Many of these women are attractive, but in a funky, cool kind of way, the way that the late Gilda Radner was.
Amy Sedaris, Lisa Lampanelli and Wanda Sykes all are edgy and interesting, and very funny, but it's not like they would get the roles that would be gotten by the likes of the cute (young) actesses that are cast for your average sitcom nowadays...other than the comic relief, not the love interest.
Hitchens..well I can't comment on him other than not hot, not attractive, nor funny.
Hillary's beginning to do what I thought was impossible. I'm beginning to actively dislike her. I was never a supporter (I'm a liberal, not moderate Dem), but had admired her spunk and fight.
This morning on CNN when asked what experience does she have over Obama to answer the 3 am phone call, she said that both she and McCain has a lifetime of experience.
I guess at this point Hillary would say that Laura Bush is more qualified to be President then Senator Obama is. At this point I guess she would say that both Dubya and Cheney would be a better choice for President than Obama. Screw her.
Are her handlers on McCain's payroll, because if she wins this way, McCain can turn around and win on this isse.
I've got to agree with the poster above, some of Hillary's "base" could easily be swayed to McCain if they become frightened of whatever boogey man the Right comes up with just in time for the elections.
I was kind of feeling energized up until this point, her speeches left me cold.
Moderates want to hear about Whitewater some more.........LMAO
Yeah, even liberals don't want to hear about it anymore, but we are going to here about it ad nauseum.
It also will hurt in the General election to not be able to attack McCain about ties to lobbyists, about support for the indefinite stay in Iraq, etc., since Clinton has the same issues.
I know of 2 people in my neighborhood that used their home as an ATM and just kept pulling money out ...
And if they were overextending, why in the world did the lender keep giving them loans (with many $$$$$ in fees) ?
Whomever gave them the loans, accepted that house (at that grossly inflated appraisal) as the collateral. That's the deal.
The banks are as screwed as the homeowner.
If the loans were made in a traditional way, this wouldn't be happening, the owners could not keep refinancing and using their houses as ATM's to 0% equity, and it would be in the lender's interest to work out payments.
Now, in some cases, even finding out who officially is the mortgage holder is a problem.
This is like the DEA agent smoking dope after busting tons of guys...
As much as I think prostitution, drugs, etc. are not necessarily criminal behavoir, and that the laws should/need to be changed, fact is, they are the law now and I have little sympathy for a "tough on crime" guy going down for the same things he went after other people for.
The thing that troubles me is not wanting to agree with all the hand wringing done by the morality crew, guys like Peter King (R-NY), this morning on CNN.
Aargh. This does not speak well of Spitzer's judgement.
Many of them probably clients of the same "modeling agency".
Yeah, want to bet we might not ever know who client's 1 through 8 are?
Those tough on crime guys should be banned.
I didn't mean that, there are honest crime fighters, people that believe in the law and do their best to uphold it.
Spitzer seemed to be a good guy overall, has done a good job, but I can honestly say I'm very disappointed that he was breaking the law..knowingly.
I still insist it shows very poor judgement.
As for prostitution, God knows it's a hellish life for most, but throwing them in jail isn't going to improve their life, it just keeps them out on the fringe. Personally, I only know one person that was a "call girl". This was back in college and she was pretty damn practical and made a truckload of money...she wasn't a victim and I think even enjoyed her job. She thought she was putting one over on the suckers she got paid by. For her it was a game.
I find prostitution disgusting because I think society's ideal is that sex is a deeply intimate, personal thing, as as such, should not be part of commercial transaction.
I see what you are saying, but...not everyone agrees with you. I think sex is intimate and personal, I have friends (male and female) who look at it a ton more casually than I ever could. Some of them have might have some personal "baggage", but a few just like having sex, tons of sex, casual, with strangers, etc.
There are a number of things that I find disturbing or immoral that I do not believe should be prohibited by law. Porn is the best example, porn is not for me and I would hope anyone I cared about would not be involved in it, but "good" old fashioned porn is a ton different than forced porn, child porn, etc. which no one disputes should be illegal.
I think part of the reason that some reason that women are "enslaved" by the practice is because of the illegality. Who are they going to turn to for help?
