  • Creepy...maybe that's the problem?

Why is it that Obama supporters don't understand that there are many intelligent, objective people who don't agree with them?

There are tons of supporters, of both candidates, that do understand this, but....

When they are accused of being sexist for not thinking that saying "periodically" and "down" in a comment about Hillary means that she's hormonal and her and any other woman can never be trusted, Obama supporter's might get a bit defensive.

If they like a candidate and are enthused about him, and are promptly accused of being creepy, cultish and similar to Tom Cruise, they might get a bit defensive.

Hell, I even think accusations about being naive would make me a bit defensive, I imagine there are some very well read supporters on both sides, and a few people that like the "idea" of a woman, the "idea" of a black man, or the "idea" of anything appealing and base their judgement on that item alone. I'm not going to base my vote on the fact that some idiot will vote for them for the "wrong" reason.

If Ann Coulter votes for Hillary instead of McCain, I'm still voting for Hillary, even if I would have preferred Obama over her, and 4 other Dems over either one of them.

I do believe that both Hillary and Obama have their negatives, but I think McCain has many more that can be capitalized on.

    One more thing....

unlike the case with clinton where we can assume that all or nearly all her voters can be counted on to be democratic in november.

Not true, there are a number of R's that want Hillary to be the nominee, they are just as divided in their opinions over who would be the best candidate to run against.

There were Dem's that voted for Romney and Huckabee for the same reason. Frankly, I don't know that either of those guys would be "easier" to beat than McCain.

    oh please...

    1) Most of the criticism of Hillary mirror the right wing propaganda produced for years by the rightwing/mainstream media and many of the clinton critics display clear signs of right wing psychology.

I don't see any Obama supporter's claiming that Hill murdered Vince, that she's gay, that Bill's a murderer and a rapist, etc. You're right, that would be despicable. Sometimes some of the whole Monica thing comes up, but guess what, there was an entire impeachment debacle about it, it's out there and well known. What was Bill's popularity at the end of his term? It was pretty damned high, no matter what the MSM tried to do.

    2) Far more obama supporters than hillary supporters are ignorant or misinformed about recent political history

How would you know that? Hmm? Or is is that because so many young people support him, they must be clueless. I said this earlier, you will always find some people that will support a candidate for a wrong reason, some racists would never vote for Obama or any black man, some sexists would never vote for Hillary or any woman, some idiots in my family would never vote for their own economic interests.

3)The mainstream/rightwing media has not meaningfully examined obama and has relentlessly promoted him.

It sucks and is not fair. The MSM does seem to "like" him the way they "like" McCain. The MSM didn't give fair treatment to candidates on either side, Huckabee (and Romney to a lesser extent) were marginalized, as was Edwards, let alone Ron Paul. Glenn Greenwald has pointed out that the more populist a candidate sounds, the less mainstream, the less they are given chance to be heard or be counted as serious. Maybe, like McCain, the press will keep their blinders on because they think Obama's the cool, popular kid.

4)Many of the states where are obama won caucuses are overwhelmingly republican and the democrats have no chance in them in november.

Yeah, that strategy has worked so well the last two elections. There are only a few red states, a few blue, the majority are solid purple and none should be ignored.

I'm going to repeat my self, but you should go look at Firedoglake's take on this kind of bickering...

    http://firedoglake.com/2008/02/18/campaign-2008/

    In particular, the following quote:

    6. Your candidate's supporters are clearly worse than my candidate's supporters. It sure seems like they start most of the baseless criticism -- as opposed to my candidate's supporters' worthy concerns.

We haven't devolved into Hitler comparisons (yet) so there is some hope for us here.

From a leaning towards Obama supporter (already voted for Edwards), but hopefully not in a creepy, culty, Tom Cruise-ish way.

Anonymous trolls can support anyone, or just be bomb throwers who want to cause disruption.

Since they won't create a simple anonymous account name, you can't look at their other posts to see what kind if idiots they are.

I won't judge Hillary OR Obama on anonymous smears.

"The reason why Barack won't debate her is because she is more knowledgeable and it shows in the debates. Most people who aren't biased, or focused on only one issue - agree that she excels in the debates."

I think they both perform well enough in debates, when the questions are solid, not "what do you think of what Hillary said last week" variety designed only for controversy. I'm curious as to how Edwards will endorse, since he's met with them both and has seen them behind the scenes.

It's never in the front runner's benefit to debate more, they have the most to lose if they make a mistake. I guess this means he feels he's in the lead....and so does the Hillary camp.

That being said, I can't say that this election cycle has been short of debates.
