Not that I would ever run for office

I was born on at a domestic military base many years ago.

Later, I needed security clearance for my job at a nuclear facility and ran into some delays. There was no record of my birth, because it seems an offsite facility that kept the original records burnt down.

My real father and mother (for lack of a better term) are both deceased...add that to the fact that I don't have an "original" birth certificate.

It took awhile, but the state gave me a birth certificate, though it was not the original or a copy of the original. It was still valid.

I got my security clearance, but I imagine the genius RW bloggers would see problems.....

Original article: Ferraro for Obama

I am glad, and appreciative (and lighten up fellow Obama supporters!)

Ferraro does recognize that even if she preferred Hillary, Obama is far better (and closer to Hillary's views) than a McCain-Palin ticket.

As for Lady Lynn Forester de Rothschild, she has a letter up at Huffington Post explaining that Obama's tax plan is welfare. I guess returning to the old Clinton tax rates would send us down the path to communism.

Frankly, I have no idea why Rothschild ever supported Hillary in the first place, other than maybe they were personal friends.

Selling fear

That has been the one successful aspect of the McCain-Palin campaign.

Backfiring indeed

How will the neocons justify the +70% support the American Jewish community is giving Obama? Are they all anti-Semetic, too?

The ADL has done a huge disservice to themselves with ignoring all the smears done by the RW and attacking any hint by the Left.

Heh

Wait, Communism is genetic?!?

Nobody better tell that to the exiled Cubans in Miami...otherwise they should have been trying to get Elain back to Cuba before he could grow up and infect others with the communism running in his blood.

I wonder if the banking genes from Obama's grandma (even the RW can't question that lineage) inject enough capitalism to cancel out the potential "bad blood".

Keep them coming

and show how truly desparate (and pathetic) the RW is.

Pretty soon the Repubs will be reduced to the 20% of Americans that still believe Rush is an unbiased journalist and the 1% of Americans that can profit from exploiting them.

Smaller tent! Smaller tent!

That over 10% is now going to exec compensation

Over 70 billion dollars, so that they can keep their "best" of the workers is what kills me.

Where would these "best" guys and gals go? Are there tons of hedge funds, banks, investment houses somewhere that have millions to offer them?

Signs on 8

I just passed a "Yes on 8" sign in the Inland Empire that had an added little warning... OR FACE GOD'S WRATH!!! Under the sign it had a reference to Romans something or other.

Original article: When filth is not enough

@virtue

You truly do not get sarcasm, do you?

If Joe the Plumber thinks he is in danger of having his taxes raised by Obama, he's obviously in the top 5% of people in this country.

That makes him obviously wealthy or obviously an idiot.

Your call.

p.s. Joe's hiring of a publicist won't help Joe at all if he continues to no show at McCain events that he was scheduled to attend.

@pedinska

If it was so easily rigged, I doubt the GOP would be going to the trouble of voter suppression this time, and they are trying.

Fortunately, the same old tricks aren't working. (I love that the DOJ didn't do what Bush asked them to do in Ohio this time...)

http://tpmmuckraker.talkingpointsmemo.com/2008/10/gop_voter_suppression_more_mis.php

Also, the fact that the Repubs are screaming about voter fraud is in part because they fear a blowout and want to have a "reason" for their loss.

@umbrage

No, don't you see, if they're poor (let alone not white), they are obviously Democrats that just want more government handouts. Never mind those pesky types like Buffet and Steve Jobs, they're just crazy. During one of the Joe the Plumber segments I heard the jokes that people can afford to go to Obama's rallies because they don't have to work like the McCain supporters.

McCain even spoke to ACORN awhile back, but that was before he went all Limbaugh/Hannity.

It's sad really, it's one group of disenfranchised people up against other disenfranchised people. It's just the Joe the Plumber types don't realize they are down and out. A guy making $40,000 a year has a hard enough time supporting himself today, let alone a child he's paying for.

Original article: The Exxon recession

@ChillyDogg

Exxon's dividends aren't particularly good. Exxon also gave a bonus of $500,000,000 to it's CEO a couple of years ago.

@Elephantman

Why does the Blackwater CEO care if the gays in California get to marry? Will his marriage fall apart? Is he afraid have to pay benefits to his soldiers/mercenaries who will all come out of the closet?

There is quite a bit of "outside" money thrown at this issue.

"let freedom ring"

Ari, is that you?

That being said, I find it funny that the best thing of all about the old electro is his very clever names, some of which are freaking brilliant. I just wish his posts were as well thought out.

@omooex

This must be the craziest anti-Arab hysteria that I've seen since the seventies (well the eighties and early and late nineties and double 00's weren't too good either).

I agree. I went poll walking last Sunday and one lady of middle eastern descent was afraid to tell me if she had voted yet. I told her I was supporting Obama and she still wouldn't make eye contact with me but asked if I liked him. When I replied that I really did, she seemed truly relieved, but still afraid. It mad me sad.

It seems that being against the "Muslims" is the only truly "acceptable" prejudice now. Even the homophobes aren't able to be as blatantly anti-gay as they used to be and have to disguise their intent.

Andrew Sullivan links to a Civil War page to show the alignment of the states then and now and it's kind of scary.
