This is the one prayer that I had for our nation: That President Obama would be doing these appointments, and NOT McCain/Cheney, and so my prayer has been answered. Glenn, you are one of the few who kept reminding us about this critical fact during the campaigns, while most of the media was silent on the matter (or wasn't giving it as much "ink" as I thought deserved).

It has been said that Obama chose the judge as a political move, because he knew that the Limbaughs, Gingriches, and Becks and other philosophical leaders of the right would pounce on it in a manner that would show their true colors and instantly alienate any shred of residual support in the Hispanic universe.

Glenn, do you think that's true? Or, do you think he did this with a "grander design" in mind, that being a restructuring and realignment of the court over the next eight years, assuming that he'll have at least two more vacancies to fill?
