possibly being used to sell a book or an idea or to gain donations. Were any minds changed or opened because of this article? Any connections made to better understanding, reconciliation or melioration?

Someone once told me it is better to prove you are human than to prove you are right.

Reasoning with emotionalists...

... indicates flawed reasoning.

There is NOTHING you can say to obstinate liars that will expose the lie. NOTHING.

Original article: Can Obama be deprogrammed?

Different audience

Obama's audience can be seen in cross-section on Salon: undereducated, unreasoning emotionalists who do not think beyond 30 seconds into the future.

A comprehensive strategy such as was the New Deal took time to articulate, time to develop and a reasoning mind to understand. Unfortunately, the current climate of anti-intellectualism that began with Conservatives has now infected Liberals. Americans have no idea what Obama is saying half the time (or more) and cannot grasp complex ideas. By "complex" I refer to any idea requiring more than ten words to explain.
