Is any of what Pataki said remotely true regarding the release of classified info during the trials of the 90s? He's claiming that Al Qaeda and Bin Laden benefitted greatly from release of all this secure information during the 90s trial and it will happen again. The NY rep said that CIPA protects against that. Glenn was given no chance to respond to it. What's the truth?
Would these be the same "experts" that Brooks relied on to cheerlead the Iraq debacle or has he gotten a whole, new rolodex? I'm sure it's just a coincidence that Brooks has Cheney on speed dial. What a colossal asshat.
So now we're going to bomb the bejesus out of those Iranian civilians that we were cheering for a few months ago? OK, got it.
Just a side note, I tried to post a comment earlier at the NYTimes for Mr. Brooks. It was a rebuke of his opinion pointing out that he is always wrong and how he often attacks war critics. I used no profanity but did comment that he should be unemployed and living under a bridge. Apparently, my comments were deemed too harsh, the tough-guy warrior was sheltered by his editors as they didn't post my comment. I guess it might have hurt his feelings.
On Stephanopoulous Sunday, didn't I hear George Will say that the danger of investigating the CIA activity regarding torture is that it could spread up the chain to senior, high level officials in the govt? Really George, that's the fear?
Oh, and when I realized Liz Cheney had a seat at the table I immediately turned off the TV.
I've got 10 bucks says he's had a homosexual episode in his life.
To be perfectly frank, Krauthammer is pure evil and a ranting psychopath so his opinion really shouldn't count. Unfortunately, his chicken scratch is blasted all around the country by syndication.
I understand that Jeb Bush is considering running for Senate in Florida.
If these men weren't "enemies of the state" back in 2001, they probably are now after 7 years of wrongful incarceration.
Exit polls...AAAAAARRRRRRGGGGGGHHHH.
I'll never forgive exit polls from 2004.
Glenn,
Just curious, what is your beef with Nick Lampson? I know he's probably a Democrat in name only but it's Tom Delay's old seat for crying out loud and we are talking Texas here. Baby steps, baby steps.
Charles Krauthammer. Bill Kristol. Brit Hume. Karl Rove. It'll be like a carousel of criminals in deep psychic pain.
Whadya mean "like"?
reliving his daredevil exploits as a young naval aviator
Like crashing 5 jets?
there was joyous, fratboy towel-snapping from McCain directed at Lindsey Graham
Why am I not surprised?
Reston blames herself,
People with no self-esteem or self-respect usually do.
In summary, Oh. My. God. McCain MUST be cast onto the dustbin of history - and take those "reporters" with him.
This may have been mentioned already but Josh at TalkingPoints has coined the term "tire swinging" to describe this longing, reminiscence by impotent "journalists"
Texas A&M's paper is The Battalion.
A conservative rag for the conservative dittoheads of A&M and not to be confused with the pure genius parody paper "The Buttalion"
It's a good reminder that there are Congressional candidates who do not share the craven and cowardly attributes
There is another brave Congressional candidate named Rick Noriega who also opposes the FISA bill. I think you showed a video of him condemning the bill back when it was being passed. He's running against the Bush lapdog "Big Bad John" Cornyn for Senator in Texas. He probably won't beat Cornyn but we must get this type of candidate into Congress.
What bothers me is this report was released very late on Friday to minimize impact, hems and haws and is very feeble in its conclusions (this is what allows the McCain campaign to lie and virtually rewrite the findings in the media) and ends by saying there is no recommendation for legal action or punishment to Palin of any kind. Davis is right in that "it ends here". Once again, a two-tiered system of injustice. Another investigation that is a colossal waste of time.
A lot of people seem to think that the person who screams and rants and raves is the winner, while the person who remains calm and unbothered is the loser.
Glenn, that would be all the people that watch Fox News.
Good Lord. These pundits are such buffoons. But they do have the easiest job on earth. Say one thing, then when that proves grossly wrong, say the opposite. Quite a gig. Why do they get away with it? Why are they respected? Hell, why are they employed? They should all be living in cardboard boxes under an overpass.
the ideas they are vehemently criticizing are the ones that have animated everything they've said and done for the last eight years? How does a human brain evade that recognition?
Hell I dunno. Ask John McCain.
They attacked back and were as vengeful as the Republicans.
I must have missed this. How did the impeachments go Ms. Pelosi? How bout those Senate investigations, Mr. Reid? Honestly, does the Post let just anybody write for them because I could make shit up just as easily as Ignatius does.
I am not prepared to get into the specifics...
Yes, heavens, we don't want to be bothered with pesky details or "specifics" of this bill that is gutting the Constitution.
and the consequence of defeating the bill would be far worse than passing it.
THis is where they lose me, I still am unclear on this. What were the consequences of NOT passing this? Halperin makes it sound like all of Congress was ready to sign off on the nasty Senate version (the Cheney bill?). What happened to the rather sensible Restore Act? And what happened to the Congress standing firm against the Bush administration as they did the first go round?
