  • The Clinton Years....

[Read the article: Religious right may blackball Giuliani]

Oh yeah, the Clinton years, they were Hell, except for me and most other people. I was doing MUCH better then, and my family still had a solid pension not turned over to the soon to be bankrupt PBGC.

Yeah, the Bush years improved life for who besides radical Islamists?

I'm soooo glad we still own oil futures, it makes up for our losses elswhere.

  • Where?

Okay, WinSmith, you've suckered me into responding. Where does Glenn do this????

He's arguing that Jewish agenda is at work behind the scenes as one of the driving forces of American foreign policy.

Both sides of the aisle are very strongly pro-Israel, not pro-Jewish, that part is incidental. Nobody says that this support is secret, that it's not being led by a "cabal". Many of these Israel supporters are pretty friendly to the Saudi regime, too, for the same reason...and it has nothing to do with religion.

American foreign policy wants friendly nations in a part of the world where we are not very popular. It's practical...it helps protect our "interests".

Implying that criticism of the ADL on one issue (two posts, harldy obsessive) somehow promotes antisemitism is ridiculous. To quote a previous poster, that is like saying criticism of OJ insidiously promotes the racism of the KKK.

p.s. The thought of a Jewish agenda is as laughable as that of a homosexual agenda. Very few at this site would believe in either.

  • PNAC

Finding Jews in PNAC seems to mean a lot to some people.

Persoanlly, I'm MUCH more concerned with the other names, like Cheney and Jeb Bush.

  • Desmond Tutu the anti-semite

Jane (one of the Fox accused Nazi's) over at FDL links to this article and weighs in on the topic, too.

  • A trend.

You wanna criticize AIPAC and those whiny Jews are daring to ask you to gain a larger awareness of some of the narratives you're engaging.

Okay, so far the only person who as said (let alone implied) "whiny Jews" is you! Talk about anti-semetic stereotypes. Puhleeeeze.

  • Full circle

He simply should've listened as those well meaning Germans explained to him how German Jews had too much behind the scenes power, and it wasn't really anti-Semitism to point that out.

Back again to Glenn's point. If the left or a liberal even dares imply a criticism of anything related to Israel, we are comparable to Nazi's or Nazi defenders.

    I understand. Well done.

  • On schedule

Well, there weren't any anti-semitic rants here and then up popped an anonymous (of course) poster.

  • Wow, what a putz.

If Greenwald can agree with David Duke, I'll partake of a little Heidegger now and then.

Yep, that's our Glenn. He is one of the biggest white supremists/separatists operating out there.

From the ADL, here are some (freaking scary) David Duke comments on Jews that Salon readers and Glenn Greenwald must agree with since they think that Jane Hamsher shouldn't be called a Nazi.

What exactly among Duke's quotes can you attribute Glenn's sympathy? Hmm?

Did you even read the article Glenn wrote? I'm serious.

Where is AIPAC mentioned? It's not.

The AEI is mentioned. That's a front for big oil, and hating it or supporting it has NOTHING to do with anti-semitism.

The ADL is mentioned, but because he wants them to be more diligent, not one sided in their condemnation. If you believe no one is supposed to trivialize the term Nazi or Hitler, then stand by that...even if it's your friends.

The only politicians mentioned in regards to a potential war with Iran were Rudy Guiliani and John McCain. Lieberman was NOT mentioned. Attacking Rudy and John does not make one an anti-semite. (Though neither does attacking Lieberman...but, again, he was not mentioned.)

If Glenn wrote a piece talking about Jewish cabals* and said that AIPAC was secretly controlling American foreign policy* and that David Duke* had a point and that Glenn doesn't mention his Jewishness because he doesn't identify himself that way*, etc. and whiny Jews* complain all the time, your arguments would be sound. But none of this ever happened. In fact, I put an * by all the things that you alone have brought to the discussion.

Nice sidetrack you pulled. I'll leave you to it.

  • Jewishness

WinSmith, we're all aware that you did not bring up the fact that Glenn was Jewish.

What got me was the way you claimed Glenn being Jewish wasn't "integral" to his life because he didn't mention it in this thread. As another poster pointed out, Glenn didn't mention his sexual orientation, marital status, professional status, etc. He, like most of us, thought it wasn't relevant to the discussion, becase it's not.

Again, being one of the posters that have asked a few questions that haven't been replied to, when did Glenn mention cabals, AIPAC, Lieberman, etc? Where did anyone on this thread say anti-semitism doesn't exist?

AnnieW, married, straight, atheist, liberal, Irish Catholic heritage, through marriage some children and all of my grandchildren are Jewish, decent tipper of all races (due to the fact that before I became an engineer I relied on tips myself)

  • Meditating on it

[Read the article: The remaining GOP base -- the 30%'ers and the Broder/Ignatius pundit]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]

My fear is, as we are trying to figure out what could possibly be the motivation(s) for opening yet another (even more dangerous) front in the middle east, that Bush & Co. will just do it. Bombs away.

Already we have a million shifting rationales competing for why we HAD TO go into Iraq, I don't want to be looking back 10 years from now trying to figure out why we HAD TO go into Iran.

I'm beginning to think the rationale for much of what this administration does is "because it can".

ps. Am I the only one of the few people on this board who didn't go through a PhD program? (g)

And to prove I don't have a PhD, I hit send before proofreading.

What I meant to say... Am I the only one on this board who didn't go through a PhD program? (g)
