Salon Must Be In On The International Conspiracy To Stop Ron Paul!

What exactly is the "revolution" Ron Paul talks about? The dude hates taxes and thinks government laws regulating industrial pollution to keep our drinking water clean are a "tyranny beyond all endurance!"

No offense, but sounds like the same old Republican bullshit.

What exactly is so revolutionary here?

Edwards Is Holding Obama And Hillary Accountable If Noting Else

In a 2 person race the debate usually drops down to meaningless "He Said/She Said" attacks as they did in the last debate --- Edwards brought them back to the issues. He is more of a moderator in the debates than Tim Russert! And if you were running for VP or Attorney General --- would it make sense to drop out NOW or wait until much, much later and get as much exposure as possible?

Brilliant!

Smart, calm, graceful ...are only a few of the adjectives that rise to describe Sen. Obama's adroit handling of Sen. Clinton's desperate and ineffectual attacks. He has displayed an impeccable ear for the right defusing gesture and his clarity of insight into the adversary's psychological stance is daunting. This is a person who knows how to lead in a dangerous world.

Today's statement is a small example of the larger outline of Obama's diplomatic style: win/win cooperation, dialogue-driven problem solving, and community building is quite emblematic of the approach of younger Americans today. The voters across the nation have embraced Obama precisely because he gives voice to the post-combative, anti-partisan vision of our world that they share. Obama is a gifted leader with ideas, drive, vision, and the old-fashioned toughness necessary to guide us into the 21st century.

Well said.

What's interesting is that (hate to say it) the same can be said to describe Hillary.

Tarriffs Make Sense!

What we need are tariffs.

Let's be clear, if the US continues to have a 6% trade deficit the dollar will continue to fall causing ever more inflation. These trade deficits are structural not incidental, that is, we are not importing goods to produce exports or make us more efficient, we are importing goods to consume.

It is no secret that every other country practices protectionism of one sort or another whether it be currency manipulation, product dumping or subsidies.

Without tariffs to protect and expand manufacturing here in the US we will be devastated by inflation anyway. So, take your pick, higher prices with jobs for American made products or ever higher prices for products with fewer and fewer American jobs.

Let the tariffs begin!

We're never going to be able to compete with China and the others because they (lets be honest) use slave labor and have no worker safety costs, extremely low labor costs, ect.

So wouldn't it make sense to impose a tarrif on those products so that when they are sold here they are comparable in price to OUR products?

I just don't see how you can run an entire national economy employing only McDonald's service workers making $6/hr??

Okay, yes, it does cost us more to manufacture our own goods -- but so what? We have to get back to actual manufacturing at some point. We tried running an entire economy using just credit cards and minimum wage jobs. Didn't really work.

I Totally Agree With The Comparison

It just shows a patterns of how Conservatives have been wrong on every major issue for the last 100 years.

Conservatives voted and protested AGAINST the right to form unions on the grounds that it would "destroy" America. Progressives ignored their hysteria and defeated them to the betterment of America.

Conservative voted and protested AGAINST Child Labor Laws on the grounds that it would "destroy" America -- and once again the Progressives overcame their hysterical resistence to a common sense law to the betterment of all America.

Conservatives voted and protested AGAINST Fair Wages on the grounds that it would "destroy" America -- and one more time the Progresives fought against their hysteria to the betterment of America.

And on and on. 100 years nonstop of Conservatives fighting against common sense laws (like the abolition of slavery) on the grounds that these improvements would "destroy" America.

So here we are debating climate change and and how it impacts our laws and regulations for manufacturing and industry. The Conservative broken record is playing again swearing (on a stack of Bibles) that any increase to our environmental laws would "destroy" America.

Make no mistake: this entire debate isn't about a scientific theory, but rather about the political ramifications of that debate.

Conservatives don't care about the science regarding climate change anymore then they care about the science regarding the classification of Pluto as a planet or an asteriod. The Conservatives are terrified that the science may embolden Progressive politicans and the public to pass stricter pollution regulations that would require aging industrial sites to upgrade their emission equipment.

This entire debate begins and ends with environmental regulations for industrial sites. That's it. The COnservatives are terrified to the point of irrational hysteria that some poorly run and inefficent factories in Detroit may be required by law (gasp!) to either shut down or improve.

The Conservatives have spouted nonsensical hysteria in opposition to common sense regulations for the past 100 years -- and they are doing it now.

This aint about a scientific theory -- this is about pollution standards.

The Cons were wrong when they irrationally fought against Child Labor laws.

The Cons were wrong when they irrationally fought against Fair Wage & Labor Laws.

And they are dead wrong in their bizarre fight against common sense regulation to reduce the amount of industrial pollution in our air and water.

This fight isn't about science, it's about government regulations regarding pollution standards and the Conservatives are violently opposed to ANY government regulations of business.
