@bamage

What's truly frightening is that Ashcroft was probably the best of the Bush Attorney Generals.

Texas and wind energy

Texas is a logical choice for wind energy. Lots of big expanses of relatively inexpensive, undeveloped land.

But what does that have to do with the screwing Texas ratepayers?

Back to the point, Texas (with their deregulation) are paying alot more than their regulated neighbors for the same power, not because they want to be environmentally friendly but because they are being screwed.

Unnecessary?

If I found a "lump", I wouldn't just submit to a knife. I'd get the mammogram and ultrasound, then the biopsy if warranted.

On the side, I heard years ago that many "lumps" are discovered by spouses or boyfriends. They are very familiar with the shape and feel of your breast and are more likley to notice any changes, regardless of natural lumpiness. (g)

Original article: Toilet talk

Depends on the room

The only time I've ever chatted in the bathroom is when it has a "lounge" attached.

My college had a detached lounge with couches just off many of the women's rooms. I guess it was an old fashioned touch. I used to study in them, it was quiet and pretty darn private for a university.

Once the crowds really got to a friend of mine on New Years in Tahoe and I took her into the restroom at Harrahs to get away from it. The lounge area in the Women's Room on the floor was crowded with women quietly sitting on the nice carpeted floor. We joined them for about an hour while we took a break.

Maybe the author goes to a restroom that offers an area away from the toilets where the women congregate? Otherwise, ewww.

Thanks

Okay, you convinced me to go over there and now I'm hooked. Them being honest about problems makes me trust them more.

I'm going to give gift certificates to friends and family, I think they'll be hooked, too, and most of them don't need more "stuff" anyway.

@Arne & OT

Congratulations and you look like many of the "cruisers" I know...hopefully you'll be getting to do that in the future. You look like you belong on a sailboat, and that's a good thing.

And now the other off topic...

I was watching CNN and they just reported that Jim Griffin, the reporter who investigated the "do not fly" list for CNN has himself just been added to the list. They're getting more and more brazen, because they can. They showed a clip of Sheila Jackson Lee asking Chertoff about it and he did his typical hem and haw. Unreal.

Simpler yet

On CNBC it was just pointed out that McCain didn't want media traveling with him, so they were shut out.

Now they see that might have been a mistake.

BooHoo.

bang for your buck

Regarding insulation, of course you should have insulation for your roof. But going from a R-30 to an R-36 won't get you all that much, even if it is good practice.

For even more savings, go to windows that are unused (behind always closed curtains or blinds, view of trash cans, whatever) and cut a piece of white rigid insulation (cheap) and put in in the window for particularly hot or cold periods.

It is incredible how much loss you get through windows, even good double or tripple paned windows.

Original article: Knowing me, knowing ABBA

Good memories

ABBA is like comfort food.

One of the best evenings I ever had was in a funky restaurant in Mexico, eating what was called "continental" food, I think I had lasagna, and they had ABBA playing on the backgound.

It still can make me smile.

Sanity

Again, do these people reaaly intend to give over all these new, twisted powers to Obama?

Or will all of a sudden sanity prevail?

Even McCain was smart enought to point out that when the R's were in the majority and trying to change the rules to suppress the minority Dems in the Senate, that things have a way of turning and that the R's might be the minority party again sometime in the future. It was one of the times he was actually being a "maverick" that the conservatives hated him for.

Beatles & Appeasement

I once had a fundie coworker patiently explain to me that the Beatles were the single worst thing to befall America. It finally came out to be because they introduced "eastern" religion to the general population here. He is a member of one the mega's here in California, so he wasn't the only one taught that little gem.

You can't try to make people like him happy..so taking the first verse of Imagine out is not enough, playing their music is already bad in their view.

I guess playing the Beatles at all is part of the long drawn out war on Christians.

@shooter

Good lord, no one here supports Mugabe, okay?

I think Putin is worse than Bush, too. Okay? That doesn't mean I can't have problems with Bush (or in the past, with Clinton).

The military junta in Burma is unspeakable, and propped up by China. I don't want either of their systems either...but I can still advocate for change here.

I can't wait to see a murderer claim that he is being unfairly criticised because he isn't as bad as Ted Bundy.

Shooter, you can do better than this.

@AKA

Do you remember when Clinton first got elected?

There was a number of serious flubs in the first 6 months because they didn't have a protocol person appointed yet, and were dragging their feet on it.

Enough with the hit the ground running B.S., Hillary was a lawyer and a Senator...the same qualifications as Obama. The first lady stuff doesn't cut it any more than it would for Laura.

I doubt a McCain visit would generate the same level of excitement in Berlin, other than with protestors.

What large venue to support the crowds to see Obama would be acceptable to Krautheimer?
