Welcome to American Politics, Mr Cole.

"I strongly condemn President Ahmadinejad's outrageous remarks at the United Nations, and am disappointed that he had a platform to air his hateful and anti-Semitic views."

"Disappointed." Not exactly calling for airstrikes or anything. And we're six weeks away from an American Presidential election, which is certainly the silliest of silly seasons.

Obama probably does wish Ahmadinejad had stayed home and kept his trap shut. Mr. Dinner-Jacket's saucy taunting of American illusions of power are certainly annoying. And uncomfortably close to the truth, given our George Bush Jr-created economic and diplomatic weakness.

Not a pleasant reminder at all. Also, very riling to American jingoism close to the election. Which jingoism is still a powerful force for stupidity on the national front. And this time around, stupidity will be fatal.

America, the World, and even Iran would be considerably better off if that little creep Ahmadinejab would have kept his trap shut for a couple months at least. His words help right-wing extremists in both America, and also in Israel, where Tzipi Livni is trying to put together a sane Kadima government, in the face of the looming threat of the insane Netanyahu and Likud's bloodthirsty militarists.

One can certainly wish that Supreme leader Ali Khamenei would have chosen this occasion to keep Ahmadinejad, his yappy little terrier, on a short lease, or even locked in the house.

The world can use a little shouting and insulting right now. I don't fault Obama for regretting that the unruly children are monopolizing the microphone to no good purpose.

Watch out for flying pigs!

My gosh! I completely agree with Joan Walsh!

Watch out for bears refusing to defecate in a arboreal environment!

And the next Pope is gonna be a Rastafarian!

Original article: The dumbing down of the GOP

Read calcareous' letter on the first page

He/she nailed it.

Why the heck isn't that one an Editor's Choice?

Short summary: Stupid people (starting with Reagan) make good figureheads for bastards like George Bush Sr and Karl Rove. They are gullible and don't pay attention to the corruption that proceeds under their inoffensive gazes, giving free reign for the foxes to raid the henhouse.

Hey, this works for the last Robber Baron era as well! Anyone remember Warren Harding?

America's love affair with stupidity is its most dangerous bad habit. We'll all be paying for it for the rest of our lives.

Obama will win Wisconsin

The Fox River Valley (of which Green Bay is a part) is the reddest part of our purplish-blue state. If it doesn't look great for Grampy McSame there, he's toasted, wrapped, and sold for dogs' meat.

The Bushits ran very hard in the Fox and in Waukesha County and the Milwaukee suburbs. That enthusiasm is gone.

We're canvassing all over the state for Obama, and we've got organization and results like I've never seen before going back 5 Presidential elections.

It's gonna be a landslide.

Original article: "Red, White and MILF"

Sorry, I didn't watch the video offered

I guess I should have. After all, a MILF "Mother I'd Like to Fuck" is all the rage among perverts and Mom's basement dwellers across the internet. Perhaps by neglecting such fare, I'm missing out on a cultural phenomena.

Or something...

But, why, I wonder, does the term, and the assumed (since I declined to partake) soft-porn videography merit inclusion in Broadsheet?

Is wanking now a feminist issue? Must we examine every obsessive sex object proffered by our legions of politicist Onanists?

Or does anything with Sarah Palin and "MILF" on it guarantee enough hits that lazy editors will OK it for the shock value?

I wish I expected better...

Stay involved. We now have the tools--we are now the Change.

"The amazing thing about Barack Obama and his team is this: they don't need your advice. This is the best run campaign in Presidential history and, to me, that means they know what they are doing better than you."

This.

Obama knows what he is doing. His platform shakes no earth. But his method pulls down Heaven itself and sets fire to the lake.

What Obama is doing is showing us how to make change happen. Change starts out modestly, and then gains momentum, and becomes the avalanche.

We are starting an avalanche.

I am not a Buddhist, but Obama makes me believe the Bodhisattva in spite of myself. We know in our hearts that we need to reshape our country, and through it, the World. But we have been frustrated because our voices are swallowed and perverted by division, isolation, and distraction.

We are finding our souls again through the work of our hands and minds in the cause of Change. Of change and growth and hope and belief and faith. Of our better selves and our better abilities.

Toward a more Perfect Union. Arcing in the direction of justice, peace, and prosperity. Of pride and diversity. Of safety and courage. Of nurture and progress.

We have a very, very long way to go.

But Obama gave us a start. He trusted his heart, and used his mind to make his hope into reality. He knew that given the ability, we would follow suit. And we have.

The Deal isn't closed. There is no Deal. There is only a promise.

What we will and work for shall become possible. What is possible can become real.

All that is required is our labor and love.

Yeah, baby.
