Havrilesky & Traister need to know that county jail is not prison and the difference is not one of semantics.

County jail isolation is not exactly the rack. If she were in the general population, she'd be in serious jeopardy because of her notoriety or fame depending on one's perspective.

Is any of this really her fault? I don't mean the conviction and sentence, I mean Paris Hilton herself. She is more a product of the media and the people's perverse obsession with wealth, elitism, and fame.

And, lest we forget, jail is for punishment.

Well, not really. But I wanted to say that I knew Henry Aaron and Bonds is no Henry Aaron. Mr. Aaron was a class act. A gentleman and a great baseball player.

It is true that race is an issue in the Bonds controversy but it is not as definitive as it was for Henry Aaron who broke many American hearts when the Bambino's record bit the dust.

I'm a black man. For me, the issue isn't race at all; its honesty and fairness.

As far as I'm concerned, when my grandkids ask me about Barry Bonds, I'm going to say, "Who?"

By the way, Henry Aaron did not like being called Hank. This is a familiarity that newspapers used in part for alliterations (Hammering Hank) but Mr. Aaron has a right to his name and to limit those who would pretend to like him because of his skills but hated him for smashing an old, racist American dream of white superiority in all things baseball.

McCain needs to get a real grip. George Bush and company have been accused of stealing two elections (remember Florida's hanging chads?) and John Kennedy was credited with stealing the one he "won".

Remember all of the disenfranchised voters in Ohio?

America is obviously one of the leading democracies but its politics have been marred by out and out thievery, racism, sexism, etc.

Oh he without sin... remember that?

Now what happened in Iran seems to be wrong based on the info I've read but I do not know how reliable it is. Nevertheless, McCain and those who agree with him need to do a reality check.
