Give me a break...if you dont like the "shtick" change the channel...and it is a freedom of speech issue darling. When you take away the forum, you take away the speech. This was gross overkill and overreaction by a lot of people who ought to know better. Yeau, it was a crude, hurtful comment, but the ones hurt are the only ones he owed an apology to. He groveled for three days before people he owed nothing to. American blacks are hyper-sensitive to everything and invented the terms he used, terms they use toward whites as well. Imus doesnt deserve what is happening to him. But deserving in current Americana, land of the politically correct, home to the greatest accumulation of pansies on planet earth, means nothing. Its all about money, genuflecting to the screaming mob when dollars are in play, and reflective of knee-jerk, illogical comments like yours. People watched and listened to Imus because he undressed the ruling class. He went too far this time and probably on other occasions poking at sacred cows. But that was the deal. You shouldnt go ballistic about it. Move on if you dont like it. Hes going to be gone, and thats too bad. What youre left with are the milquetoast, cookie-cutter, feel-good crap purveyers, like Hillary, and the insane and inane right wing kool-aid drinkers. You deserve what you get. He didn't.
Investigation huh. A little perusing of some purloined power-point moments. Then we'll have a little report and a few lights and cameras and the columnists and pundits will wax eloquent with rits of fealous jage. The soccer moms really didnt care much, as long as they were safe from aberrant jets. The religious types luxuriated in Shrub's personal communion with the baby Jesus. Onward Christian Soldiers. Those in business and the rich welcomed the tax and regulatory relief. Joe Sixpack, Bubba, and the hijackers of Defense rejoiced in the Bring 'em on braggadocio of the Chickenhawk in Chief. And from that ignorance, insouciance, greed and blustery belicosity sprouted into full bloom yet another term for the absolutely worst, most feckless, and historically ignorant group in history. Enjoy America. The chickens are coming home to roost. Time to pay up.
Hitchens simply illuminates the sordid history of all religion.
Man may well miss and yearn for something to ease the pain of living and dying. Why he is here. Why must he die. He is here for no good reason, and he dies because he has lived. Nothing more. Nothing less. That it seems absurd, wasteful, forlorn, agonizing, hollow to have happened thusly and to in the end mean nothing whatsoever does not belie its truth. The universe is indifferent to man. In inventing superstition, myths, or religion to explain the unknowns of the universe, neither truth nor the scientific method were prerequisite. Truth fell victim to the needs of the Creator, man. To say that God indeed may not have existed but the effort of His creation by man has something of spiritual importance is circuitous nonsense, or bad literature. No unverifiable belief man ever invented has innate value, except as it helped the inventor in some earthly manner, law, or morality. To believe in Christianity, Islam, Judaism, Buddhism, Hinduism, whatever, you accept whole what somebody else said or did, and forever close your search for truth because you shut your mind. Religion is thus a self-imposed mental illness of varying degrees depending on the intensity of the belief. It is mental illness because it denies any opposing information and it is divorced from reality. If it admits doubt or reality, it implodes. Or to put it simply if not crudely, if it aint true, why in the hell would you believe it.
Im sorry...what exactly is your proof again? Because this particular item has been reamed out rather thorougly, and as superficial as Matthews may be, his surface skimming like a pond bug belies the mass of evidence that says Oswald did it alone. The latest crap about bullet materials is just that, crap. All you have to do is read the sad tale of Lee Oswald replete with his prior attempt on General Walker, his purchase of the rifle, his killing of the police officer Tippet near 1oth and Patton for no good reason except he knew why in his guilty noggin, and his wistful, "Gee, Im about to become famous" response to his being charged for JFK's death along with the absence, the total absence, of any other credible evidence of anybody else's involvement, and there is the inescapable conclusion that the guy did it, alone. Occams' Razor. Sherlock Holmes. Gerald Posner. The facts of the case. The problem is Ruby of course, and Texas, and Camelot ended in a flash, and a shocked country who couldnt believe that one societal misfit seeking stardom or recognition for a vacuous existence, a common malady even then before the Paris Hiltons of the world took over, could have done it. But he did. Case closed. The government is a piece of dog poop in a lot of ways, the present one being total dog poop, but everybody except the asshole insane south Florida Cubans loved the guy. Thats why the press gave him a pass on diddling in the pool every day at noon, and why the grief was so deep the whole country stopped for a fortnight. I wasnt 3 months old. I remember. That act started the 60s, the decade from hell.
