please go dig up some dirt on Crichton to support your view of him as a nutbar
I agree with you that if a person has valid views on a topic, they should be discussed, regardless of their political "team". That alone should never blind you to points they are making.
Thta being said, as someone who does read Crichton books, his bias is evident. I read a book he wrote a book about genetic engineering and cloning. In it, every single time a politician is supposedly making a dumb ass comment on the topic it's a Democrat. Not a fictional one, either. It's Waxman, Feinstein, etc. Because as we all know, Republicans would never make comments on science that they aren't aware of.... It happens throughout the book. Every moral issue is only moralized on by the left. Yeah, right. I guess he's never heard about the stem cell debate.
Crichton also believes that global warming is a vast left wing conspiracy. All those scientists are just part of the plot.
He also has a streak of women issues in his books that frequently get cleaned up when they are made into movies, except the Demi Moore movie (don't remember the name) that showed sexual harassment to be a tool used by women to destroy men that reject them.
p.s. I'm not trying to start a debate on sexual harassment...I might as well start a debate on Isreal or Ron Paul.
First, Gannon is still using the talking points, like he's still part of the team. I'm suprised he wasn't "puzzled".
Second, that's interesting about knowing him best, that's a shot fired across Scott's bow. An interesting one, because the press hasn't been that keen on talking about Gannon and why he was at all the press conferences. It might be a lose-lose situation for the administration to go this route.
Thanks for the article, some interesting points.
You have to admit that a 12 year old boy that would rather curl up with a good book on a beautiful weekend day would be judged by many parents as having a mild problem, maybe even see it as social withdrawal. A "normal" boy should want to be outside playing a game like football or something (if not, wanting to even watch a game would be okay), they should want to be camping, biking, hunting, you name it. Even playing video games is considered a normal boy want, but one that should be balanced with outside "doing something" time. Retreating to his room to read causes concern for many, it's not the norm. I understand, I would want a son to be out doing something, too.
A young girl isn't faced with the same stigma if that's her desire. My parents joked that when I was a teen that many parents worried who their daughters were sleeping with, my parents were concerned with the pile of books on my bed taking up all the space. They liked their concern better. They obviously felt very safe with my choice. I understand where they were coming from also.
I never excelled in Mathematics to the point Silenced did, I was one class away from my minor, but I chose to minor in Computer Science instead. That being said, I was only competent, not gifted.
I think many boys (in reading) and girls (in math and sciences) would do better in many things if there weren't the exterior forces that dissuade them from doing so.
I think we're slowly going down the right path for the girls, it needs to happen for the boys, too.
We will leave, Then you were never with us to begin with.
You obviously do not care about choice, about preemptive war with Iran, about keeping social security viable, health insurance reform, etc. I guess you only care about your candidate, not what she actually stood for. So be it.
Shawn, I asked you before, name one freaking item, let alone two, where Obama is to the "left" of Clinton. (not allowed to say negotiating with terrorists, since Reagan, Bush 1 and 2 and Bill Clinton have all done so, Hillary and Obama and even McCain would no doubt follow suit...) Frankly, my beef with Obama is he's too moderate, I liked Hillary's health care vision better, his is more of a compromise. You replied by calling me a name that hasn't been used against me 3rd grade, let's see if you could do better this time, though my feelings aren't hurt if not.
I will laugh my arse off.
The Republicans will laugh along with you.
I do think that some of the supers won't declare soon. They don't want to embarass someone they admire by voting for the ohter team. Some are just plain cowardly, and hope everything will be decided before they are called on to make a stand...I'm not impressed.
He went out swinging, indeed. He certainly did have the fighting spirit.
My thoughts are with his family.
Any Obama or Hillary supporter that sits the general election out after the Dem candidate has been nominated, let alone votes for McCain out of spite, doesn't care about any issues that their candidate stands for. Both of them are very close when you come down to it.
These fanantics just care about their person, their "team". Thye might as well vote for who they would rather have a beer with.
