@Klytus

One of my good friends reads Drudge religiously.

He hates Obama and did what he felt was right. He's in a swing state and wrote in "Ron Paul".

I can't say I'm unhappy with that decison. Heh.

And yet....

I was watching CNBC today and they were talking about this manufactured issue.

The "balanced" panel was Maria Bartiromo the host, Larry Kudlow and Arthur Laffer on one side (the how Obama will destroy the economy side and wants to "redistribute the wealth") and Jared Bernstein to represent the other side.

At least Jared was decent and strong at saying that Obama never said resdistribute wealth. That wasn't being talked about in his speech...it was added later.

Schlesselman?

And he's a neo-Nazi? What a nutbag.

@Jim Montague

Want to bet if they can't find the message, they cry censorship?

@Essaywhuman

You almost had it...

In case you don't know and it wasn't a typo, just use the < > symbols to enclose blockquote, instead of the [ ] symbols.

While we're at it...

If the liberal media had just covered Whitewater, travelgate and Monica Lewinsky, Bill Clinton would have been very unpopular.

But the MSM kept it so hushed up.... /snark off

p.s. though to be fair, the MSM didn't cover the 44 murders (or whatever number there crazed minds come up with) Bill Clinton was directly linked to, including one name on that list that a friend of mine.

What bothers them

Is the media has never talked about Obama's association with Ayers, Wright and Rezko...except for FOX, CNN, MSNBC, CNBC, ABC, NBC, CBS, NPR and every paper I've ever read.

But, but, but, what they really mean is that they want to see it above the fold everyday.

Otherwise it's bias.

p.s. It still cracks me up that when the media talked about Keating 5, how John King, CNN said Dems were trying to "link" McCain to the Keating 5 scandal.

@T.B. re: sexual

In Todd's ever changing story of the assault, she added that she was restrained and the big, scary black Obama supporting mugger reached up inside her shirt and fondled her breasts.

I guess because the face carving wasn't scary enough she had to embelish her lies even further.

I'm thinking that Todd isn't the sharpest tool in the shed.

Right on schedule

It may be starting to ramp up.

@NYNY

Wow, that was a really good post.

@Iokannan

If we're supremely lucky, the GOP ticket will pick it up and embarrass themselves further.

God I hope not, because as GG points out, Obama has fallen in line. The Russia "all things evil", Georgia "all things good" story has taken hold here. This is bipartisan stupidity, just like the bailout was.

Krauthammer's comments are frightening. I'm sick of "gut" level decisions, it's time we used our heads.

Malkin, etc.

The article that Joan links to by Andrew Sullivan mentions Malkin and her skepticism.

If a majority on the Right were pushing the story, it's not unfair to say that the Right was pushing the story without having to list every holdout. Drudge, Fox, InstaPundit, Rush, and countless RW blogs ran with story.

They have heard it

Readerreader, my Mom, who already voted for McCain in AZ, doesn't care about Ayers, Rezko and Wright. She has "heard" all about that stuff (endlessly from her Rush listening husband) and thinks it doesn't matter.

She's a Palin fan, plain and simple, and in fact, the dirtier it gets the more it troubles her about her selection.

We here at Salon know all the stuff, too. I'm very thankful it all came up in the bruising primaries and isn't fresh.

As for uninformed voters, I know plenty on both sides. I know a few Repubs that like McCain because he's so moderate on social issues, they think he's pro-choice and will stand up to the religious right. I know a few Obama supporters that think he's going to pull the troops out of Iraq in January. Oh well, they can't all be rocket scientists.

As an aside, the RW is making the same mistake as it did with Bill Clinton, that you assume if we just "knew" what you "knew" we'd agree. That if we just understood what Whitewater was about, if we just knew more about Paula Jones, Monica Lewinsky, etc. we'd hate him. It didn't turn out that way, in fact, the harder they went after Clinton (especially impeachment) the more the independents rallied in his defense. The same thing is happening with Obama.

@gezelligtexas

Your comment about Aspberger's made me smile.

That does get thrown around alot here, doesn't it? I think there are at least two posters here at Salon that have been diagnosed that way and they do tend to see their symptoms in others.

@deering

I'm with you. This "poor girl" had previously accused the janitor at her university of wrecking her McCain signs and making it a hostile environment. I wonder what color her janitor was?

That kind of accusation can destroy a man's life.

She sucks.

Drudge has it up now

I emailed him the link about 5 minutes ago, I imagine many others did, too.

It's at the top, but not as big...

Friday, October 24, 2008 10:55 AM

Thanks Tim

From the article...

A Pittsburgh police commander told KDKA Investigator Marty Griffin that Ashley Todd confessed to making up the story & is facing charges

Aye Carumba. That didn't take long, I wonder how long Drudge will keep it up on his website...

Retired autoworkers in Michigan

Better pay attention to what's happening to the Pension Benefit Guaranty Corp., because it's in trouble and a lot more workers will be dumped into it soon when more companies enter bankruptcy.

My guess is a McCain-Palin ticket won't be that concerned about old union member's pensions.

Friday, October 24, 2008 07:36 AM

McCain and Palin

do not/ will not owe anyone an apology. They hear a girl say she was attacked and commiserated with her, and that is what they should do.

They are NOT expected to question her, they are expected to offer sympathy.

I felt sorry for Tawanna Brawley and Susan Smith at first, too, and I would have been kind to both of them until the truth came out.
