  • Blindness to truth does not make a lie the truth

[Read the article: Why Jeremiah Wright is so wrong]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]

First Obama is not Reverend Wright and Reverend Wright is not Obama. Second, The CIA calls what Reverend Wright calls "chickens coming home to roost", Blow back. Third, The bible says nations that wage unjust wars and kill innocent people will be damned. Got a problem with that, take it up with God.

I do not like anything about Reverend Wright. He is an arrogant self-serving egotistical bastard. But what he said, however inept, was not untrue. America has been toppling democracies and installing dictators around the world for 50 years to serve corporate interests, not national security interests. We created Saddam Hussein, Osama Bin Laden, The Shah of Iran and on and on and on.

Ignorance is no excuse, Ms. Walsh. You have a brain. Use it.

  • The Democrats' God problem

[Read the article: The Democrats' God problem]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]

While our global corporate CEOs grow ever richer, stockholders, workers and consumers grow poorer. Our factories move overseas while corporations outsource jobs or bring immigrants in to fill high tech jobs for half the salaries they would pay U.S. Citizens. The basic costs of living are doubling, foreclosures are doubling, bankruptcies are doubling, impoverishing our once thriving middle class and threatening most working people with a darker, poorer future.

Global corporations, who have all but destroyed the middle class, think they have found an Achilles heel in the young hero, Obama. If they can tie him to Reverend Wright, the pastor who seems so jealous of his success, they have the chance to bring Obama down. If successful, it would prevent Obama from unmasking the agenda of the five mighty global corporations that now dominate American media, politics and government.

We are in an necessary and ill-advised preemptive war in Iraq that has made us less safe, challenged our moral authority in the world, weakened our military and drained our treasury. At this moment in time, Barack Obama may be the only person alive who can save America. It appears that once again those in power can use false propaganda to persuade the masses to call for the crucifixion of the one who has come to save them. I pray this time, the story will have a different ending, and the people will recognize their savior before it is too late.

  • EVERYTHING CHANGED AFTER 9-11

[Read the article: So long, Canada]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]

And its time we changed everything back. Living for the end of an error - January 21, 2009!!!!

  • Polls are becoming terribly inaccurate

[Read the article: Ignore the McCain vs. Obama polls]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]

Since you cannot poll people on cell phones and a huge number of under forty somethings use cell phones EXCLUSIVELY and have NO LAND LINES, polls tend to skew to favor older voters' choices. This explains why Barack Obama usually does much better than polls indicate except in states where the population has a median voter age above 45.

Unless there is an act of God, John McCain will get 40% or less in the final tally and will pick up no more than 15 states. Presumably Obama will be the nominee and will likely score a landslide victory (barring it being discovered that he is an ax murderer or child molester). The House and the Senate will have the healthiest Democratic majorities in generation.

In case the pundits haven't gotten the message, we are as mad as hell and we are not going to take it anymore. I have voted Republican all my 54 years and this November, I am voting a straight Democratic ticket. I am so tired of being lied to by Republicans, tired of Karl Rovian politics and just generally tired of being screwed. It could be a generation or more before Republicans get back in power. As a 54 year old white upper middle-class great-grandson of Mississippi plantation owners living in Nashville TN, a Teenage and College Republican, an ardent supporter of Nixon, Ford, Reagan, Bush I, Dole, George W in 2000 (I sat out 2004) let me be clear. I WILL NEVER EVER VOTE REPUBLICAN AGAIN!!!

  • MY DISLIKE OF HILLARY HAS NOTHING TO DO WITH HER GENDER

[Read the article: Quote of the Day]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]

Many people dislike Hillary for the reason I do. She is a compulsive, perhaps pathological liar. Though she has many good qualities, what comes back time and time again - from friends and enemies - is her difficulty in being truthful, even when there is no need to lie. George W Bush has a similar problem. So did Bill Clinton and George H W Bush.

I am tired of all the lies. Lies that even someone as removed form Washington DC as I am can see clearly. I admire Hillary Clinton's intelligence and passion, but her lies are what did her in. Pretending it was anything else is counter productive.

If Barack Obama is the nominee, I suspect John and Cindy McCain's propensity to prevaricate will also do McCain in. Both have already lied enough this campaign season to put Pinocchio to shame. As more comes out about McCain's questionable real estate dealings in Arizona and Nevada as well as the truth about his so called Campaign finance proposals that included vbery specific exclusions that would benefit him, his good guy image will evaporate.

  • How much of the $22 million was from the Clintons, I wonder?

[Read the article: Clinton raised $22 million in April ]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]

Okay, I'm cynical. I find the Clintons, once inspiring, to be a bit frightening now. Clearly this primary is over, but Clinton is now saying, even if Obama wins the required 2025 delegates, she will continue fighting. Fighting what? To keep Obama out of the White house so she can run again in 2012? Or is the Clinton black mail machine going to kick in and force the super delegates, many of whom owe at least part of that status to the Clintons, to change the rules to favor her?

When this all started, Senator Clinton and Former President Clinton had escaped much of the disgrace and shame of their last years in office. They had reached statesman status and were revered by many. The Clintons are like someone you meet years after breaking up and forgetting why you ever broke up. You start the dance again only to remember later, the original break up was a good thing.

Hillary, we are over. So over.
