Biden to Georgia

Look, Obama sent Joe Biden off to Georgia today, to make sure he has an equal part in whatever disaster we cook up there.

That is being spun.

Biden is being invited to Georgia as the head of of the Senate foreign relations commitee. He's not being sent by Obama.

p.s. I'm floored that the talking heads are talking about how great Mccain did during tonight's show.

How are you a Christian? Well, I was a POW...

How would you fight evil? I'd defeat it! (cheers from the audience)

How would you define rich? Having a good family and home...

Reagan, POW, POW, Reagan, drill, drill, POW, hunt down Osama.

It's painful to be reminded of how Bush was always judged the winner over Gore and Kerry and everybody (including the liberals) shake their heads in agreement.

Mas Georgia

Over at Firedoglake (not too off topic, since the jist of this article is about Jane) they are discussing how this "situation" is being spun as some kind of positive for McCain.

They point out that the Guardian has a different take and things.

Cheney on steroids is not who I want at the helm.

Humor is always okay

Stick around, I was/am really in a bad mood after I started listening to the praise being heaped on "I was a POW" McCain after his performance. Obama's thoughtful answers were dismissed as rambling, though a couple of pundits did admit they were "nuanced".

Your use of the word ginormous for Derbig was especially good since it got in the "gin" reference AND the the whole size thing of a Newfie. Good job.

I think it's the weekend and the threads can drift where they may while GG tries to relax, hopefully on a beach with a drink that has an umbrella in it. Hmmm, an umbrella type drink sounds good...

Never mind, never mind, they'll be teaching it at the War College soon enough.

prefaced of course, by the commment, after 9/11 Mooser was engaged with a thorny situation....

Obama's performance...

was good. I watched both him and McCain in their entirety. I didn't see any problems with his style. It was set up as a conversation and Obama looked natural in the setting. I didn't agree with Obama on gay marriage, but that's always been his position, and it's light years ahead of the opposition.

McCain did better than I thought, but now he put his oft repeated POW stories into the MSM multiple times. In future debates, even people that support him, might become annoyed when asked about topic A. he responds with "When I was a POW..."

McCain also got it out there that "Life begins at conception", got that fellow women? That means that most forms of birth control are abortion. If you don't believe me, talk to an evangelical.

I also got annoyed with all the "My friends.." comments form McCain, it seemed canned and forced.

I think the bar was set low for McCain (just like it was for Bush) and he did well to a very receptive audience. I think the bar was set high for Obama (just like it was for Kerry and Gore) and he did better than I thought and even got a few rounds of applause from a polite audience.

Of course it's not "fair" that Obama had to do this, but with the rumors of his not being Christian being circulated it had to be done.

@maturity

Most people in good marriages trust and confer with their spouse. This includes President's.

There have been many brilliant first ladies and none of them were "elected".

@zenhead

So Obama is bad because he's an ultra liberal who's been promoted because of affirmative action? Are you kidding?

Thanks

AncientAssyrian makes a great point Joan. This isn't an attack on you, it's what we Dems always do. We start hand wringing no matter what. What if this tactic doesn't work, what if this group got offended, what if, what if, etc.

I don't see Republican pundits stressing that McCain might not have been the strongest candidate. The only thing they get excited about is attacking the opponent and chastising their candidate for not attacking more. Can you imagine a Hannity worrying out loud that McCain might have hurt his chances with moderate voters because of his stance on abortion?

Also, to the poster that linked to Frank Rich's column in the NYT today, thanks so much for injecting some sanity. I'm going to relink.

@Ellis

I agree, what's also funny is McCain is still able to rectify his moral failing and do the right thing by going back to his first wife who didn't want the divorce.

Yeah right.

Pro-life

If McCain (who is not a spring chicken and has abused his body in the past as well as being abused) is so anti-abortion, why are so many of his potential running mates pro-choice? There is a good chance that they will either finish his term if he falls ill or will be the favored candidate in the future.

If this were truly a major concern of McCain's, there would be no chance of a Ridge or Fioriana, and yet there is...

Yeah, McCain believes that life begins at conception. So the birth control pill that prevents an egg from settling in is murder. Women that fall for McCain is moderate stance are not paying attention.

First wives

Better to move on with a new, younger wife, and then ruminate about it all later, in front of a huge national audience (that included the new wife.)

Don't forget $$$$$. As in over a hundred million of them.
