Facts

Yet the fact remains that her town that she ran had a balanced budget going in, and was left in debt. She was the boss.

Gray Davis-D was recalled over for the woes of CA. I didn't hear the Republicans hand wringing about saying that much of the budget in CA was due to unfunded mandates brought about by propositions. I didn't hear Republicans press the Feds to look at energy manipulation, they denied at the time it even existed.

It was all Davis's fault, all the time, repeated endlessly. The voters got the message. Dean Koontz even got a dig in in a popular horror book of his blaming a hot, unconditioned trailer a child lived in on Davis.

The Republican's won...again. And Arnie did what all good Repubs do, he borrowed the money to fix it. Yep, the Dem legislature allowed it, but it was his leadership and popularity that pushed it through. The Dems were thoroughly cowed after the recall.

Yet, here we see the typical crap of parsing what's "fair" to go after someone on.

Is comparing Obama to Moses, the anti-Christ or Britney Spears fair? Somehow legit? Fact based?

I got a decent response from some neighbors who were leaning towards McCain when one said they liked his immigration policy. I asked "Which one?" and they all laughed out loud and admitted he speaks out of both sides of his mouth and he's not the man he used to be.

I didn't then qualify why he changed, what the reasons were, blah, blah, blah. I got the point across and I don't feel the slightest bit guilty.

*******

And for Sue as for holding Obama accountable for anon posts by sexist pigs on boards, I wonder who you can vote for with a clear conscience? You better not vote for McCain, he has a few nutjobs and white supremists that support him, a few might even be, gasp, sexist pigs. And McKinney has a freak or two on her side. Barr's supporters sport a weirdo or two, also. I bet there are former drug dealers, pedophiles, child abusers, etc. that somehow manage to vote for every candidate that runs for every party... You get more than 100 people on your side, odds are at least one will be trouble, even if 99 will be fine.

@Mo

I liked your first version (guns, gays and Guns), I thought it was intentional.

@agore

Yeah, I hear every liberal wants to move to Cuba...

I guess we could be like the VP candidate's husband and simply espouse doing the honorable thing and advocate having your whole state leave and break up a part of the US.

Alaska rules, the US sucks, kind of thing.

How very patriotic, and yet people find Michelle "scary".

Self defense

"I are an engineer" and that accounts for my bad grammar in the last post....

@Xanthro

It's not a huge deal, but here is McCain's exact words as of yesterday.

"You know what I enjoyed the most? She took the luxury jet that was acquired by her predecessor, and sold it on eBay -- and made a profit!"

Defend away or brush away as you will. I somehow doubt if Obama said the same thing you'd be defending it.

@skylark

Palin's a historic candidate? 25 years AFTER the Dems had a viable female VP candidate? Right after the Dems had a viable female Presidential candidate who was a contender to the end?

Be nice to the R's who have attacked Hillary with viciousness since 1992, and on a smaller scale when she was first lady in Arkansas? Be nice to Palin, who accused Hillary of being "whiny" about sexism and now claims that the glass ceiling is Palin's to break?

The R's pick a socially conservative self proclaimed hockey Mom who has managed to incorporate all the best of the borrow and spend policies of the Republicans and it's "historic"?

Yeah right.

Palin criticism

And as a mother who worked outside the home, I find the criticism of Sarah Palin's not staying home with her children bizarre coming from a party that's supposed to be all about choice for women.

What liberal or Dem did this? I'm not talking anonymous posters here who can say anything they want and do not have a microphone?

I've heard this charge, too, and as GG points out, so far the only real tut-tutting about that is coming from Dr. Laura, hardly a voice for the Dems. James Dobson used to be upset about such things, but since it's his team, he's now no longer troubled.

If you can manage to link me to some liberal commentator or Democrat that writes or speaks out and says Palin should be at home with her kids, I'll gladly attack that person.

Whiny

Well he did get a soft ride and sexism did influence the primary election.

Funny, Palin didn't think so. She publically commented on how she didn't like Hillary's "whining".

Carry over

@AKA, The Republicans are selling a weird version of Palin as the candidate.

The "Hottie", the "Hockey Mom", the barracuda, the pit bull with lipstick, the cool chick that can dress a moose. These are all seen as compliments. One RW pundit (in love) was fantasizing that Palin would show up to the convention wearing an ankle holster. She's the NRA dream candidate.

To correct a poster here for pointing out the obvious is over the top.

Sexism

I get that it exists, that it has been used and will be used again in the future.

I got sick of the cankle comments, the pantsuit jokes, the cleavage critiques, the lesbian rumors, etc. about Hillary. Maureen Dowd and her mean girl schtick really grated. Those things paled in comparison to things that were said about her by the Rush Limbaugh brigade, but they were still offensive.

But just because someone said a sexist thing in the past does not make all of his criticisms sexist or illegitimate today. Calling Palin trailer trash is not "sexist" even if it isn't "nice".
