but I can look at it at home later, or bring my headphones tomorrow, no big deal. I also would be sad to see videos completely replace the written column, but it makes a nice change, I think. But really, King, self-absorbed whiners? People aren't being critical, they are expressing their sadness at having to miss out on your wit and intelligence, you should cut them some slack ;-).
Susan
How come you have a link to your archive after some columns, but not all of them? I guess it doesn't kill me to go looking for it, but I miss it when it isn't there (because that is invariably true on a day when I know I missed some columns, and want to go see them....)
Susan
This multiple posts, er, I mean columns, per day thing means I can skim over the posts about sports in which I have no interest, and yet still get to read your writing! And I have more ammunition to pretend that I know something about the sporting world, despite not having time to read much else on sporting news.
I could wish the text was a little bit wider, though. I have a bunch of white space on the right side of my screen. Is there any way they could make the columns fit the window width, for those of us with more useable space on our monitors?
I think the bigger issue is that I have two children, and I know sticking them in one seat belt is unsafe, no matter how smart the air bag is. I just found it odd that you would say that it's the perfect car for a single parent, when the majority of single parents I know have more than one child.
It still looks like an interesting car, but I think efficient cars that more than 2 people can fit in have a much bigger impact on the environment, due to the much bigger market. Not that environmental impact seems to be the main point of this car, with only 33 MPG, and then only if you are really careful.
I just got a BlackBerry in March! I don't need a new phone! The iPhone is just sounding cooler and cooler, though.
I prefer a real book most of the time, but electronic books have been tempting me for a while now, for long trips when I don't want to carry a lot, or when I finish my current book and need something else to read right away. I didn't want to carry around another gadget, though--it's hard enough to keep track of the phone! The eReader on the phone, on the other hand, is very tempting.
I love her Can You Afford It? segment, where she really helps people to clarify their financial status, and remove the emotions from their purchase considerations. I think a lot of her advice is practical and easy to implement. I am not so up on the no stock market thing, but hey, if you follow the rest of her advice, you will have money leftover to put in the stock market without worrying so much about it.
the wife in the Roomba ad calls her husband an ass, and then turns around and calls him her best friend (much as dogs are man's best friend?).
@Unluckyimmortal--excellent illustration of the point that sexism hurts men just as much as it hurts women.
@Derek Dreyer--it is sexist to assume that a), it is the women's job to keep the house clean, and b), men are incapable of doing something as basic as cleaning up after themselves. I can be messy, too, but I generally pick up after myself when I am done, because it is rude and disgusting to expect other people deal with my messes.
That Bounty commercial has always pissed me off--who thinks it is okay to let spilled liquid rush toward the rug while just watching it? And the whole let's sit back and watch mom jump to clean up after us aspect gets on my nerves too. What if mom was busy doing something else?
who didn't get the point of this post. Saying that no one else should dictate the rules of your marriage does not in any way seem to say that traditional marriages are bad, or that people whouldn't have the wedding they want. In fact, isn't that the point?
I couldn't figure out the point of the whole post at all--is it that traditional weddings are fun, even if you don't necessarily agree with traditional marriage roles? Or that having a traditional wedding means you are a hypocrite if you claim to be non-sexist? Or some other point that I missed entirely (the most likely choice, I think)?
Fan is short for fanatics, after all, so a good fan loves their team no matter what, because that's what fanatics do. Fanatics are not rational.
This is all entertainment, though, so who cares? I am a lifelong Cardinals fan because I have always lived in or close to St. Louis. I think it is fun to talk up my team while saying other teams aren't as good, whatever the statistics or records actually show. I like being part of the group. If I moved somewhere else, I am sure I would become a fan of that home team, while still reserving a soft spot for the Cardinals. That, to me, is about committing to my new home, joining in the local group. But, I am willing to concede that people who really love those teams and have all their lives are better fans than me. Because I don't want to be an irrational fanatic, I am definitely willing to concede others are better at it than I am, ;-).

that I actually read! I think I even learned something (about football, that is, although I am probably wrong).
Thanks for entertaining those of us who are still at work...
